There are a lot of things they (meaning the board) have to do and then we'll see. How is that not controversial from a senior player? It is an ultimatum not a friendly word in the suggestions box.
-
I think it's a fairly controversial interview for a player to give actually. Perhaps he's been misrepresented by the Echo, who knows. Seems like he knows he has nothng to lose, either he helps his manager get a better deal and a better squad or he's out of here anyway. Do our players usually give interviews to the Echo ?
-
He wants to move forward, think non-selection for the WC when there are lesser players in his role has dealt him an awful blow. There is no way garbage like Guilavogui or Mavuba should be in the French side ahead of him, if it's down to being in Deschamps line of sight then he's obviously determined to correct that. Also I fear that some of our players might be concerned about our squad depth, to see yourself slipping down the table because you have to play with junk like Jos and Gazza might displease more than one.

Obviously gave himself a bonus for getting a good manager for a poor salary.
-
Salary is an issue, no-one likes to feel underpaid for the task they're doing and by all accounts MP is one of the least paid managers in the PL.
-
Once again he's not started all of the games. If you look at the list (which I suspect is false anyway) most of the players have started 31,32,33 games and been subbed very little.Given that these CMs run 12k or so a game minimum just missing one start knocks you back a bit. I'm sure that the individual game figures are available on Statzone or something and there you'll see who actually runs most in games played.
-
He won't stay with us next season for 20K a week, he's a professional guy though and will do his job whilst he's here and that means preparing for next season.
-
I suspect that they're hoping to maintain the status quo and milk it for all it's worth for the time being.
-
No other job for him elsewhere ? Where do you get that from then. There are plenty of other jobs for bright football managers, some that you might not even suspect. I don't buy into the Van Gaal is a done deal thingy, he's 63 this summer and has been off of the club circuit for a while, bit of a dinosaur. When I saw his dutch side against France they were lamentably poor, it certainly wasn't a game plan that would get him anywhere in the PL. Wasn't there an article in the Telegraph this week hhttp://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/tottenham-hotspur/10749775/Mauricio-Pochettino-and-Louis-van-Gaal-on-Spurs-wish-list-as-Tim-Sherwood-prepares-to-go.html

Which is quite obvious really. As I've said many times players want to be all they can be and that means playing at the highest standards which they believe reachable to them. When Cortese went I said that it would cause some consternation among the top players because they want European football and Cortese seems to have promised it to them or at least led them to believe that it was our immediate goal. Morgan turned down a move to Sociedad last season because he believed that he would get European football with Saints in the forseeable future. That decision probably cost him a place at the WC. Then in January he almost went to Arsenal but we were supposedly asking for too much and there was neither time or a structure in place to haggle, that was his last chance of a WC place this summer. So now he's come out and said it, with or without the club's consent I suspect that if they're prepared to invest in "the dream" he and other top players will be willing to stay, if not it's sayonara, or in his case àdieu..........

Who cares, Cardiff FC is just a circus.
-
Who says we have 35 million to spend in the summer ?
-
We'll see when the full interview actually hits the OS. Strange that it hasn't already, can't believe that he's given a maverick interview just to the Echo.
-
He may well be looking for a salary hike way beyond what the the board are initially prepared to offer. I believe he's poorly paid as PL managers go so he could even be looking to double his salary and those of his aides. Then there's the question of team strengthening, may be looking for some guarantees there as well along lines of previous agreements he may or may not have had wth NC. No football manager could possibly be content with certain situations that exist at SFC (like the GK options) and yet the board seem reluctant to do much about them.
-
Everton are also a very old team, comparatively speaking, if they suddenly need to start replacing their old men and their loan players they are going to be in a crappy situation. In theory they could need to sign up to 8 players this summer and if you're looking for CL quality then that's going to be pretty costly.
-
I'm not, it's the Daily Mail.
-
Loan is not really the apt word for cases like Lukaku, it should be called "renting". His 'loan' fee is around 4 million £ for the season plus of course his salary in full, probably 70K a week'ish. Great if it works out, not so much if the player gets injured or is a bit of a flop.
-
I have no idea, they are basically Germans who as we all know tend to react badly to ultimata.
-
Can't believe he actually said that THFC is a possibility for him though. They have a manager don't they ?
-
Of course it is but some (viz the "board") might well see it as an ultimatum.
-
Might get his wrist smacked for that. 3 to 5 new players ? Main players indicating that some are more equal than others ? He's right of course as some have been saying for a while. This says to me, invest and sign up Mauricio or I (and perhaps others) am off to play for a top 5 side.
-
All I can see that might be different is one player without a number with his back to the camera. Must have missed any Mexican looking blokes.
-
Agent bolloax is a global affair nowadays.
-
But was it not put about as being direct from a senior club official that Mauricio's contract is automatically prolonged on improved terms if we finish at least 8th this season. Why bother rushing to negociate if there is already an automatic process in place ?
-
If Poch goes we should go for him
Window Cleaner replied to Barry Sanchez's topic in The Muppet Show
If Mauricio should leave which I'm sure he won't, we'll probably get a German manager, one who's doing quite well in the Championship perhaps.
