It seems rather short sighted to bid £50k and then pay £6m two years later for the same player. But I still think that although the club is well run Cortese is not very good at recruiting players as he wants to pay as little as possible but we have done really well since 2009

I think this is quite an interesting thread but could someone suggest what type of players are required in a 4 3 3 formation because we tried and failed with in under that Dutch chap. Do we needed Stevie Williams and Oxo type players which we dont seem to have

I would have thought that your post is a load of Bollix. Phillips is a good player and quite rightly Holloway wants to keep him It is very similar to the AOC last year when most Saints Fans were adopting a different opinion

I dont recall anyone of any note saying the club is debt free at the moment How can it possibly be so where has the money come to pay for Rodriques etc

In 1976 we were in Div 2 it was 1978 when we returned to Div 1 We did have a slightly more experienced team but money did not matter as much as it does today. Shame that we have such a tough start playing the top three three teams in the first few games but I am fairly confident that we will do OK

It is possible for posters to get things right sometimes although in your case highly unlikely. Delldays makes a very powerful point we do need a top class CB and another two or three other PL standard players if we are to suceed in the PL

Yes I agree lots of clubs have paid out a shedload of cash on so called quality players who have turned out to be a waste of space. The players signed so far have been pretty good so hopefully another three will be recruited and we will see what happens

I agree with what you are saying but I would like a couple of really good PL players added to the squad in defence

Totally agree Charlie he is a very under rated player However I would like to see a really top class CB to replace Fonte

I agree he is probably not PL class but is good as quite a few of the others in the squad who are not PL class either including most of the defence

It not like he would be joining a top PL team if he came to St Mary's perhaps other clubs are interested in him.
