tell him that not me, it's what he said. I was totally against playing first teamers last night, it never ends well anyway.

Sheff Utd 1-0 Saints Post match carnage.
Window Cleaner replied to Edmonton Saint's topic in The Saints
I think you're overdramatising the effect that senior staff presence has on players. Anyway Reed was surely there and to me the other 2 have no importance whatsover as far as the team is concerned. -
But then you could apply the same measure to Long,Tadic,Mané,Gardos and even Pelle. We sold players for more than they were worth we bought other players for more than they're worth.....football economics eh.
-
Beat Palace and Arsenal, lose the other 2 , start the year in about 8th place.
-
We couldn't score, scoring is the ultimate decider in football, you can be **** as you like and then score 2 goals and win, at the end of the day you get the 3 points and the others don't. Too much emphasis on quality and not enough on result. You play football at that level to win not be the unlucky loser.
-
Meaning that you greatly overestimated the capabilities of Gardos then, or that we didn't sign someone that we might have? NB You hit the wall in the marathon for 2 reasons a: Your preparation is inadequate or b: you've set off too fast and have burned all of your glucose reserves too early and then suffer the brutal effect of trying to burn fats and or proteins. A good marathon is run at even pace or at a slightly (and I mean minimal) higher pace in the second half. I do wish people would not use this analogy to intimate that a marathon is not an even paced affair.

Is also caught offside a lot I think.

Long is a journeyman professional, we paid 12 million £ for him apparently so we've been stupid there, guess we must have been desperate or paid less than is reported. Then again Hull have saddled themselves with Gaston for a season, bit of a fee and a couple of million in salary so perhaps Nemesis caught up with them. We should not have paid as much for Long, they shouldn't have taken Gaston off our hands so we're sort of even'ish.

And then Koeman said we don't handle mistakes as well as those clubs, he's pretty definitive about these things, t'were that many of our fans would be as definite. Then we'd have a jolly sight less of this we played well and lost so that's ok stuff and a bit more of the Koeman approach who's said that our last 2 performances are not good enough. The bloke is saying this stuff, so why dull it down really.
-
However Koeman was very specific the other day, we need to finish in a EL position and higher if possible (although he seemed to think that unlikely). I'm not making this target up, he said it was what we need to achieve, not hope to achieve or some other expression that could be construed as maybe, maybe not. we need to do that...definite no messing.
-
Who knows, perhaps our tactical experts wrongly assessed Utd's weaknesses. Players don't just do whatever they fancy on the pitch, they have a set plan, if we were doing that then it's what they'd been told to do.
-
Not that I'd totally agree with you but let's face it who is as bad as Gazzaniga really!
-
Oh do give over, he's just played too many games that's all. Rotation of the CBs hasn't happened, well apart from Toby going forward of late and Maya getting a game or two. We have 4 CBs, that shouldn't be 2+2 that should be a straightforward 4. Too many players playing too many games for sure but lay off José, he's done well but has been worn down.
-
Talking to me ? Yes we should not have played the 2 senior CMs, just as I said yesterday, what I feared happened exactly as I feared it would. We lost and picked up suspensions by the bucket load.
-
Perhaps he's the 7 million £ player that Hull bought him to be eh. Perhaps the transfer fee is overquoted as well.
-
I think we struggled to score goals last season when JRod went down, changed the end of our season for sure, he was on fire and boosted by his England call. Can't wait to get him back, he's just what we're missing, fast, hard, good in the air and adroit in front of goal (usually). Him taking so long to get back is seriously damaging us because I don't doubt that the club expected him back (even in cameos) by now.
-
Although some might argue that we were 2nd because Utd,Arsenal and to some extent City had atrocious starts, probably due to games between themselves or WC players not being available or whatever have you. 5th is still good, so would 6th be at the end of the season but anything else would be below expectations of many because Koeman said we need to make the EL.
-
And Forster...he's alright though so that's 10 million (a bit steep it's true) in the not so dusty column.
-
Koeman has done a good job but he got it all wrong last night. No manager in his right mind would send his only 2 DMs out on 4 cards in the first place, to then compound it by taking the booked one off in a game that was getting tetchy even to the manager's benches, it was just suicidal. Unless of course he wanted them both to miss the Everton game and be available for Palarse and Chelsea for sure.
-
Not by me that's for sure.
-
Now I see that he's whining about Clough not showing him respect...welcome to England Ronald.
-
Not quite with you there but when you have 3 CMs of which one is injured and the other 2 on 4 yellows you do not send them both out against a 3 rd division side in a MM Cup game on a northern quagmire in midwinter. To boot you put your regular LB at LM and a kiddy at LB, you then realise that the kiddy isn't getting the job done at HT so you take him off, play your regular LB at LB and put a no hoper at LM. Then when you need to take one of your CMs off because the other has been booked you can't because you've wasted your sub possibilities on some half baked schema that dawned on you whilst you were having a crap or something. Koeman was criticised for some of his decisions in Spain, I can see why now. I mean when Victor got booked the game was up for him, no game on Saturday, so take Morgan off and leave Toby in MF with Victor, nope he leaves Morgan on to get booked and takes Victor off.
-
aided and abetted by the powder puff midfield that we'll be forced to put out thanks to Koeman's stupidity.
-
Koeman said he wasn't fit for last night and he doesn't appear in any of the training galleries, depends what's wrong with him really, could be something quite minor or a recurrence of the injury he had a while back.
