  1. Meaning basically that he knew in advance that there was no chance whatsoever of his offer being accepted, however as he made it he could brag about it for ever and a day.
  2. After that it's All that Fall.
  3. It depends on how much they've offered doesn't it. If the sum is ridiculously low (say 3.8 million as posted by RocketSwanee) then the component parts are worth more than the offer. The fact that he's waiting for more offers tends to indicate that the one he has isn't very receivable. What you have to remember is that some branches of SLH actually make a profit, how much I have no idea, if the football club losses could be controlled then the affair might be highly rentable.
  4. He's only concerned about making a maximum amount of money to repay the creditors. His brief ends there. What Tchernobyl looks like afterwards really isn't his problem.
  5. Warp Factor 2, Mr Strachan Aye but Capn I hinna enough in the matter/anti matter reaction assembly.
  6. Beckett, being Irish lived in self imposed exile in France from about 1940 onwards.Something to do with the Irish not being involved in WW2 or something.
  7. Well thank you for that party political broadcast on behalf of the Pinnacle party.
  8. Well I don't expect he's changing things from day to day on a random basis. I mean he's obviously looked at cash generation from selling the PLC in component parts from the Stadium down to the staplers in the offices. He'd have some idea of how much he could get, might even have some bids for bits and pieces on the back burner.I suspect that whatever he's got for the whole affair as a going concern isn't realistic in his opinion. Having said all that it's a pity the Board didn't come clean about the state of the nation in January and get the bins and buckets and Charity matches online a lot earlier. We could have avoided a whole lot of trouble.
  9. Not necessarily, if we pay the players this time round then I think we'll be able to start selling some of them immediately afterward so on that front the 21st May hurdle is probably the last. At least 3 million can be obtained from selling players and that's a very conservative estimate cos I'm not counting all the 150Ks that we can get for the young lads. The council might be persuaded to buy the Stadium (with the University) for a knock down 6 or 7 million. Then there's the couple of bits of land and all the equipment that a football club would have hanging about. So unless someone is offering 12/15 million to take everything on as a going concern then their bid will probably get knocked back.
  10. Not that I particularly doubt the truth of the context of the mail but as it's a who said what story there would be no reason whatsoever not to name the source would there. The bloke had an encounter with Lowe so why not name him and know who was taking to whom? It's very easy to say, Lowe said ....to my friends wife's taxi driver's cousin but then it's always a one way street isn't it. No harm can come out of naming the recipients of the alleged retort and it would make it so much more credible.
  11. [quote=TNT;295026 People that claim to know things clearly don't. However I would hazard a guess that any written bids received are unacceptable as they stand and at this time. Whether they will continue to be so is to be seen.
  12. I think Weston said on Saturday that there was only 1 written bid received for the time being.
  13. Don't worry it's a just a close season gabfest, same as every year. The only difference this year is that unless we find 400K by Wednesday week we probably won't have any players, let alone new ones.
  14. And yet Simon Cox is a couple inches shorter and 10 lbs lighter than McGoldrick. It's not about stereotyping it's about aptitude and ability and style of the side you're playing in.I'd be more chuffed if we got a midfielder who can really score goals on a regular basis. 20 yd thunderbolts are what you need, look at Wednesday's game, defence and attack cancelled each other out and both goals came from well hit shots from far out.
  15. I think it's calculated on the basis that for some reason or other only known to a few the match needs to raise £400K,don't ask me why exactly,so they reckon on a £16 average and hope to get 25K I suppose. Whether the VAT man gets a slice of that I've no idea. It will probably go tits up and they'll get about 15K and raise about 250K which although being better than a smack in the balls with a wet fish, doesn't meet the 400£K target. £10 and £1 would leave them way off base although the high prices could backfire completely I suppose
  16. No we will be getting the better end of the deal because it's players we don't forcibly need and a million £ which we definitely do need.If someone gives us money for Rasiak it will avoid us giving him away for nothing. All players sold at the moment for whatever fee is good good news. They all let us down, clear them out if money is offered for them.
  17. Ah no,that's anyone who's out of contract who Mark Wotte doesn't rate. All out of contract players have had to be released whether they get a new offer or not is to been seen later. But as we're not at end of contract day yet no definite action has to be taken .
  18. To be honest if people like Rotch wanted a club they'd buy Skate,Newcastle or West Ham, all better value for money than Southampton. Bigger debts but bigger guaranteed earnings as well. Our buyers will be bit part players who can't afford the luxury range of clubs.
  19. Well someone would have to decide on the price and since the "board" of the FC consists of Dave Jones and some obscure accountant the making of "commercial policy" might be a tricky matter. Imagine they sold tickets for say £320 and we ended up with a side similar to Eastleigh's or Salisbury's,would you think that was alright.Of course not and then the moaning, groaning and sniping would start all over again, not that it completely stopped mind you.
  20. That's probably about the amount they could buy out for. Rasiak and McG might have stability clauses in their contracts. Rasiak has a year so 52x10K(ish) McG 3 year contract in September 2008,so 2 years left but he's been here at least 3 years so buy out would be 115(or so)x whatever he earns say 3K/wk = 445K, so a million for the pair sounds about right.
  21. I think that's a bit of an urban myth actually. Someone told me today that in the event of a club going out of business and reforming a 2 division drop is the penalty .So if we did fold and really restart we could (in theory) start in the conference.
  22. How long is a piece of string?
