Agreed more or less, striker vital, winger second, GK/CB if we are really going for it -

This, a top mobile front man would also get the best out of Ramirez and the wide men IMO, its one thing having the ball in that position but when you look up and there is nobody around you then you are in a pickle. More options wide, I still think we need pace, I stated earlier, with the potential signing of Banega that we may look to play more compact with essentially 2 holding midfielders, 3 advanced a striker and the width coming from the fullbacks. Barca and sometimes City play this way but both have other options if required (J Rod is the quickest there currently) CB I agree, but isnt as pressing as the other positions. All fit and firing and with atleast 2 signings (wide & striker) we will be there or there abouts. I know Ill be slated for this but Lambert isnt the man to play up top in a top 10 team, maybe behind a front man. I reckon MP wants a fluid team built around essentially an attacking 4 plus fullbacks and defensive 6 -
Am I the only one who thinks GS is 110_persaint ? Both relentlessly unfunny c£nts

Could J Rod play in the Lampard role?
Smirking_Saint replied to berkshiresaint's topic in The Saints
I wonder if he is going to go more narrow with the width coming from the full backs ? We dont have any traditional wingers apart from De Ridder and so he now has a choice of 3 DMs and potentially a strong front 3 behind a main striker aswell. Interesting, and will certainly help with possession. How very spanish -

Not IMO, has more pace out wide then Punch or Lallana, personally think he is starting to look ok in his inside forward role. One that may be able to play there (ish) would be Lambert but in all reality we havnt anyone to play there. A top form Ramirez may be worth building a team around (which is what Chelsea did for years). -
Normally Id have sympathy but you are a bit of a bellend glas.... Sorry 110_persaint

We have just had a fee agreed for a player we have been previously linked with playing in La Liga. Banega ?!

If we are willing to chuck around 20m for what is IMO a statement of intent Im not entirely sure he is going to quibble over 3-4m

I get what your saying, and I anticipated the Santon analogy, which is why I said its different for a player who has played the position regularly. I think you know what Im saying though. My point is if the situation arises itll be silly to ignore it.

I dont know what i did last summer - Bearsy departs from a happy life of Lidl shopping and general musings on a previously popular saints forum to go along to a holiday in Ibiza won in an extreme game of conkers (bearsy is price pikey, he wont pay for holidays) he wakes up a year later, missing his trademark yos, with red eyes and missing a testical. He then needs to spend 5 months retracing his steps, attempting to find his testical and work out why the other one itches. Can he find it in time ? Before the tenner he found in his g string runs out ?

As comfortable that Clyne is there I am still a little dubious of how he will play for extended periods, playing on the opposite flank is often ok now and again but you definately start seeing little errors unless you are 100% happy with both feet and that includes tackling. As per the 3-4 mil, Im not sure that it would be a deal breaker for a top top signing but certainly if the oppurtunity arose I would be happy we went for it, unless of course Targett is closer then we think to the first 11. Priority of course was improving first 11 and I honestly dont think top 10 is achieveable without a more mobile frontman and probably a pacy winger.
