  1. Wimshurst was a really good attacking player was MOM in the famous 5 0 thrashing of Nottm Forest in the FA Cup 1963 but his form fell away and went to Bristol City Tony Knapp was our captain when we got promoted in 1966 came from Leicester City and went to Coventry a few months after this photo to be relaced by Big John McGrath was manager of Iceland Knapp I think was pictured in a large advert at the Archers Road End advertising Coca Cola
  2. Not such a good result as in 1962 when we beat them 6 0 but with all goals coming in the second half but better than I expected Think automatic promotion is between our selves West Ham and Birmingham. I will be interested if we buy a top class CB and striker in the window to show we really want promotion
  3. Well he is but Heskey is quicker
  4. Bennett
  5. No I dont think so We have every chance of getting promoted 60 points from 34 games should see us there Then of course there is the play offs 50 points from 34 games
  6. And it could happen again in a couple of weeks when Middlesboro are at St Mary's
  7. Sanctimonious twaddle

    Jos the Boss

From the comments on here and having spoken to people who went to the match he was OK but not outstanding. However I was hoping for something better and still feel we should have spent the apparent £1.8m that we paid for Fox on a really good young CB

But was he good as Seaborne?
  10. Surely 3 2 is a usually a better game than 1 0
  11. Seems a bit of an overaction I would have thought
  12. Not such as a disgrace as a few of allegded Saints Fans
  13. Dont think Dan Seaborne will play and Dan Harding possibly otherwise I agree
  14. I have no idea some anywhere in the top half I would have thought
  15. 16. Yes you are of course right because not many people respect others view and most cannot make a reasoned argument and negative in most cases is in fact having a different view. How being worried whether the new Dutch bloke is up to standard is negative I dont know surely it is the opposite He may well be what is required but at the moment there is little evidence to suggest that he is - only time will tell However if we had signed Gorkiss or Jemel where there is lots of evidence that they would be very welcome
  17. seems a replacement for Pulis http://www.monthehoops.co.uk/showthread.php?t=11932&page=2 But time will tell hope he succeeds
  18. As all three had medicals I would have thought that the finances had been resolved I understand that Nigel A is not at all happy with the situation and the club is losing credability with so many in the football world
  19. Unfortunately the club does not agree with you as it was trying to get in a top class striker and experencied CB but was that all show? What we have got is the team which was runner up in League 1 plus Cork plus another 2 better LBs when we had already and extended the contract of another. We obviously have lost OXO but replaced him with De Ridder hardly the actions of team pressing hard for promotion like some other clubs in the League - people may think they are stupid spending vast somes of money but at least they are being positive and giving it a go When we were taken over by ML a billionaire most of us were no doubt expecting loads of money to be spent on new players and as Dell Days was saying we were the Man City of League 1 we are certainly not the Man City of the Championship but very much like the Lowe years of Southampton in the PL However I dont think we are ready for promotion this season so of consolidation is fine by me Onr point of interest to me is what is going to happen to the OXO money as if it is not spent it will be probably taxed
  20. Totally agree he must be in the top 100 English CBs yet he gets slagged off by so many Whether he develpos into a PL CB only time and hardwork will tell

    Pardew

Yes I would imagine Pardew thinks it was a great decision:lol:
  22. So how come Gorkiss passed a medical after being offered terms
  23. FF is a decent bloke a Saints supporter through and through but was only posting something which I for one was not aware of that is the the purpose of a forum. It is not to praise every action of the club and its management
