Club Finance Story - On Solent from 7am this morning
St Marco replied to saints_is_the_south's topic in The Saints
Wonder if the way they "gave" money to the club in "exchange" for shares is a way around the new finance rules coming in? -
Aww so cute the resident mongs have nothing to complain about so once again try and create something. You just got to love ththreads that start with "heard a rumour". Especially those that talk about our owners wanting out. Didn't we have that one only a few months ago? Has it gone from an annual summer thing into an every few months thing now? **** I'm still waiting for that rumor someone said about Markus daughter selling up soon after he died. 2 years on and still waiting! But yet again the mongos turn it into a "if you criticise us your a happy clappy" speech. No its not we're happy clappy it's simply waiting for one of these "rumours" to be right! So far pretty much none of them have! For those going deep with this I suggest you read what was said just over a year ago when "rumours" said we were for sale. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/s/southampton/9269293.stm As others have pointed out we will be sold one day. It happens to every club. It happens to the big clubs and it will happen to us. But it didn't happen last year, didn't happen the year before that. And I bet it doesn't happen this year either. There is a reason why people don't put names with these rumours because they know it's bull****. Especially when we have such a big fan base who will hunt you down and get every last detail about you. So we will get sold one day to think not is silly. But to think this "rumour" is true is equally silly. So rather then create a new thread just bump the old ones. Must be at least a dozen of them on here and they all turned out true....

While I sort of agree on some of the things you said I do disagree on the teams not beating each other comment. On any day any team can beat any team in the pl. The gap has closed a lot. Look at Birmingham winning the cup. Or Blackburn Or Palace winning at old trafford. They even got thumped 1-6 by city at home. While obviously we won't win the league if we apply the same principles we have had since Cortese came in then I think we can do alright. I remember people said the same thing about league one.

Good to see the bestest fans packed the park with that £5 a ticket promotion.

**** em They are the last people who should be playing the "decent thing to do" card....

Think Adkins now needs to play his first 11 every game. No more tinkering or trying to make people happy. Guly is out of form and struggling so should not be starting. What worries me is the whole "squad" thing could actually be hurting us. Puncheon should be on the wing and De Ridder coming off the bench to replace either Puncheon or Lallana. Guly plays better as a striker but should really only be coming on if there is a problem with Lambert. Should not be starting. You can't play them both on the pitch together. Cork has to be starting every game alongside Morgan imo. Hammond and Chaplow can come on for those players. Lee has been doing alright but I think it is time for Lambert and Sharp to be starting together and Lee replacing Sharp from the bench. A point against an inform Ipswich is an ok result. The first half we played well. But a couple have not been doing so well recently which makes it baffling that they are starting i.e Guly. On saturday Adkins needs to stop thinking about "squad" and thinking "best 11".

Someone needs to post that gif on their forum when they go down

Nah not on par with Ps3. I would say it is somewhere between ps2 and ps3 but closer to ps3 if that makes sense? Uncharted is by far the best looking game on it and looks similar to the first one on ps3. So obviously they will look better the more developers get used to it. It has huge potential. I think they are going to release a lot of the early games this gen on it ie Bioshock.
-
I got one and to be honest I think for what it is the thing is hugely over-priced. Managed to get it from HMV with fifa and uncharted for £250. The games themself look really good. Fifa is pretty much the same as the console version but with a few tweaks here and there. Not as good as the console version but as a game you can play on the go it is the best footie game I have played. The screen is amazing! But for what it is it is kind of behind the times. If the smartphone/tablet era had not started and this was released it would be the best thing out there. But we are so used to our phones and tablets being able to do various stuff on top of playing games that you do feel it lacks features. On top of that you have to buy a memory card or it won't work. And the the games are almost as expensive as the ps3 titles. The content on psn is a joke. To buy fifa on there will cost you £45. It shouldn't be anywhere near that. If you have the money and only care about the games then it is pretty cool. But for the price it is going to struggle so I expect the prices to come down like what happened with 3ds. Likewise I think games will settle around £25 eventually. I like my Vita but until a killer game comes out for it then it doesn't really have much of an identity. One cool feature it does have though is you can play your ps3 games on it by remote access. So if you can't be arsed to sit in front of the tv and want to go outside you can play your ps3 game on the vita out there. Other then that there are no other big features in there. Nothing new. Game are doing a deal where if you buy it and decide you don't like it you can return it and get your money back at the cost of a £10. I.e as if you had rented it. Maybe that is the way to go with it.

Apparently a coin was thrown onto the pitch at fraton park. The police are investigating whether it was a missile or a takeover bid.....

Feel sorry for him as he had done okay. At least we qualified for the tournaments. Which we didn't do under the last English manager. While I dislike Terry with a passion I do think the FA have totally ****ed this one up. What happened to innocent until proven guilty? It should be down to the manager to choose the captain not the FA. Politics should not be involved. It doesn't help when total mongs like Ian Wright keep banging on about it and saying he is a racist and thus shouldn't be picked. Like listening to him on the radio he said something like "It's a shame because the bigger picture will now get swept under the carpet, we should be talking about how to beat racism, that is where the energy should be". The good thing about it is we will now get a chance to see Redknapp given the chance so many keep mentioning he deserves. If he does well then great. If not then at least that one finally get's killed. But the problem is as Lampard pointed out. Players have everything too soon. They have flash cars without actually being apart of the team, they no longer have to do the crap jobs like clean the boots etc. They can't be punished like they used to unless it is 110% legal. A lot of players are total ****ers. Very few of them look like they will give their all, will die to wear the shirt. People like Scott Parker are what players should be like. The fact most are ****s means the public don't care about them. There is nothing to identify with them. Some look like they don't even want to be there. So why should the public care? Personally I don't think it matters who the manager is because the players have far more power then they do. And now by the looks of it the FA can also choose the team. Would rather watch Saints play and now look at the international breaks as something to despise. Could not giving a flying **** if we beat some minnow team from somewhere that used to be USSR.

But how does that having anything to do with the chairman? All he can do is get the stuff right behind the scenes i.e finances, training centre, academy etc and bring in the players the manager wants. If you look at the amount of players we have right now we have a massive squad. A squad which SHOULD be getting promoted. There is nothing else he can do to help the team perform better. I was at the game and am annoyed as everyone else but the blame for us starting to screw up is on Adkins and the players alone. The team looks the shadow of what it was and personally I think that is down to Adkins chopping and changing the side too much. When we had a smaller squad the first team got to know how each other and how they played. All we have now is the league and Adkins needs to pick his strongest 11 every match. No more tinkering, no more trying to make people fit in by being nice. Choose our best players every single game. Players like Barnard/Jaidi/Shaw/Hoskins/Reeves/Prowse/Holmes etc should now be nowhere near the first team as they are either too inexperienced or missed too many games. They should go out on loan and try and gain playing time elsewhere to regain form/fitness/experience. Since the start of december we have won only 3 of 13 games, of which 1 was a cup game. That is over 2 months of crap results. In the last 9 weeks we have a 20% win ratio. That has nothing at all to do with Cortese.
-
Ok I will bite. Will give you a chance. What is it that Cortese could do to ensure we are promoted then? Seeing as now we can't buy players. How can he make the team perform better? This should be good.
-
And there it is......so it is the chairmans fault we are in a bad run of form? Considering how much money we have spent this year on players (Cork,De Ridder,Sharp,Jos,Fox about £8m) I do find it slightly stupid that you would try and say the chairman has done something wrong? But that is because your just a mong so expect nothing less from you. Go back to your skate forum you ****.

I was there and defiantly saw things thrown but they were nowhere near him. As for the atmosphere thing that is pretty funny considering how quiet it was especially when we were winning. To say you couldn't hear each other is just laughable. What a douche.

First half couldn't really see much to be honest with you. Didn't think either team looked like they were going to score. Sort of got the vibe that nobody wanted to mess up and to be fair I am amazed nobody did. The only time I was worried was when Morgan lost the ball and brought their guy down on the edge of the box. Thankfully the boys didn't shy away from that shot as I imagine it would of fecking hurt whoever took that hit! Second half was also a bit meh to be honest. Can't really recall any chances other then the one that fell to Sharp. But that was more of a half chance I'd say. The way Brum set their defence up it was obvious they didn't want us to have any room or have any clear views of goal. They defended very well and it is easy to see why they have let in few goals. We never really had any clear chances to shoot from 25-30 yards out as they always pushed a player up to track the ball. All in all very happy with a draw. The conditions were laughable. I felt Arctic Fox did very well and people say it wasen't a red so again we get a crap ref decision go against us. If I had to pick a motm for us I would go with either Martin (should call him Iceman) or Puncheon. Martin has come on so much this season and think he could turn into a good player. Puncheon was all over the place in the first half trying to create things but more importantly tracking back to defend. Loads of positives and i'm sure there are negatives if you want to look for them. But getting a point, with 10 men, in the snow when you couldn't see **** away at the inform team in the league is a great point. Well done lads.
