  1. Hammond is too slow to pass the ball and doesn't suit our style. The change when Cork came on was striking.
  2. Chaplow hasn't the positional discipline for a central role and his first touch can sometimes let him down, although highly useful on the right where mistakes are not so heavily punished. ...IMHO Cork/Morgan as young (22) and developing talents could blossom into one of the best pairings in England if we can keep hold of them both.
  3. All I can say having read these posts is thank god it's NA who picks the team as the playstation generation on this forum appear to want instant gratification at all times. Cork and Morgan haven't lost a game when paried together in the middle this year (possibly 2011 as well if anyone has the patience to check). The whole team looked nervous as hell at Leeds and there were missed placed passes everywhere. Everyone needs to keep calm and carry on......
  4. Cork for me.......does the hard graft of closing down, winning tackles, filling in gaps and moves the ball quickly to create space to make everyone else shine. Unglamorous but essential.
  5. He scored a cracking goal when coming on for 45 minutes last week. Earned a penalty and countless free kicks for the team yesterday. He looks to have very sharp reactions and is pretty quick and makes clever runs. I think he has showed plenty of promise. Given that he has come to the UK with little English and to an alien culture both in football terms and generally I think he is doing very well. Not sure how much more we could ask of him. He has my support.
  6. Take a look at Jack Cork’s career progression and loan experiences. The best thing these young lads can do is to get out and get experience playing in front of crowds in games that matter with experienced professionals. Much better than hanging around in the reserves/development squad playing once every couple of weeks against players their own age. Good for him for having the nuts to do this and I am glad he is doing well.
  7. Chaplow is like a naughty Labrador puppy. He's everywhere and into everything. First touch lets him down at times but you cannot fault his enthusiasm and luckily Morgan and Cork are intelligent footballers and fill in where necessary.
  8. I would ask Maicon (once the world's best left back.....) whether or not he thinks Bale is world class....of course he is!
  9. Wham rap?
  10. Apparently drinks are free.........
  11. Martin is a young lad learning his trade and he has done well generally. He will develop quickly but Jos for Saturday. I also hope NA has the guts to put Billy Sharp into the team. Best 11 for Saturday and Tuesday.
  12. We have had a lean spell as we have tried to work out how to replace Chaplow on the right. We now have Chaplow back and Punch so that problem is solved. Plus Lallana is back to form and RL has served his three match ban. Onwards and upwards.......Southampton 3 Burnley 0, West Ham 1 Southampton 2 etc, etc. Let normal service resume.
  13. Piri Piri?
  14. Neither played last night and the lack of Cork's defensive abilities cost us. We were too attacking. Cork is a grafter and provides the ball for others to play. Morgan is a bit hit and miss for me. Out of interest who would be your two CM's without these two?
  15. What about us zeta males with ugly wives at the game?
  16. Oh Frankie, Frankie Frankie, Frankie,Frankie Porteous .....but only if scores a goal!
  17. Cork is the most consistent of the three in his best position (i.e holding mid, not right wing or right back) he tracks back, closes down space, wins tackles and rarely gives the ball away. Morgan has flashes of genius but can quite easily cock up a 5 yard pass leaving the defence exposed. Hammond is the most limited but has a lot of a heart and is tougher in the challenge than Morgan. Horses for courses though and against a hard working Cardiff midfield tonight I would start with Puncheon Cork Hammond and Lallana with Morgan for Hammond after 60 minutes. I have heard Cardiff fans say they have the best midfield in the league.... lets see tonight........
  18. Morgan & Chaplow in the middle....gulp....paper thin defensively ....better to let Chaplow run around out wide where we dont need the discipline of holding our shape as much. Morgan needs a grafter along side him i.e Cork. Chaplow on the right.
  19. Brighton at home please. Revenge is a dish best served with chips and peas and a big mug of tea...........
  20. We have had a few injuries and lost a few games and that happens to all teams. I haven't wet my knickers just yet because I know we have the players to get promotion. I believe that with all the players fit (i.e those who got us to the top of the table) we will get back to the top of the table. I am intrigued by Lee's arrvial and I am glad that Puncheon has dropped his baseball bat and is back on the bus.......we just need a spark to reignite the season and I have a feeling one or both of these two may well just give us that. The key to the season is a bit of luck with injuries and not who we bring in next....we are already good enough!
  21. You should try being rich, successful and good looking....its an absolute nightmare.
  22. Cork will be on the right
  23. Tough game without Lambert. Hopefully they have been working with Guly on playing with his back to goal. He needs to hold the ball up, no flicks today. I would take a draw now.
  24. With the infrastructure and fan base Rangers and Celtic have they would soon be top half of the premiership....hypothetcially speaking. They would probably need to get an entirely new squad to achieve that so it would probably take a few years though and the first year would be particularly hard. Their current squads (Hooper aside ....!) are more mid championship standard.
