We do seem to have some of the oddest supporters in the PL
-
-
Cortese not only apparently seems to have brain washed half the first team squad into thinking we would get to the Champions League but numerous fans to However I doubt he was paying CL wages and that is the reason why our top players are leaving I think the same thing happened to Bridge when he first played for England
-
especially as the players only return tomorrow
-
Yes I forgot about that I went to see them v Everton 1974 they won even Ossie scored but we did not stay up and Paine did not play I think he was upset with Lawrie Mac who he felt had taken the team down. Can understand his frustration as it was him and Chivers who got us into Div 1 and it was him who did most to keep us there under Bates
-
Yes sorry stupid The PL is money money money I am afraid Your dreams for SFC of course is very noteworthy but when Man U offer Shaw £100000 per week it is not surprising he left I have supported Saints for over 50 years not because they were likely to win much but because of loyalty apart from Paine and MLT most really good Saints players have left to better themselves playing football is their job. Its not like we are like Pompey with a poor ground who lost their players and money and are now in League 1 We have loads of money and we will be able to build a good team I am looking forward to the new season with a new squad of Saints players
-
We are where we are now because we are Provincial PL Club with a very good Academy The previous CEO/Chairman had ideas which were totally unrealistic We will sell Morgan Adam and Luke who have been at the club since the days of Lowe and have every right to move on to earn more money and get more success
-
It quite amazes me how some people come up with some conclusions contary to the facts and evidence and whats more do not undestand the PL Why would Shaw not want to go to Man U the most famous club in England for £100000 per week We will get in players some may do well some may not that is Football
-
£100000 per week whilst a million people are forced to use Foodbanks Britain today where the rich get rich and the rest of us dont
-
Very well put I was slightly concerned when we were in the Championship and League 1 whether we would get in top youngsters but I dont think that was the case am I right
-
I should imagine in five years time most will have gone
-
I dont see what the problem is if the players want to go let them. I expect some players we get in will be on contracts with their old clubs Rickie was so should we tell new players not to come to SFC because they are on contracts
-
If the club is seen to treat its players poorly when they want to better themselves then new ones will possibly not want to join and younger players may not want long contracts. I have found in life being confrontational is not always the best approach if Adam wants to go I think he should be allowed to go most people reading this board I expect would be ****ed off if their boss made them work when there was a better offer some where else. Of course footballers have signed contracts but that is surely a benefit to SFC because they can get millions when players leave but not much if players had not signed longer contracts but if they are not sold they will eventually leave for nowt How would we get new players in if other clubs adopted your approach I just think it is normal these days for players not to be at clubs for long periods so it is great that we have such a good Academy but you raise an interesting point which I feel is more theoretical than practical Football is a team game we may lose a couple of players and replace them by lesser players but as long as we replace more lesser players with better ones we will progress but I doubt the club has the ability to progress to be a consistent top 6 club but who knows
-
Would be good a have something approaching reality about transfers coming in but I expect that is impossible No South Americans please as they dont seem to perform well at St Mary's - Delgado Ramiriez Osvaldo I think he was originally from South America But Scandinavia or old Yugoslavia are good ie Svensson Svensson Niemi Pahars Golac Louvren
-
Have to agree dont think Adam's value has been enhanced at the WC unlike Shaw who did Pretty well last night I think Shaw will probably go and is likely to be First Choice LB for England but no idea about Lallanna never thought he was worth £25m a bit of a show pony sometimes without the real end product still a pretty good player but not really the Dogs Bollix
-
A decent CB is really important compared with a LB keep Louvren get rid of Shaw Top replacement CBs are hard to find
-
Just sell him £30m is a great deal there is absolutely no guarantee he will become a great LB he possibly will but on the other hand he may not

St. Mary's becomes first European stadium to have LED floodlights
John B replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Following the lifting of a FA ban the first competitive fixture played under floodlights was at the Dell on Monday 1st October 1951 when Southampton Reserves played Spurs Reserves in the Football Combination. There were of course games under floodlights before that but the FA had a ban in 1930 http://www.footballsite.co.uk/Statistics/Articles/DidYouKnow26.htm -
Well said Wes I totally agree I think Koeman will be better than Judas Pochettino
-
If they go they go but it is going to be easier to get in new players I would have thought
-
and the Hoddle supporters too A very good appointment more experienced than MP We have only sold Lambert since the end of the season so I think we should be fully behind Kat and the board and look forward to an exiting season and believe they know what they are doingl
-
I think you should get a life and not be so paranoid All they are doing is reporting what is going on for goodness sake it is the players and manager who dont want to be at SFC
-
I dont really care who the manager is he will either be sacked or leave for better things in a couple of years Apart from Wenger I think probably Pardew is the longest serving PL manager and he has not been there that long
