and Denis Hollywood one of the hardest Saints players I ever saw Forgotten Heroes - Denis Hollywood - Southampton News | The Ugly Inside (fansnetwork.co.uk)

Yes he is doing OK it was a shame that we did not hang on for a draw at Fulham like we did today and against both Palace and City Not only for the extra point but also for the confidence we could have brought into the Forest game Things are looking up with new players to come into the team the future looks brighter than it did in 2022
-
Looking at the players playing today and on the bench just shows how ineffective our Academy has now become which I believe maybe one of the reasons why we are in the relegation zone PS I am not Jones IN or OUT he is doing OK and it is a shame we did not hang on for a draw at Fulham as I thought his tactics there were spot on
-
Yes I agree but do not feel confident as I have seen Saints so many times be woeful after playing really well in their previous game. I am not underating Saints performance at all but my friend a City Fan sent me a text Only one team in it! but we were shocking well done
-
But Everton have better players than us Pickford Gray Gordon and Coady would significantly enhance our team
-
I do not for one minute think Jones was a good appointment but do you really think any manager would get much out of our squad which with injuries is now worse than the one Ralf struggled with. I doubt that the squad will be much better with new players for a few weeks as well it takes time to integrate into a new team which is struggling Most clubs bottom of the PL at this time of the year get relegated just accept it like the UK SFC has not had enough investment so is bound to be struggling
-
I first saw Tommy Smith play at West Ham in the 1960s he wore number 10 but was a CB
-
Perhaps he just be a manager for cup games
-
Yes Dyche the bloke who took a better squad than ours down last year where most teams are better than last year not us of course Bournemouth have new owners I doubt they are not going to improve the squad in the next few weeks

Rate Saints business in the Summer 2022 Transfer Window
John B replied to Barsiem's topic in The Saints
Anybody like to comment why they thought it was a great window -
Do you not think it is the players who are responsible for our demise I should think that NJ agrees with me they are a useless rabble I doubt he planned for no shots on target It does not matter who is the manager this squad is on the way down

According to the BBC Southampton are close to agreeing a £7.5m deal for Dinamo Zagreb and Croatia midfielder Mislav Orsic, 30. (Sun) Southampton are also set to make a move for Racing Club's Argentine midfielder Carlos Alcaraz, 20, in an attempt to bolster their Premier League survival hopes this season. (Telegraph - subscription required) Which in the circumstances is encouraging
-
I do not disagree with what you are saying but we are on a continual downward spiral and eventually will be relegated without significant investment I just feel we need to regroup and develop some of our younger players Most relegated teams do well in the Championship
-
So you reckon it is nothing to do with the lack of investment from Gao regime over the last few years and the Academy not producing any worth while PL players then? It always seems to be the manager fault despite players missing goal scoring chances and defenders and goal keeper making unforced errors. We just do not seem to have enough quality PL players so lets sack the manager and get in someone with little topclass experienceto play a system which has not proved to be successful before This at the moment does not seems not be a very good strategy. Over the last few years we have lost Forster Bertrand Romeu Ings Redmond Stephens PEH Cedric Bednerak Vestegard and loads of Academy players. With their replacements apart from KWP who have proved to be not much better and to continue to make errors whilst other clubs like Brighton Crystal Palace and Brentford have become recruited better players We seem now to be in a group with Nottm Forest Bournemouth Wolves Leeds Everton and possibly West Ham fighting for survival. Wolves seem to be addressing their problems and I expect the other three will do so with more investment and experienced managers like Aston Villa have done As a club we seem to be at our best when we have a number of home produced players in the squad and playing a full part but not these days
-
I dont see many games these days but we played well against Man U at home and were unlucky to lose as my Man U friend said.
-
I was quite surprised how so many of the forum were in support of SR I must admit I was sceptical of their approach and did and always think for the club to prosper is to have an owner with deep pockets and the will to sign proven PL standard players. I have been following the Saints for ages but this squad of ours today is pretty ropey containing International players of repute who I have watched over the last sixty years. Football in the PL is big business and some of the best players in the world play in it and all we can offer is JWP who would not be one of the better midfield players I have seen in a Saints shirt and a lot of young players who maybe PL standard players in the future but are not at the moment
-
We did not have any decent attacking players to replace Edozie That is why we are where we are at the moment because we lack goals. Who was going to come on and suddenly change the momentum of the game Stu A came on did OK but nothing great We just do not have players like Mane Llalana or MLT to bring on to increase the tempo we had Mara and A Armstrong. We were level away from home needing every point we can get so the obvious thing was to make sure we came away with a point just like Everton and Leeds did But the defence had other ideas we were lucky not to lose 3 1
-
I agree but we are not any good at defending either We should have finished 1 1
-
I do not think the manager did much wrong today 1 1 would have been a decent result
-
But the likes of Ramos Broja and Gapko did not want to come here I would have thought
-
I agree the only way for success in the PL is to have rich owners who want to invest to succeed In general we have not had owners with large amount of money to invest we did have Markhus but his investment in players was not that high really was it
-
The last two times we went down we came back stronger and we went to Wembley and won two cups cups. I always wanted to watch Hartlepool United as a boy as they were crap and I did eventually when we played the in League 1 You will enjoy some good wins with lots of goals
-
Got us back in four years and won the FA cup after 2 years but we did have some decent players
-
Ralph was an ideal fit for Saints and he proved that during his time here He did not run out of ideas as he constantly tried different combinations he was undone and so will Jones be a lack of investment in quality PL It is unsurprising we find ourselves at the bottom of the PL with the squad we have now if we had replacements PEH Bertrand Forster Redmond Romeu Ings playing their best we no doubt be in a better position as well as Armstrong JWP and KWP playing as they once did
-
It amazes me that after recruiting young but promising goalkeepers over the last 15 years with none showing they were good enough for the PL we then bought GB with the same outcome at the moment. For the PL you need experienced GKs like Niemmi Boruc Forster even Kelvin was better than Bazuna and sometimes quite inspired
