very flattering! But there is a good chance I'm as old if not older than you!

I've already forgotten the so-called animosity between us. They are just a nice little Lge 1 club down the road - it's very unlikely we'll be playing them again in the league any time soon. So good luck to them and RD

there was an advert in last nights evening standard (tucked away between the riot reports) for tickets for their 1st game against bolton on saturday - Adult tickets starting at £40 - can't imagine anyone but die hard qpr fans will cough that up to see bolton And they still can't afford puncheon

Mine too (well - within 1km) - but I'll be on way back from a weekend in Barnsley (Ok I'm going to the Barnsley game, but staying at in-laws in Derbyshire) -
PURE GENIUS and I still wear the T shirt - even though it's getting a bit tatty round the edges

I had forgotten that the multiball was no more this season. Saints have used it really well at home over the last couple of seasons, but the cheating likes of Reading and Brighton have put paid to it. What came out of Saturdays game (for me anyway) was the amount of time that can be wasted, especially once you get in front. After we went 1-0 up KD seemed to spend an eternity on goal kicks and a few times he leisurely wandered almost to the half-way line to take free kicks. Under pressure? Just hoof the ball into row z and wait for two minutes before the ball finds its way back onto the pitch giving thedefence a breather and time to regroup. It worked in favour at home on Saturday, but I will be mightily peed off when it works against us away from home.

picked up a free copy of Sport mag this morning - they have us down for 6th - which I'll happily take http://www.sport-magazine.co.uk/ round about page 32

Earlsfield Station 8.30am this morning - Saints fan in his Red Slash Shirt on platform. Presumably couldn't get on the train I was on cos it was like a tin of sardines (and that was just the smell)

When I lived in Dubai I met some strange bloke now called Philipine Saint!!! Some other strange arabian called Eic there too!!

Maiden on at the O2 Friday night - I'll be there, just a pity it clashes with the Great British Beer Festival. But I get to go to that tonight and tomorrow to make up for it - plus Leeds on Saturday - what a great four days!!

It's OK but.. I'd prefer a proper collar and it's back to stripes - although I got very fond of the sash

I'm usually up by 6am - usually on a train by 6.30 to 7 (and pretty full at that time of the morning) - the usually means that sometimes I can't be bothered or don't have to get up that early. But what really surprises me is how many people are up really really early. I occassionally have to get to LHR, LGW etc really early (for me) which means getting onto the M25 before 5am and it never fails to astonish me how much traffic there is at that time of morning

Not getting a ST and going on holiday next week - getting a bit anxious. I log onto to the on-line ticket sales regularly but none of the 'proper' matches are on there yet? Anybody know anything?

I particularly like the "Fun & Games" links...especially to the New York Times Crossword (subscription only)!"!!

Early predictions for next season?

After six games last season we were 22nd out of 24 so confirms your "not foolproof" method!! This division is going to be tough at the top and I tend to agree with most on here. However, I really think that one of the great advantages we have this season is that we are not "everyone's" favourites to go up as we were last year. All the talk is of West Ham, Leeds, Leicester etc. But I reckon there are 8 to 10 teams in with a shout and we will be up there among them. I think we have a really good chance of making the playoffs at the very least. On "current" form I'll go for West Ham Leeds --------- Ipswich Leicester SAINTS Birmingham -------------- Cardiff Brighton Middlesbro Blimey, when you look through the Championship teams there are a lot of half decent sides who could be in with a shout. It's going to be a close run thing this season - and I'm really looking forward to it -

I can't believe that **** was in charge for that long. That period was (for me) the darkest and and most depressing of my 45 years watching saints. (That is until that even bigger **** lowe brought in that outstandingly untalented manager poortvliet which really was the the end of saints as I knew them)

Thanks for thelink - some good stats there. One surprise for me was that we attracted only 5 of the highest home gates this this season (still more than any one else in Lge 1). But compare that to Leeds in the NPC who attracted 14 of the highest crowds. Currently we would be 7th highest average in the NPC (actually I'm quite impressed with the size of crowds in the top half of the NPC), but I reckon if weget off to a good start we'll be averaging around 26 to 27k - or even more if we are in the top 6 from the off - which would put us on a par with Leeds (27k)

I worked in Trondheim for a year and experienced their National Day - it was Trondheim 900th anniversary and the King and his family came up and did a walk around the city centre. There was no obvious security and they just wandered around chatting to people as if it was just normal day. The only other normal thing was that it was a public holiday so everyone got plastered.

Ha ha! 300yds from me! It's pretty good but the Ashtead Balti House (100yds in the other direction) is much better. The Balti House had a makeover a couple of years ago and had brand new plates etc made - unfortunately the name is spelt wrongly on every piece!

The Liebherr family should go into real estate (if not already), buy up the whole of the Itchen water front, get rid of the sand, gravel & cement merchants and build an up market Marina, Shopping, Leisure and appartment complex.
