They may have a bigger catchment area that goes down towards Coventry but the owners do not seem to have any money and the squad is nowhere good enough even Adkits
-
Nigel Hadkins could do well there but with the current owners refusing to buy Boyd because of poor eye sight I think they would ne a nightmare to work for
-
I would suggest you maybe wrong I doubt he has earned much over his career so I would have thought that he would move to another club eventually for a fat signing on fee But like you I dont know what Lambert wants and I doubt he would publise it
-
Are you sure Seemed to me Man U were digging in for 2 1 Perhaps needed more attacking players in second half but a very good result nevertheless Hope the team is not too knackered for Saturday
-
I think you are talking rubbish the clubs you mention are big clubs from big cities when I moved to London in the 1960s I watched Chelsea with crowds of 50000 at Stamford Bridge It is the same in most of Europe the top clubs come from the big cities with big following
-
I dont know if that is true as Kaspar won the championship and Jos did not Probably neither PL Standard
-
I am an OAP so football today is so different when I was a teenager in the 1960s today it is all about money in the PL which I have to accept But I dont like the way Cortese disregards fans I doubt he is doing the best for SFC he is trying to do the best for SFC so he can do the best for himself but I still dont believe he will be as successful as loads on here think because other larger clubs are trying to do the same
-
I thought it was the players who gifted the goals not Adkins I doubt Adkins told Gassa to pass to Yosh who badly controlled the ball so that Swansea could score Be sensible not every loss is down to the manager
-
I thought originally that Adkins would not hack in the PL based soley on his ability to bring in decent players as I feel only about 50% have been truly successful but he did pretty well and 15th position when he left was very creditable and I thought he could keep us in the PL this season. However with Pochettino who probably has better contacts than Adkins we may get in players which will truly enhance the team. I think think Cortese's interpersonal skills are having a particularly bad affect on the club if only he could be more fan friendly and tells us more things would be better I am not suggesting that he should do a Nick Clegg and appear weekly on Radio but a begginning of the season and end of season fans meeting would possibly be a good idea to listen to fans concerns and aspirations
-
Yes I agree with you Wes The interesting point is now are we going to get much better with Mo Po only time will tell We have had a good run recently as I think you are suggesting but of course good runs often end
-
Cortese can of course change managers if he chooses but he seems incapable of behaving like a reasonable person sacking Adkins may well be the correct decision but replacing him with a non English speaking manager with no experience of the PL is risky especially as the team was starting to play well and going up the table. He could have come to the press conference thanking Adkins for all his success in taking us from the relegation zone in League 1 to 15th in the PL. He could then have explained what he wants for the club in the short term as well as the long term and how the new chap is going to achieve it and why he was chosen. It is all well saying half the squad is going to come from the Academy but how is this to be achieved and what is the timescale for this to happen and what funding do we have for future transfers. Instead no in depth statement has been issued or Adkins warmly thanked staff have been told not to talk about the change of manager and apparently had their Facebook and Twitter accounts monitored fans have been prevented from discussing their concerns with the media inside St Mary's and it is suggest that PR plants have been on other forums warmly praising Cortese Now lets get back to tonight and hope we perform well with lots of support from the fans who seem to have been forgotten
-
WHY It does seem that the club is run by a nasty little man no thanks to Adkins Wilkins etc and staff told what to say. I think probably Adkins was not the right long term manager but the way the sacking has been handled has been pretty poor
-
and they were not local lads I suppose Guernsey is local
-
Still think Terry Paine was the better allround footballer winger striker midfield general although MLT was more skillful not sure where the club would be without them Terry for getting us to Div 1 MLT for keeping us there Martin Chivers does not get the kudos on this Forum that he deserves very strong great ball control 96 goals in 175 appearances Channon was very good lots of pace but missed that penalty Boxing day v Arsenal 1973 (I dont bear grudges but met Bob wilson recently who made the save and he said it was all down to Alan Ball one of the most successful players ever to play for SFC who told Bob what to do) that led to our downfall flat mates were fed up with me chanting Channon for England in the early 1970s Great players great times when money was not as important as it is today and Saints supporters were pleasant to each other and not rude like they are today
-
Well they were not better players I can assure you Terry Paine was a great player not a great bloke though unlike Channon and MLT
-
Very well put I am upset with all these foreigners coming in buying our clubs to make a fast buck with no regard to the fans i know everybody hates Pompey but if you forget the rivalry etc they have really been shafted by greedy people I have never been sure about Adkins as a tactitican but as a man manager is was really good unlike Cortese who seems quite crazy and I have always thought his actions bizarre with no regard to SFC staff or fans He has been successful on the back of lamberts success but will this success last only time will tell but he has sacked three managers so far
-
Me too surely more important to get in players rather than a manager Quite a strange decision by a quite a strange Chairman

"Saints considering Mauricio Pochettino" - Daily Mirror
John B replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
Well we will have a next manager sometime so I think it is good that if this is true that Cortese is looking to see what managers are available Even if we get relegated which I feel is very unlikely at the moment Adkins has done well and should remain as manager. The shame is that we have not been that clever in the transfer market not getting a GK or CBs earlier otherwise we could be in mid table -
Another poor signing along with a host of others but we are doing pretty well at the moment so I suppose it does not matter
-
No it does not I doubt whether he would have scored in the 3rd minute if he started
-
Dont think he will frighten attackers like Big John McGrath did
-
My hero Ottery St Mary Saint is the answer to your prayers perhaps
-
Perhaps they are concerned about his ability to play in the PL I doubt that the Norwegian League is any better than our Championship but if he is for the future thats OK but £4m does seem a lot
-
Seems a good move to me but I would still like to see some experience in the team as well but not sure the club are interested. Perhaps if we stay up the plan for producing a young team will be vindicated I hope so
