Seriously? The first 60% of the season was pretty dire. Check out the postmatch threads against Norwich and Bournemouth and the clear impression is that we were looking down, not up. We were excellent towards the end and crept into sixth (CL football was never realistic) thanks in no small part to Liverpool and West Ham bottling it. But it was a very schizophrenic season. I'd even say that the season was a harbinger for things to come as it showed how reliant we were on matchwinners like Mané. Take him out and he did suffer a midseason loss of form and we were toothless and bang average, ultimately not too dissimilar to how we were under Puel and Pellegrino.
