I'm sat in mcdonalds on the a20 and 4 lads wearing immaculate, matching training gear have just started tucking into some grub. I think we'll be ok! I'll find out who they are later, one is totally bald with a huge nose, another is going grey and has tats on his arms.

http://www.taxinnovations.com Highly recommended.

yes, but you miss the point. you cheated because you took on players that you couldn't afford, ie couldn't physically pay the tax on their wages. we do pay the tax, and the wages. we aren't cheating because we haven't failed to pay anybody. for what it's worth i respect you for trying to come on here and stick up for your club, it's just a shame you let emotion cloud logic. don't you think?

i've noticed the blue few talking about an interview given by (their) RL on The Quay. Anybody know where I can find it?

not being personal, but that doesn't really work for a football club. not settling for second best is fine in your own life, it pushes you to improve yourself, but if you can't directly change or affect a situation, not settling for second best with a team you support is pretty futile. you don't speak to the players, so getting angry with a manager's performance will do nothing to improve our standing. surely as a successful person you must see the difference? football is a game, as someone who has enjoyed success in their life it must ultimately fall pretty low on your list of priorities, because it doesn't really make much difference to the world.

totally agree, some of their arguments are laughable.

Possibly one of the funniest posts I've ever read! I think you should maybe have another read of your Descartes, perhaps something got lost in translation?

Echo dispute reaches Express
capitalsaint replied to Third Division South Days's topic in The Saints
I just don't understand the argument that the info was already in the public domain. The Echo could quite easily have just said 'in tomorrow's edition, exclusive information about Southampton's new training development' etc, showing that they were aware of the story and will give its readers a fat load of juicy information the next day. Then they'd have had exclusive quotes from NC and all would have been well. Just because the info was in the public domain doesn't mean they had to print it that second, plenty of media organizations ration the release of information, irrespective of their rivals. Just look at SSN! I don't see how the Echo would have been disadvantaged as we'd have still bought it in order to get all the inside info about the project, whether it had a pathetic 50 words in a red-top or not. -
"I'm really worried that everything seems to be going well at the club and that the owners are doing things that the fans want blah blah etc..."

+1. A dream scenario IMO.

to be fair, holmes wasn't sharp enough and did manage to put in some crosses, but didn't make enough runs down the wing for harding to put it along the line, as he wanted to do. Antonio was incredible when he came on, he had a lot of hunger and if he'd been brought on earlier would undoubtedly have made a bigger contribution than he did. I'm not Anti-Pardew, but I think he should've made the subs at 60 mins at the latest, we had run out of ideas and needed some pace on the flanks. I was at the game, sadly my first this season, and agree with what alot are saying.

i'm not suggesting you are one of them, but there are plenty on here who judge mr lowe's decisions based on his character and previous actions. despite some of the good he may have done, he'll always be remembered for the bad. i know this isn't a debate about him, but it's a saints-related example of how we all do judge an action on more than its individual merit. likewise, surely it's a no-brainer that a football club chairman will have more of a vested interest in the success of the football club than the editor of a paper?
-
you beat me to it! Great minds and all that...
-
Then surely it comes down to the character and previous actions of the two parties in question? On the one hand, we have a man who encouraged his boss to buy the club, installed a fantastic manager and sanctioned wise investment in the playing staff, now coupled with a mutli-million pound investment in the training facilities and a seemingly solid plan for promotion to the Premier League. On the other, a newspaper editor who's responsibilities lie with getting issues sold (not the well-being of SFC) even if it means referring back to a previously hated chairman in a bid to undermine the club. FWIW I agree with Alpine- too many people on here think that their opinion matters. We don't know what happened, we probably won't ever know the full story, and yet we're all ready to complain and moan and argue. Even P*mpey's fan have more solidarity than us, as sad as it is to say.

Objective Assessment Season to Date?
capitalsaint replied to Kingsbridge Saint's topic in The Saints
As i said in a previous post (of which I've had very few) EVERYONE should watch the Barcelona documentary by Storyville. It took them half a season (with plenty of it stuck outside the champions league spots) to actually bring everything together. The fans were calling for Rijkaard to be sacked, the finances were in a mess, etc. etc. I suppose the point I'm making is that even the great Barca took time to re-establish themselves over that season, we've got the right people in place, it will still take time for things to click. -
I personally think that every fan should watch the documentary about laporta taking over at barcelona. The first half of their season was terrible, by their standards, and there are many similarities to our situation (ie new owners, manager, and trying to fix a system that has long been infected). If i wasn't a poor student i'd start a new thread about it.
