Wickham did score a fair few goals for Sheffield as well this season, nothing for Leeds mind you. Perhaps he's just finally got his act together and is starting to confirm some of the potential he showed at Ipswich...from there to be the next Zlatan...well that's a big leap.

England World Cup Squad - Lambert, Lallana and Shaw included

Terry doesn't do England any more and Coleman is of course Irish. Cork won't go so you need 3 more players. Walker, Jones and no doubt the kid from Everton who was useless last week. -
What the hell is the matter with the Daily Mail ???

Won't make a bit of difference to a pro-footballer. -
Nothing new, papers were running Liverpool target Lovren stories at least a month ago. Same old, same old just being rehashed and going round in circles. You can see why, Liverpool won't want to risk Touré ever again at CB, Sakho is handy but has off days and that just leaves Agger and Skrtel who are both being eyed up by Napoli and their ex manager Benitez.

Hah, told you so....... Tin medal please.

In fact Newcastle have taught us all a lesson this season, that being that you need to be careful who you sell because some players are very difficult to replace. In the 20 games in which Cabaye participated they obtained 34 points, in the other 16 so far just 12. -

In fact if you look at betting odds Liverpool have been favourites to sign Lallana for a fair while now, odds are pretty short as well. Why that is I couldn't say, they must have had some money dobbed on it but it's nothing new. They're CL bound and they're not that strong in his position. -

Honestly with the current ratio of TV Money to Gate Receipts a few more thousand on the gate wouldn't change all that much. The more people you have through the turnstiles the more staff you need to sell them tickats and police them. Until we start selling out every game Krueger is probably right. TV Money= 2 million +£ per game, that's 50000 people at 40£ a ticket I think, probably more when you count VAT.. -
Spain,Germany,Portugal but nothing is ever worth having from Italy. Their football is more of a social event than anything else.
-
Which is why one needs to stop thinking so insularly. The best bargains aren't to be had in the UK. No one else from Italy though thanks.

Did he actually turn up ? Thought it might have been a cardboard cut-out. Probably far more concerned about his WC with Belgium than whether Everton finish 4th or 5th. Too many late WC hope ending injuries have occured these last few weeks for it not to concern players . If he went down on Saturday and was out for any time that would leave Belgium without a real front man.

Justly, we really aren't that far off, it would be a pity to let it all go to waste. We've had a few really bad results that have harmed our progress this season, most of them due to injuries but a couple due to plain inefficiency in front of goal (like Cardiff and West Ham at home,) -

I assumed that the 35 million includes whatever we might get for the players we obviously don't want to keep. If we could get 15-18 million for them then I think an extra 17 million or so from this years PL revenue might be considered perfectly reasonable. Hard to estimate this years revenue precisely but it must be approaching 90 million or so all told (PL+Matchday+Commercial) -
Good knock, we clearly needed to accelerate and Vince has done that for us this morning, pity we lost Adams when he tried to push on though, still Smith isn't so bad when we need quick runs. Need to get as many as possible by tea and then have a bowl at them.

Five quid, probably save you millions in anti-depressant drugs though. -

Clyne was excellent on Saturday, solid defensively and gives us so much more going forward than Chambers. Pity we started messing him about with Chambers actually, although he has had a few injuries this season. -
Shaw is overpriced if even available so they're going for a less expensive but adequate option. Said it loads of times last week, no-one will give us 30 million for Shaw, not this summer anyway. There is better available (not talking about potential but actual state) for far less.

He said he is last Friday but we also have (or at least had) a recruitment manager...Paul Mitchell.

Sky Sports saying Wickham could make the England plane.
Window Cleaner replied to Saints boy in Leeds's topic in The Saints
But what are the alternatives, Wickham has scored 5 in 3 games, all from open play I think. He's leading their line well and has good control of the ball. Don't think he'll be in with a chance myself but the alternatives aren't great either, not as target men anyway. -

Don't know, he's certainly had a decent couple of games of late, probably too late in the day for him to be in the running for the WC though. Unless Roy is determined to have a front man who actually wins the ball in the air on occasions, depends on where we are with the other front men. -
Not seen Mourinho's interview for the Liverpool game then ?

Window Cleaner replied to cellone's topic in The Saints
It's what happens when you spend a lot of money on players from Italy. The vast majority do not make the grade because their football is so slow and is virtually a non-contact sport. A striker usually has plenty of time to pick his spot from 18 yards out and put a training ground shot past the keeper. Osvaldo and Lamela came from Roma where they scored about 17 and 15 goals respectively this season, they've come to the PL and done very little, whereas Gervinho who was amongst the PLs biggest piles of crap has turned into a wonder striker again at Roma. Says it all about Italian football, not to mention Jovetic or Gaston amongst many others.
