When we (meaning the owner) ran out of money I suspect.
-
What can you expect for 2 totally pointless international games really. Obviously the play-offs have some importance but the rest is just to fill the coffers of national associations. Top players have largely enough games as it is without worthless friendlies.
-
When Pochettino left.
-
Why are they using the Last Post at football matches anyway ? Might be more relevent when they stop these pesky international breaks so that Remembrance Sunday for football does not fall on or about All Saints Day. That way there will be no confusion as to the occasion being celebrated. All Saints for those gone within the year, Last Post for the fallen military who nobody has ever clapped.
-
And exactly why would they give up the jobs that they already have for an inferior club ?? You have to face it, we are very far from the top of the pecking order for both players and managers.
-
Certainly not. You do realise that in what, a bit above 3 years, we'd have gone from Pochettino, probably one of the world's finest young managers at this time to Bilic who's just been sacked by West Ham for some pretty dire performances. That would be like going from shopping at Harrods to shopping at Poundwise . We'd need to get a young go ahead guy with some sort of early promise behind him and not the first old lag that we could get to sign for us. Nevertheless I don't think we'll give up on Pellegrino just yet.
-
Probably didn't fancy playing for a fat peasant like Unsworth.
-
Absolutely, a regular 20 goal a season striker makes any manager look good.
-
No, just no.
-
They did buy Keane though, thought he started quite well. Just seems to have all collapsed like a house of cards. Perhaps Unsworth has been trying to get the job in the background for a while now. Know nothing about him really but seems if he might be that sort of bloke.

Sacking Puel was a dumb thing to do. Now that we have we need to stick with the manager that we have because there is no real guarantee that whoever we appoint will be any better.
-
They shouldn't have re-signed Roose the Booze.
-
Now I raised his lack of premier league experience before he was appointed. I was assured by the forum experts that as he'd been assistant to Benitez at Scouse, then he had all the experience needed. Thing is we ain't in 2007 any more and the PL has vastly changed as many managers are finding out just now. However, clubs just cannot keep on hiring managers and sacking them a few months afterwards. That has to change really. Perhaps it's the people choosing the managers that need to change at this time.
-
Well I thought we controlled the game in the main, but if you can't score you're always just an opposition break away from going behind. Football is, and always has been, about scoring more goals than the opposition. All of the rest is just auxilliary.
-
Not such a good eye for a manager after all then !! https://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?58744-MP-Sweepstake/page2&highlight=Pellegrino#.Wf3wiFvWy1s

Hadn't Hoedt been whingeing in the week before the game ?
-
Well to be fair Mahrez is the sort of do it yourself game winner that few sides possess. Think we'd have done far better with Mahrez. Few sides wouldn't. Mind you he's the sort of player who might not take to oafs like Shakespeare.
-
Possibly, but there were some nasty periods all the same, didn't find getting dicked 8-0 by Everton any too fun, nor 7-1 to Leeds a while afterwards. Think that was about ' 72 wasn't it ? Not a great year.
-
Alehouse football ring any bells? It really was that (well by today's standards anyway) No-one cared anyway, we went to see the Saints win.
-
Seems to me that the average age of top of the pile international footballers is getting lower and lower. Mind you, given the age at which most players start nowadays they're probably burnt out by 28 or 29. Looks to be the case with nearly all of those we've sold for biggish fees these last years. Hardly one of them seems to play regularly now.

Random Ex- Academy Player Transfer News no-one will care about...

And Griffit plays semi-pro non-league football at Aulnoye in the north of France. -
Perhaps he wasn't even rated above the Chelsea Ladies coach, which would about sum up the value of the list really.
-
Depends what those people want really doesn't it. If they want half decent results then it'll be OK, if they still maintain that they want to be entertained, well then who knows. I'd like to have seen some of these "entertain me" fans back in the 60's and 70s, some matches were that dire but in those days winning counted above all else.

Hampshire CCC 2018 Season thread.

I see that Holland has now been signed up for 2 more years. Good move, his contributions were pretty valuable towards the end of the season. -
Well I think they did sort of almost sell Barkley to Chelsea but he wanted to go to Spurs and blew the deal out and then conveniently got injured somehow so that he wasn't expected to play for Everton anyway. The power of a player to **** off everybody concerned and still collect a handsome salary anyway at it's finest. The Pochettino magnet was obviously turned up to full power there.
