They haven't got the best home record either - 20th on home form: P6 W1 D3 L2 F7 A8 GD-1 Having said that we are only 8th on away form P6 W2 D2 L2 F11 A9 GD2 I feel a 3rd away win coming here

Ta! So after 6 home games we are averaging 25310. Last season after the first 6 homes (ok we were 13th then but on the way up) we were averaging 20,801. That's a pretty healthy increase of almost 22% over the same stagelast season IMO Our season average last year was 22161, and I reckon if we are still in the top 6 after christmas we will be getting 27k+

All the papers and now Football365 stats have the attendance 32,150. Obviously very critical as our average home crowd is either 25,309 or 25,310!!!!

Lived there for 8 years. My philosophy was "every day was a holiday". I would never put any one off moving there. As with every where - there loads of positives and negatives. And what is good for one person isn't for another. EoA will give you the latest up to date info, but happy to give my completely independent and unbiased views if required.

In the wilds of northern Poland at the moment. Got to Gdansk airport this morning and went to pick up my prebooked Astra type car. "Sorry sir, we've run out of those" in a very Polish accent, "is it OK if you take a top of the range Merc at no extra cost?" Took me several nano seconds to make the very difficult decision to accept. I had to wait around for a couple of hours for a colleague to come in from Calgary via London and Dusseldorf. He came economy Air Canada to London. But because he booked through Air Canada in Calgary they upgraded him to First Class (him being an ordinary frequent flyer member). So we have been discussing who got the better deal? (clearly not me but I'm chuffed to bits as I've got the merc till next Friday when I get back just in time to get to Derby!)

Looks like Burnley will have their hands full in every department Half decent analysis though

We lived in Dubai. Our two eldest children were on a flight from London. I'd gone home to collect my wife and the first plane had just hit - obviously when your kids are on a plane it makes you worry, doesn't matter where they are going. When we got to DXB it was crawling with half the Emirates army (clearly been tipped off that EricOf Arabia was on his way). Bizarrely my boss was on his way back from Houston - via New York and his plane was diverted to some small airport in the boondocks. There were not enough hotels in town for the half dozen planes that had been diverted there so he was eventually bussed back to Houston and couldn't get out for well over a week.

For his first game he showed promise! What I liked about him was that he seemed to work well with Fonte and he looks comfortable on the ball, also has a good first touch, control and can really pass a ball well. half decent traits for a CB. I don't think you can put the blame solely on him for either goal. The back four were cut open with the speed of forest down our right side (corkie looked out of position for me) and especially for the first one, him and fonte were desperately slow in getting back to cover when the forest guy cut it across (same for the second as well). For me he looks a half decent signing Also it didn't help have 3/4 of a new back four playing today.

Have to say that was one of the best football matches I have seen for a long time. Two very evenly matched teams - don't forget that forest are loads of pundits favourites for a top six position, and I can see why. They played some great football at times especially the first 15 mins of the second half when they came out like an express train and we did really well to keep them out. After 70mins I would have settled for a draw as I think most people in St Mary's would have. I also thought that the first two subs by mclaren worked in our favour. Miller really impressed me - everything you want in a striker - strong, good in the air, half decent touch and able to throw his toys out of the pram when he falls over in the box. OK we had some enforced weaknesses at the back down the flanks but overall we just deserved to win. We put loads of preessure on them in the last 1/4 and apart from the penalty appeal which I couldn't see from the Chapel, I thought we just shaded it. We are going to have many more really close games in this league and if we are still in with a shout of the top six come the end of April nobody will be happier than me. Having said that - I have been so impressed with Saints so far this season. So far we have played five of the top rated sides - Leeds, Millwall, Ipswich. Leicester and Forest. None of them have made us look like new comers to this league and I think our squad depth will bode us well for the rest of the season.

Hmmmmm - Fermats last theorem I believe - there is no solution to this

The rise and fall of Saints and Bompey
dellboypete replied to southbourne saint's topic in The Saints
yes -amazing to look back. We were 22nd after the 7th game last season -
This seems to be the crux of the problem. There is a long article on the back page of the Times today about it. Davies was sacked because he kept complaining about the lack of investent and its seems mcclaren will go the same way. It says that in the current transfer window nine players have left while two came in for a total of £"m.They also put in a bid for max gradel - half of what leeds valued him. I actually rate mclaren very highly as a coach, but clearly his management skills leave something to be desired.

Another tough one after Millwall - who I thought were by far the best side we have played so far. Having seen the highlights of leicester on saturday they look as if they at least have massive potential. The two front players looked frightenly fast at times which could pose us problems. As with most games between two good teams its the midfield where it will be won and at times on staurday we got caught a couple of times. A draw will be an excellent result, but the way we are playing we could steal a winner. Can't make it to Leicester unfortunately - first game I've missed this season - hope thats not an omen
-
Ah that explains it - I thought I was getting special treatment
-
Should do - its on my agenda. I guess you are at home then? Short bus ride for you? See you there hopefully. Was at Barnsley - missed ipswich (work) but will be at Leicester as well

Is that your new company car Eric?

Five substitutes from seven substitutes: potentially a hindrance?
dellboypete replied to Tac-tics's topic in The Saints
This was decided at the Football League meeting last month (as also mentioned on here somewhere else). The majority of Championship clubs wanted to retain the 7 subs but were out voted by the league 1 & 2 clubs. In hindsight the recommendation should have been, for example, 7 in the championship and 5 in the other two which would probably have been accepted. I can understand the majority of Lge 1 & 2 clubs (+ p**py) wanting 5 subs as some of them are really stretched, but themajority of Championship clubs are really trying to aspire to being Premier Div 2. -
After you have succussfully (???) done a few home brew kits you ought to try making your own using "proper" ingredients. I used to brew my own using real hops, malt etc and by using different types and amounts its incredible how you can vary the colour, strength, taste etc. I gave up when we moved abroad years ago and have been thinking about starting again.

Was there a (just) back from the match thread for Barnsley?
dellboypete replied to The9's topic in The Saints
Anyone mention the Barnsley programme? Highlight for me was the square bar code - scanned it after 2.30pm and it had the official team sheets. I could always look in the programme for who the oppo players are but I found this really good. Excellent day out - cracking pub/beer, outstanding display from saints, excellent away support as usual. Cracking result Interesting train journey back - was staying at the in-laws near Ashbourne (derbyshire) over the weekend which is unbelieveably handy for all the midlands and northern away games. On the train from Sheffield to Derby I was in a carriage with a couple with a couple of saints fans, a couple of Brentford fans and also some Sheffield utd fans (going home to derby). Then a pile of stevenage fans (3) got on at Chesterfield. I got off at Derby to get the train to Uttoxeter where I met a Reading fan back from Leicester (who lived in uttoxeter). All in all a great day out!! -
I'm a lot older thanI look (or is it the other way round) - how you doing pete?
