  1. Spain,Germany,Portugal but nothing is ever worth having from Italy. Their football is more of a social event than anything else.
  2. Which is why one needs to stop thinking so insularly. The best bargains aren't to be had in the UK. No one else from Italy though thanks.
  3. Indeed, when you add on ticket sales for next season and commercial revenues (including a decent shirt sponsorship deal) it's hard to understand some of the piffle spouted by the board of late. We could in theory have reduced out player salary mass to about 50% of revenue.
  4. Did he actually turn up ? Thought it might have been a cardboard cut-out. Probably far more concerned about his WC with Belgium than whether Everton finish 4th or 5th. Too many late WC hope ending injuries have occured these last few weeks for it not to concern players . If he went down on Saturday and was out for any time that would leave Belgium without a real front man.
  5. I don't know exactly how accurate this is, gives us an idea of how much each place is worth though.
  6. Justly, we really aren't that far off, it would be a pity to let it all go to waste. We've had a few really bad results that have harmed our progress this season, most of them due to injuries but a couple due to plain inefficiency in front of goal (like Cardiff and West Ham at home,)
  7. I assumed that the 35 million includes whatever we might get for the players we obviously don't want to keep. If we could get 15-18 million for them then I think an extra 17 million or so from this years PL revenue might be considered perfectly reasonable. Hard to estimate this years revenue precisely but it must be approaching 90 million or so all told (PL+Matchday+Commercial)
  8. Good knock, we clearly needed to accelerate and Vince has done that for us this morning, pity we lost Adams when he tried to push on though, still Smith isn't so bad when we need quick runs. Need to get as many as possible by tea and then have a bowl at them.
  9. Five quid, probably save you millions in anti-depressant drugs though.
  10. Clyne was excellent on Saturday, solid defensively and gives us so much more going forward than Chambers. Pity we started messing him about with Chambers actually, although he has had a few injuries this season.
  11. Shaw is overpriced if even available so they're going for a less expensive but adequate option. Said it loads of times last week, no-one will give us 30 million for Shaw, not this summer anyway. There is better available (not talking about potential but actual state) for far less.
  12. He said he is last Friday but we also have (or at least had) a recruitment manager...Paul Mitchell.
  13. But what are the alternatives, Wickham has scored 5 in 3 games, all from open play I think. He's leading their line well and has good control of the ball. Don't think he'll be in with a chance myself but the alternatives aren't great either, not as target men anyway.
  14. Don't know, he's certainly had a decent couple of games of late, probably too late in the day for him to be in the running for the WC though. Unless Roy is determined to have a front man who actually wins the ball in the air on occasions, depends on where we are with the other front men.
  15. Not seen Mourinho's interview for the Liverpool game then ?
  16. It's what happens when you spend a lot of money on players from Italy. The vast majority do not make the grade because their football is so slow and is virtually a non-contact sport. A striker usually has plenty of time to pick his spot from 18 yards out and put a training ground shot past the keeper. Osvaldo and Lamela came from Roma where they scored about 17 and 15 goals respectively this season, they've come to the PL and done very little, whereas Gervinho who was amongst the PLs biggest piles of crap has turned into a wonder striker again at Roma. Says it all about Italian football, not to mention Jovetic or Gaston amongst many others.
  17. Perhaps he thinks we can get to the play-offs eh
  18. Can't say why they see it that way, I wouldn't even give Deulofeu 6. Everton were very, very poor, it might have not looked that way in the ground but on TV it looked as if they couldn't be arsed most of the time or didn't want to get injured. Barkley,Barry and McCarthy just didn't exist and our lads had a walk through afternoon...did that well though.
  19. It was Osman wasn't it ???
  20. This is about right, Lovren definitely brought down Osman and it was a penalty to them, they had an offside given against them that wasn't and Delefeou was clean through. We had 2 handballs not given, evened itself out really.
  21. I thought Everton were pretty awful, didn't look interested, let us do what we wanted for most of the game. Saints played well but Everton were poor.
  22. Indeed very poor today, probably missed Mirallas's contribution to their offensive game . Can't see why people rate either Barkley or Deleofeu (?) very poor players today. Glad to see we're not the only ones who crumble when faced with a raft of key injuries.
  23. Why should he think he might be going anywhere else ? We've had no enquiries or offers and nobody is probably for sale. Needs to get his ducks in a row with Reed then.
  24. Good result, we played our usual game and they didn't really turn up, except to score 2 OGs. Poor reffing but as it evened itself out it doesn't really matter. Thought Clyne added another dimension today.
  25. Undecided about today, hoping for at least a good game but I can see us getting crushed.
