I think this is what is called.. Perspective. Right now these are our most important success criteria, those which we are talking about.. 1. Score a goal.. any goal FFS! We would all take that v Sheff Weds (even if we lost.. it would show improvement) 2. Win a game.. no matter how ugly and by any score Forget the "giving someone a hiding".. we are desperate!! number whatever.... somewhere LONG way down the line long after playing with width, signing cover for Lambo, giving Guly more than 5 mins to see just how much of a duffer he may be, Season ticket charges etc.... is Play offs... promotion.. walking the Championship ... winning the prem with our youngsters!!! It might get worse of course we may have to sttop so low as to start just wanting a shot on goal first.... Ho hum!!

I usually view these threads and their comments and sigh at peoples' pessimisim.. however.. having gone to the MK match last night... it is going to take some time to get things turmed around this season. It feels like watching a pre season team learning the ropes again.. I think even IF Adkins can weave anything from this lot it is going to take a few months.. and then if NC intends to let him go shopping in the New Year transfer window.. it will take yet more time.. ins/outs blending etc... no.. I am afriad we are back at square one for this year. Everbody who has watched us this year both Saints and opposition fans know our tag of favourites was unfounded (although i bet the Brizzle R fans are scratching their heads). It is gonna take time peeps...

I was also at the game. We were awful... take away Lamberts first half shot over the bar and there was nothing to be proud of. It reminded me of the way we played into other teams hands when we got relegated from the prem. We gave the ball away in our own half far, far to often. We resorted to the hoofing very early on in the game. Too many flicks and not enough heart and soul. Whilst Chamberlain looked lively he was wastefull with his finishing. I cannot remember lambert doing anything in the second half. Both full backs looked as if the were out of their depth. When we actually got possesion we worked very hard to work the ball back further towards our own goal than when we first recieved the ball!!! Then we either hoofed the ball up to an MK player or passed it too them in a threatening position. Only Spider seemed to care, trying to gee the players up.. none responded.. not one! This was an abject performance..... We were beaten by a very ordinary side tonight. And yes.. the ref was almost as bad as we were!!! This was my first game "in the flesh" of the season and I was really looking forward to it... I wish I hadnt bothered... that isnt right is it??? PS: I didnt think the NA got a particularly warm reception at he start from our end either... not snubbed or derided as such.. more .. rather.. ignored or not recognised.... strange!

Don't you think that whoever is appointed will have promised NC promotion this season? Well it is the sort of thing you would expect to hear/say at an interview like this isnt it? So.. when the appointment is made, that is what NC will expect... and if Les reed is involved in the process he will also evaluated this against the applicants... so the stakes will be high.. as will be the expectation!!!

I have to say that the timing of sacking AP being so close to the transfer window AND no appointment of a new manager AND not bringing in any further players to bolster our squad probably means that I should change my expectations for Saints at least until the New Year. I just hope that we are not too far off the pace by then...

The more it changes ,the more it stays the same! This club is losing/has lost most of its respect from the footballing fraternity in this country. What a sad and shocking state of affairs. AP was doing no wrong and was as good a manager as anyone to take us on.... big names and personalities do not guarantee a thing. This is a sad day, not just for Alan, not just for Saints, but for the way football is run in this country nowadays. I am sure that there will be a view that "as long as Saints are successful", but does anyone else think this sort of Merry-go-round way of running football is just a step too far?

I have tried to put my prediction on for Bristol Rovers game a number of times but although the score is shown it never says the prediction is saved! This has been happening for a while now and the game is on sat..

yes Mr. Ron Manager that is exactly what is happening... which I think will be proven when the 25 are submitted and then all of the Championship and FL teams start to squabble for the leftovers... a new factor for this season....!!!!

My £5 subscription has run out and I shall not be renewing it due to the awful state of "in-fighting" going on on almost every thread. I know i am reducing my "voice" as it were but then it would almost certainly be shouted down because i do not belong to a particular clique. I can and shall watch from more of a distance, but I am afraid that I am ashamed to be associated with some people who apparently share the same passion as I do, namely supporting The Saints. I really do hope things sort themselves out on here, because like it or not the footbal club will be ok, despite and regardless of anyone on this forum. And that is all that it is.. a forum... yes we are all entitled to our opinions but some people go out of their way to wind others up.... see you at SMS or "on the road". WIFM. OWTSGMI.
