  1. Blokes like Rush and Aldridge would probably have difficulty getting a game now let alone score shedloads of goals. Football has moved on since their day. Which is why clubs are falling over themselves to pay 59 milion for Suarez and Cavani and not sign up lads from Birkenhead U18s or whatever it is. As for Hooper we shall see shortly won't we. Sharp was limited in the NPC last season and will never ever make the grade in the EPL.
  2. probably because of the number of credit checks being run  Aren't too many supposed to be nocive ?
  3. Valencia will want transfers to go through before the 4th of August...some sort of tax reason or other. So it's soon or probably not at all...which is the most likely. Still like to see something in the full back line myself, in addition to a top striker of course. Just don't have the confidence in Shaw that the rest of you seem to have. Mainly because I don't expect him to play much more than 25 games in the season and to me Fox is just a disaster (or disasters) waiting to happen.
  4. do you actually write for Janes Alps ?
  5. Indeed, the higher the level the more difficult goals are to come by. Keepers are better and defenders don't leave sloppy balls hanging about the area that you just have to toe punt in. We saw that on Wednesday, neither of their goal occasions should have existed and wouldn't have with good defenders in fully functional mode. That's where blokes like Sharp and Hooper fall down, the type of chances they score just don't exist in top level football. Chances have to be crafted and then clinically finished. Until we have a striker capable of that we'll be mediocre.
  6. Ramirez I doubt, Lambert will probably want to leave when he finds out he's not first choice any more.
  7. is there not a GCS project which resemble strangely the Franco-Italian FREMMs (of which the Aquitaine is the first) ?
  8. Marine Nationale, are the navy building anything modern just now though ?
  9. a real frigate.. had a personalised tour of her the other day, incredibly complex. Operated by a really reduced crew of about 90, mind you half of them are PhDs and MScs.
  10. defending not enough of it it I hope then.
  11. well they've been trying to sign him these last 2 years so I'd guess that they've just given up the chase and moved on to targets they can actually sign. Got a feeling we're missing out on strikers who'd improve us whilst we run after the unreachable for some reason or other.
  12. I'm going to go for Wanyama...next season's Gaston methinks.
  13. not that it's particularly relevant here but I see that Hibs demonstrated the exact quality of Scottish football against Malmo last evening.
  14. so does that mean that "the family" took back some of their invested £sss ?
  15. not last season though.
  16. so our capital is now less ?
  17. he'll turn us down anyway. Turns everyone down, Lyon are desperate to sell him but only at their price, Gomis is in no hurry to go anywhere. Probably end up at Newcastle though...why I've absolutely no idea. Sheep mentality no doubt.
  18. Roma are thinking about signing Gervinho..good luck with that then lads...I suppose it's Garcia using his new found wealth to buy back all his old boys. Don't think Garcia will have much time for Osvaldo though.
  19. why offer part of a pony when we've got donkeys aplenty to offer.
  20. think Poch will be desperately disappointed not to have signed a first rate striker by now. Another season of Lambert ...no thanks, slow as a donkey yesterday.
  21. I can only hope that the coaching team are trying to choose the lesser of 2 evils for the bench job.
  22. watched the whole game and would admit to be just slightly concerned because I saw the same old same old. Nothing at the sharp end and errors I'd kick U15s out of the team for at the back.
  23. Channel 451 it is then, 2 blokes discussing pianos right now ..how sporting is that, perhaps they have piano throwing in Germany though.
  24. money is simply an accounting notion at Real, if they get 37 million euros for Higuain (which is a ridiculous sum anyway) they won't be happy until they've spent it. Their socios expêct them to spend at least 100 million € a season.
  25. Islamists don't hold with gambling afaik (there again there are no gays either) If you look closely at the photo Cissé seems to have something in his hand, chips no doubt (and not those wrapped in newspaper either) A sharia law islamist shouldn't be anywhere near a casino.
