  1. Bearing in mind all of the above I suspect that I am an agnostic atheist
  2. Bizarrely his column was on the same page as the excellent preview for the man city game which was praising the skills of adam lallana
  3. Forgot to say how ultra impressed I was with Nat Clyne - could be the signing of the season for us.
  4. Lucky you weren't at the front of the upper tier then!! We were in row B and I thought the guys in the front row were going to throw themselves over after the second goal! brilliant day out - talked to loads of city fans on walk back to station and waiting for the train and to be fair they were all really surprised with how well we played. What a stadium - this is what being Premier League is all about. Really loved our two years in L1 with trips to Rochdale, Hartlepool etc - but you can't beat going to the top grounds. To be honest I went into yesterdays game dreading the worst, but came out really so proud to be a saints fan. I wouldn't criticise any of our players. When the team sheets came out there were a lot of perplexed faces around that Lambert wasn't starting - mine included - I thought it looked like being an ultra cautious line up from Adkins - but I think he got it spot on. And unlike the other thread about Rodrigues, I was really impressed with him I thought he looked really useful - excellent first touch and made some good passes and lay offs. It was clear that he was meant to play deep - we had 10 men being the ball most of the time. First time I've seen Davies too - ho looked more than useful when he came on and took his goal so cooly. We went to the Museum of Football before the game - as did quite a few Saints fans - I thought it was rally excellent - especially as it's free.
  5. just seen this bit in the telegraph http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/competitions/premier-league/9482011/Premier-League-2012-13-season-preview-live.html That's a good enough reason for signing!!
  6. is this as well as the Official Matt Phillips bid?
  7. This almost as exciting as the PTS in the lounge!!
  8. Wimbledon to Wloo overground train every few mins. I often walk to Holborn/Grays Inn Road (about 20mins briskly) but there are loads of buses from Wloo to Holborn area literally every half minute at peak times (the olympics has screwed up the traffic north over Wloo bridge at the moment - but usually its only a few mins on the bus to Holborn)
  9. that was painless online - linked two st's and bought two mancity tickets in less than a couple of mins. Much clearer than previous seasons.
  10. Surprised eric & phil haven't mentioned the old Dubai rugby 7's stadium - 20,000 plus at it's biggest
  11. Same here - I share an office with a chelsea ST, a stoke ST and a newcastle fan and until now I have refused to get into any discussions about the premier league. To be fair, all three of them think we will do alright (ie - survive) but the stoke fan also thinks that our last game of the season could be decisive!
  12. It would be great if we are in the same position and struggle to make a euro spot. Be a lot better than struggling not to make a relegation spot
  13. sky odds to stay-up Newcastle 1/200 Everton 1/200 Sunderland 1/33 Fulham 1/33 Aston Villa 1/16 Stoke 1/16 QPR 1/8 West Brom 1/7 Swansea 4/11 West Ham 4/11 Wigan 1/2 Norwich 1/2 Southampton 4/7 Reading 4/6
  14. sky have us as 2nd faves for relegation at 5/4 - Reading faves at 11/10
  15. Just had a look at this on google earth and the original line of the track is clearly seen on the opposite side of the existing line behind the Kingsland Stand by the line of trees cutting across the playing fields as mentioned above
  16. Quite bizarre - I was on a train going into Victoria Station this morning and the Orient Express was just being pulled in for one of it's regular tours of southern England by the Merchant Navy Class #35028 “Clan Line” locomotive. (Actually to be accurate, they were being pulled in backwards by what looked to be a hefty diesel unit). Quite a sight though.
  17. One of the best players I have ever seen in a Saints shirt - but he was a "could have been great" for us
  18. This is ancient history and anyway 99% of sun readers will a) never have heard of our claus and b) wonder what was wrong anyway
  19. included the amazingly understated quote.... he's right - only a few
  20. been watching the webcasts from CERN all morning - looks like they have
  21. The Harp is my favourite central London pub as well - this was the Camra UK pub of the year last year and deservedly so. It's small and can get really cosy, but beer and service is excellent. and in addition to those already mentioned.......some of my favourites... The Bree Louise - near Euston Station - a bit out of the way but has upto a dozen real ales plus several real ciders - most of the ale delivered by gravity behind the bar. Also get 50p off a pint if you a Camra card member (lunchtime pies are also legendary). Just off bottom of High Holborn, a hundred yards up Hatton Garden (worth a browse for jewelry etc) is Ye Olde Mitre. Down a very narrow passage and easily missed, this is one of the hidden gems, claims to be one of the oldest pubs in London and has regular mini themed beer festivals - but usually is closed at weekends. This just around the corner from my office so is quite handy! If you are only interested in the beer and not the quality of the pub The Craft Beer Co in Leather Lane Market (one of the street markets - specialises in cheap clothes) and even closer to my office has on average 12 hand pumps and about 16 craft beers (mostly belgian, german french etc). Half way down High Holborn on the left with the Clock outside is one of the Sam Smiths pubs - The Cittie of Yorke - which is worth a visit .
  22. On the local scene - I just happen to be reading "The Fulcrum Files" by Mark Chisnell. It's a thriller/spy novel set in the pre-war era of Supermarine (Spitfire development - hence the spy bit) and the Hamble/Bursledon sailing scene - which makes it more interesting. I'm a great crime/thriller/spy novel fan but this one hasn't got my pulse racing yet. Lots of local landmarks get mentioned plus "Saints loss to Bradford in the second division". (Haven't checked this out for authenticity yet!) I'll certainly pick up Rollover when it's out in paperback or kindle
  23. not stripey enough for me
