Actual positive news....gulp. He's a top player with a first class attitude. He's was one of the few who seemed to care towards the end of the Palace game. No point him playing 6 lots of 10 minutes for Chelsea in the next six months (if he's lucky!). Much better to get 20 odd games of nerve jangling relegation scrap under his belt......the boy Cork is obviously a masochist.

.............Davis............... James Pearce Perry Skacel .......Morgan.... Cork....... ............Euell................ Lallana..............Surman....... .............BWP................ Euell has to play, BWP up front,Goldmember to sub. Much more solid.....
-
Cork's still 19 and an England Under 21 international who should get better so I would say opening bids at £1.5 million. First on the list after takeover perhaps (....by which time he'll be 34.......)
-
..............Davies............... James - Pearce- Perry - Skacel .........Morgan....Cork................ Lallana........Euell.............Surman ..............McGoldfinger.......... JVP......let it be so.........

management should be working long and hard on Cork. Manicenne has just had his loan extended at Wolves until end of season by Chelsea Cloud on horizon is Brendon Rodgersappointment at Watford, Cork was his captain in the Chelsea's youth and reserve teams. Cheap deal get it done and quick!!! Pearce would be great too but having seen Bikey play (:smt069:vom:)at Reading I cant imagine they will extend his loan.
-
so be it........
-
Jan -good, honest bloke doing a good, honest job... in very difficult circumstances.
-
Agree you can switch Cork in and out of the CB role depending on the attacking threat. Against clever, speedy and smallish strikers (eg Doyle, Phillips)-Cork has proved he is very very good. Against big bruisers (Burgess...) -Pearce. Perry jumps like he's 6 ft 4 and 23 though (not 5 8 and 46 !)and was superb on Saturday. High class problem for once...... Weakest link is James in the analysis. So Cork once again will IMHO get moved but will I am sure perform. A very good young pro. 3 nil Saints, at least. I can sense it.....

Cork is at least 6 0, possibly 6 1. I have stood next to him. I think that may be old info.

Extract from Annual Report with emphasis added: "Going concern The Directors have prepared cash flow forecasts for the period to 30 November 2009 which include the sales of various assets, further cost reductions and deferrals, and rely on the support of the bank and loan note holder. The Group currently manages its working capital through a bank overdraft facility and in addition has issued long term loan notes to finance the development and construction of the St Mary's Stadium. Whilst the Group presently has an overdraft facility, for £4.5m, the Board remain in negotiations with Barclays Bank, who are seeking a progressive reduction in their position, and the loan note holder. These negotiations involve the Group having to achieve further significant asset sales in 2009, which the Board are confident they can achieve, but there can be no certainty at this time. Furthermore the Group are seeking to reschedule the payment of certain current liabilities, and the Board are confident that these will be successfully negotiated. In the event that the Group do not comply with the terms of the new overdraft facility being discussed and the agreement still to be reached with the loan note holder such that the facilities would be withdrawn, alternative financing would need to be found for the Group to continue as a going concern. The Directors would then consider seeking additional opportunities for finance from internal sources. The Board continues to explore avenues for external funding. Based on the above, the Board consider it appropriate to prepare the accounts on a going concern basis. The above matters indicate the existence of a material uncertainty which may cast material doubt over the Group's ability to continue as a going concern. The accounts do not include any adjustments that would result if the Group is unable to continue as a going concern. The auditors have reported on those accounts; their report was unqualified and did not contain statements under Section 237 (2) or (3) of the Companies Act 1985. However, it did contain an emphasis of matter paragraph which drew attention to the material uncertainties surrounding the going concern assumptions as set out above." Interestingly, no going concern qualification in the auditors' report just an emphasis of matter paragraph (certainly much the lesser of two evils). On my understanding of accounts this means that the auditors believe there is a plausible way out of this mess and they certainly wouldn't hold back with a listed company if they thought otherwise given the risk of liability the auditors themselves face. Also, the Chairman's statement is pretty blunt in allocating the blame. We seem to have been following the Peter Ridsdale mantra of hope based accounting and gambled heavily on promotion last year. Top job (not) and by the looks of it not Lowe's fault....cat, pigeons.... let the fur and feathers fly!

ok not quite grasped the Morgan situation. May have to be Surman or Lallana then unless we can get 5 mill for Morgan from a desperate Frenchman at Arsenal...
-
Morgan for 3 million, wheel and deal with the others (John, Saga et al)to get another 1 million. Hopefully enough to keep the bank quiet. Keep Surman and Lallana. Must get Pearce and Cork on loan untill end of season. This is vital and also cheap (!) Cork can fill Morgan's shoes. Worryingly Bikey was terrible on Saturday (turning circle of the QE2 !!)so Reading may want Pearce back. Also Cork may get a better loan offer ....lower premiership or may also be bought. I also noticed Chelsea's reserve team coach got the Watford job which also may not be helpful to our cause as Cork was his captain for a year or so. Management needs to work on these two as I see their loan extensions as vital to the process of staying up. Cork was going nuts after the game on Saturday, so he's certainly enjoying it. There is always hope!

Cork is best at CM as in the Norwich and Doncaster games, and for that matter last night's U-21 game.I'd like to see him team up with Morgan in CM as I think that would be our best pairing. That said we are then short at RB and on Saturday in this case CB. I think there is a case for Cork at CB (with Perry)on Saturday as Reading are quick and clever rather than big up front. We are missing Pearce and Lancashire's timing of a tackle and distribution isn't great. We should however be appreciative of the fact that Cork has played here, there and everywhere without a grumble (a lot to ask of a 19 year old) .....a good pro wth an old head on his young body methinks. We should be battering down Chelsea's door to extend his loan period to the end of the year as he papers over a lot of cracks....

Quite amusing with the benefit of hindsight! I think we will be hit by a meteorite at the Bristol game......

http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/bolton-wanderers/2008/11/03/bolton-want-chelsea-youngster-jack-cork-115875-20865581/ That would be a kick in the nuts! It would be like losing three players as he covers so many positions well. Mind you, the Daily Mirror...........................................

"Get Rupert to Number One" Is that the xmas no.1? Is he releasing an xmas based sing-a-long a tune. If so what's it called and what is the band name?
-
Perhaps I should have said taking into account likely availability i.e Perry and Lallana out.

My shout is: ......................Davies........................... James.......Lancashire....Pearce......Skacel.. ............Cork...........Morgan.................... Thomson..........Euell...............Surman... ....................DMG...............................

Southampton will be without midfielder Adam Lallana (ankle) while Andrew Surman faces a late fitness test. There is also a sickness bug sweeping the Saints camp, with Chris Perry, Joseph Mills and Tomas Pekhart all suffering with illness. Loan signing Alex Pearce is likely to start on the bench. .....judging by Tuesday's cameo I think Pekhart may have a middle ear infection which impacts on his ability to jump, run and pass. I think Alex Pearce is more likely to start looking at this......is Lancashire able to play?
-
West Brom played good football and got out of this division and this has to be 200% better than last year's Saitns team. Tuesday night's football was sublime at times and we made Cov look pedestrain. We were unlucky and deserved more. Once we get the new bloke/a fit Svensson in at CB the defence will improve a hell of a lot. Then its just the small question of scoring goals. I think JP is doing a very good job with little or no resources. He deserves our support as do the team. Grumpy stay away fairweather fans should go and buy Chelsea TV and shut the **** up. .....IMHO.
-
Isn't that the conservative party?
-
we need a big lump, is he a big lump? I would also agree that this looks like the first part of the Surman deal.....
-
what a lot of drivel. The guy is doing a pretty good job with scant resources. Any manager would have difficulties with such a youthful side. He can only play the cards he is dealt. As it was they played very well last night against an experienced Coventry side .......and they will improve.
