I must admit watching last nights game I was wondering what Cortese's Southampton way was. In the First Half Farnborough were passing to feet and breaking quickly with plenty of support we were hoofing the ball mostly although we were better in the second half

By the way if Wally coached the team to play hoof ball like they did in the first half he should be cursed Farnborough played better than us in the First half by passing to players feet thought their number 9 passed very well

Well he played on the right last night and was continually fouled so it was difficult so see if he was any good Looked very fast. In a League Match the LB would have been booked and then may have let him play a bit

I must admit I would not have brought him to St Mary's but he is here and should be given a chance without fans getting on his back. He does not appear to have much skill but tackles well and passed the ball quickly

I think it is impossible to debate the subject of the thread because of course fans would like better players to come to the club and it is quite subjective Pardew is possibly looking for additions but we dont know whether he has a budget for the purpose or that high quality players want to join us. The current first team is pretty good and from last nights game and the Southend game players like Wotton Seabourne and Holmes are not as bad as some people think Martin and Oxlade should develop as possibly one or two of the other youngsters. AS investment is being put into the Academy it is a futile exercise if the youngsters are not playing

Not sure I agree with him about Butterfield after last nights performance so I hope he improves Not very quick and do not remember him putting any crosses in - Did not link up with the Trialist who was continully getting fouled Reeves looked a much better footballer than Butterfield

Although he was not that good in the thirty minutes he was on the pitch last night he was not that bad either. Made a couple of decent tackles passed the ball quickly when he got it and harried their players Seemed to have good attitude as did all the players

He was not very good but was better than I thought He did put in a couple of good tackles

I watched him in the Warm Up and he made a couple of decent saves then Butterfield did not look a Championship fullback - Quite slow Reeves however looked Very Good Seabourne played very well so did Martin but his distribution was poor Pullis was far from anonymous putting himself about Holmes always looking for the ball produced the cross for the winner Perhaps you were at the same game on reflection McNish - off the pace, showed bright touches at times, but the game seemed to pass him by McGlashen - bit of a headless chicken, quite pacy but just ran into blind alleys and held the ball for too long, made some stupid fouls too Barnard & Connolly - both worked hard but had little service, good finish by Barney for the goal

Totally agree We are in League 1 not the Championship or Premier League

I do expect a couple of other players but I really think you are being a little greedy as you say. I am certain Dickson Butterfield and Richardson when fit are going to make the defence a much better unit and we will make life a lot easier Having a large squad sometimes is counter productive as the manager keeps changing the team I like having a settled team

For once I dont think the fans are delusional just confident we did get 83 points last season and an extra three wins would get us over 90 points Are you suggesting that this season's team is going to be worse than lasts?

I am sorry I totally disagree although signing more players may make our team more competetive the current squad is more than capable of getting promotion. WE are favourites most fans from SFC and other clubs expect us to be promoted as our form last season proved. It is now up to Pardew and the Squad with probably a couple of additions to get down to work and justify the expectations

Well we have a very good squad a very good stadium and facilities so why should we be worried about any other team. We are in League 1 purely because of financial mismanagement we are a big club in a small pool and most people are right to expect promotion I would have thought
