  1. I cannot recall a more scathing criticism of a club ever in my 60+ years of following the game. A truly disgraceful situation that has to be met head on NOW by Kruger et al .
  2. On what I've seen so far he'd struggle in the Championship. Sums up the club for me at the moment.
  3. Senior Management for - failing to adequately replace Pelle, Mane, Font & van Dyke. - sacking Claude Puel before a suitable replacement was lined up - awarding long contracts so called key players that rapidly became the opposite - and generally behaving in a manner bereft of any vision or ambition
  4. The fact is we have been struggling to score all season regardless of who plays. In one sense I can understand Pellegrino wanting to play it safe for 60 minutes and then moving to a more attacking formation when the opposition are tiring but that's not really working either. To my mind it's the player recruitment process that's to blame. It did for Puel last season and it will do likewise for Pellegrino in the summer.
  5. Complacency.
  6. Sadly typical of many "success" stories where the leadership is eventually brought down by an unwarranted belief in their own infallibility.
  7. Not necessarily. Both MP and CP are/were probably the wrong personality types for the job. The black box parameters need a tweak or two.
  8. Too many posters on here running their own misguided agendas and seeking confirmation bias. MP inherited an unbalanced squad that is short of goal scoring ability and sacking him will have no effect if this is not rectified in January. Not a bad performance today and Saints would would have been comfortable winners if Austin's shot from Redmond's excellent run had gone in.
  9. At the risk of oversimplification the game is essentially about goals and since Mane and Pelle left they have been fairly rare events. So I'm laying the blame largely with the recruitment side of the business.
  10. Lovren https://www.theguardian.com/football/2017/oct/02/dejan-lovren-liverpool-five-pills-painkillers-risks-daniel-agger
  11. Difficult one this. The heart says stand firm but the head must must take the decision in the best interests of the business even if that means he is sold this window.
  12. I think my morning round earned around 10 shillings at the time so I still had plenty of change from a bus jpurney from Lyndhurst and a 1 shilling entry at the boys turnstile. Happy days.
  13. It's just part of the game played by a stepping-stone club to ensure maximum value is achieved when the player moves on. The club knows it. The player knows it.
  14. Indeed.
  15. Meant to say I know where you are coming from but at one level we are all customers being asked to pay an hisrotirically high price for the promise of jam tomorrow.
  16. I have him as the best ever Saints player.
  17. Good grief. He's entitled to move on for a pay rise like anyone else. Loyalty is just for the fans.
  18. No, you are not alone and, in my opinion, would have made all the difference and given Gabbiadini a very deserved MoM award.
  19. Call it lack of pace or slow reactions, the net effect is the same and it cost us the first goal yesterday. He'll have to be smarter and adapt fast if he is to survive at this level,
  20. Look short of a yard of pace to me which will find him out in the Premiership.
  21. Saw that game. Moore & Co. sauntered through the match as if still hungover!
  22. RIP Graham. Too soon by far.

  24. Club servant? They're all mercenaries these days and we pay their wages directly or indirectly.
