16 Goals in 86 starts? I think even Bradley Wright Philips or DMG could hit the net alot more than that. He might have pace but by all accounts is apparently a bit of a trouble maker.

Who is Fortune?
-
Guess you didn't see him against Millwall? Or Ipswich last year. He's had about 6 first team games and two good ones and 3-4 average to bad ones like most players he's not going to be consistant. He's good when he tries to run the line, and is confident enough on the ball.

Live Deadline Day Transfer Rumours from Daily Echo

McG & Surman were both to keep the club in existance without those sales we could be looking at no club at it was close to being wound up. We got around 400k for Rasiak, which will be spent today. However it's a shame to see this negativity happen all again. Lets try being positive hardly any deals have been done anywhere today, there will be a very later flurry at around 4-5 and thats when you'll see the business being done. 3 Players a striker, a winger and a defender. -
Schneiderlin wants to Leave / Rasiak

He's talented but I don't think he's really motivated to play for us anymore, he's a luxury player who will develop into a very good player, but league one isn't the place for him to do it. If we can get a fee of a million for him and that goes on a winger or second striker then that will be great business. -
What absolute morons some of our fans are. Who could we buy? honestly, we're -7 & bottom of league one. It's not gonna attract big name signings before the season began we were better off. Our start hasn't helped us there. But it's obvious what we need is a RIGHT winger to give the team width and possibly a pacy striker if Saga goes.
-
Colchester (home), Charlton (away) and Yeovil, we need to look to get 6 points in those, and thats doable, certainly if we defend well.
-
It's not the end of the world. Another improved performance. Getting to grips with direct teams just need to start killing off games, thats 9 points missed out on (Millwall, Stockport, Brentford) Pardew will work on that in training. Lloyd James & Hammond bossing the middle what we needed. Improved from set pieces. Mellis sounded not too in the game, still need a wide man. Due a couple of good results. Still unbeaten at home.
-
Huddersfield. Stop being unrealistic with signings like this.
-
I always liked Rasiak despite what people say, yes at times he was lazy but if he had stayed in the side he'd have scored goals, he always had chances and got into the positions. But the 10k a week off the wage bill + 300,000 means we can hopefully get a winger.
-
3-2 Close close game but we get an early lead & win in a see-saw battle of wills.
-
Our fans are a joke at times. Sustainability not money on silly wages. I'd rather get a decent L1 centre back whose younger and hungrier and we don't have to pay 30K a week than to get Sol Cambell eating away. Besides all our players would want wage increases if Sol gives it the "I'm on 30K a week" in training ground banter. The miserableness around this forum is a joke, two defeats and what relegation? ALAN PARDEW OUT! we've got out club back but some things NEVER change.

Mellis isn't bad at all he's playing in a side which play hoofball for starters largely thanks to our defenders and Wotton who don't like to pass the ball on the floor so the game bypasses the midfield. Lambert 2 goals 3 games? Yet he's called static.. he's superb in getting in the right positions to score in the box he might not be pacy but his instincts and finishing are just what we need. Harding has impressed me everytime he's played - Lacks SLIGHTLY in pace and sometimes plays it long but is a GOOD defender good in the tackle has a great cross on him and looks good going forward. Murty, I'm still unsold on him, he's undoubted got quality and a good football brain but against Northampton was too easily skinned and done for pace and doesn't have the stamina to go forward as much, I'd still prefer Lloyd James over him most of the time but a good useful addition for competition for places. It's the fact that 3 games in and 2 poor performances have happened but it's a new team with 5-6 new signings in the team it's going to take time for them to gel. What we need to do is get the basics right and quit the hoofball habit. With a bit of steel at the back and hopefully Paul Wotton not playing his "stand infront of the back 4 shout alot and pass aimlessly" role, we should look a much better side.

Swindon 1 v Saints 0 Post-Match Reaction
saintsmike25 replied to StuRomseySaint's topic in The Saints
Well I'm not gonna say I'm that surprised we only started to play in the last 10 minutes we're not attacking enough "safety first" all the time. Our home games hopefully might turn things round, at least we have a club to support, a couple of wins and then this doom and gloom will be lifted. -

We can easily get back in this one. 2-1 After the break. -
This has to be the biggest load of rubbish on this forum since the takeover. This just isn't going to happen, one bad game and then the whole squad needs changing, Pardews record as it stands is W 1 D 1 L 1 It's about 46 odd games not just the one. Pardew will bring in more players the fact we spent 1 million on Lambert is a huge statement of intent, this season ISN'T about promotion it's about consolidating and building a team. Rather than being in a position where our good players constantly get sold and the team has no rhythm because of players constantly leaving if a GOOD squad takes two seasons to build so be it. Fans like yourself need to be patient, you can't expect a complete squad overhaul it's pretty much a fact the only player thats getting critised at the moment is Paul Wotton, yes we need a centre back as well but hopefully Jaidi will come.. he played in a friendly for Tunisia which should help his work permit application. And do you really think good wingers are easy to find? I think Mills will be a terrific winger and hopefully him and Harding should great a formidable partnership on the left. Yes we need a right winger but if Pardew can mould and work on Lloyd James wing play, he could have one of the best crossers in the team on the right. This team still needs to come together given how many players left and some have been bought in the first 5 games are about gelling. Thankfully with Lambert there are always goals in the side which should help us along the way.
-
He plays for Kettering, you want him in the team on size alone? give me a centre back who can read the game over someone whose just "tall" there's a reason he hasn't been signed and is playing for Kettering.
-
Lets face it, it's going to be tough to begin with. Sometimes you will come up against a team who is better prepared and more 'up for it' which was clearly the case today. People are already saying things like Pardew will be gone! after one defeat. The fact is this season is about consolidating rather than promotion and building a team to challenge next season. If anything this game has taught Pardew that he needs another midfeilder and a centre back because Perry isn't good enough, (or fit enough) to last every game, and the thought of Lancashire as back up is worrying as no offence but he's crap. But on the bright side the new owner isn't afraid to delve into his pocket and we could well see 2-3 more signings. I'm not panicing it's a long season ahead.
-
It seems obvious what the problem is, a team under JP were taught to play quick passing football and short. Now under Pardew we're going direct, we should stick to MIXED passing and not put pressure on ourselves by playing the ball back rather than forwards. Get rid of Wotton he's absolutely useless, replace him with a determined CM who is mobile. Or play Gillet with Spiderman for starters those two have a far better understanding. If we stop playing the long balls and play the ball through midfeild we'll score far more goals and be on the attack more than having to defend for 90 minutes like today.
-
This season isn't about promotion it's about consolidating and building a team for the long term, what Pardew has inherited is a team full of promising youngsters and lacking in expierence, believe it or not he's seen enough promise to think he can do things with some of our players to improve them. We're in talks to plug the most needed holes in our team such as Centre back, with a very expierenced campaigner Jaidi who would be an absolutely fantastic signing at this level. He can't buy a striker until it's in desperate need as Rasiak and Saga are still under contract until they go Pardew isn't going to be signing anyone, what I think is going on is no-one has put a bid in for either (apart from perhaps Swansea) and he's saying "you two play well against Millwall and in our first few games you'll get someone in to buy you". Which we all know could prove to be a good policy, if we can get a motivated Rasiak & Saga for the first 3 games of the season we could have a really promising start, Rasiak is a championship striker and despite his lazyness he's got a knack of being in the right place in the box, and Saga in form can really knock the goals in when he's motivated. And frankly who says we can just buy Rickie Lambert? do you really think he's going to look at this team as it is and think it's in a better position than Bristol Rovers? not that many players are going to want to come to a club with a minus 10 points deficit, you'll find when the January transfer window opens and we're perhaps in lower-midtable they'll be a plethora of signings. Throwing money away on 'quick fixes' has been proved to be a bad idea in the past, we get players who aren't actually very good, and prove to come and go over the course of a season or two. Buying a player isn't also about ability it's about attitude, if they'll fit in with what Pardew wants, by all accounts Pardew wants to promote a sense of togetherness and team spirit and finding the right players for that is vital, at both Reading and West Ham the teams had that, and it can't be build overnight, it takes time a few defeats and lots of time on the training pitch. We should all be grateful we still have a club to support, not create more division within it, whilst our owner might be a billionnaire he's a sensible one who doesn't throw away needless amounts of cash, we're in a position where this club has no debt and can make a profit, we've got the manager, some coaching staff (finally!) a great assistant manager, a staduim which could get 32,000 fans (occasionall through the door) and great training facilities. The team will fall into place but Rome wasn't build in a day, and we all need to be realistic and patient. COYR.

Good for us, shows Pardew what needs to be done and where we need strength in depth, no doubt this week a few signings will be complete.
-
Well Pardew isn't going to sign a striker if he can't get rid of Saga & Rasiak and is in talks to buy one, IF they're sold. Which they haven't been yet. The fact is Pardew has had two weeks to look at the squad and compared to us fans he hasn't seen our side week in week out you need more than a days worth of training to assess his options of what he wants to do with the team. For instance he could see some youngsters as possible strikers such as Jake Thompson, and he wants to see what our strengths and weaknesses are. And as you put it, you chose to buy a season ticket, this isn't the club taking you for a mug, and Southampton FC isn't a 'product'. Pardew is the sort of manager who can get the best out of lesser players as he did at West Ham and Reading. (perhaps not Charlton but he lost the dressing room there) If you read the article about AP playing 'kids' he says he'd rather have many youngsters in the reserves or on loan to develop rather than in the first team if they're not ready, as it stands there's deals being tied up, he's managed to sort out an assistant and another coach, so they'll be more news on monday and the week before the Millwall game, i think he knows what his first XI for that game is, and he's going to make a few signings before and see how they fit in. We played very well against a good SPL side, last time out so we're not in desperate need. What we do need which he is trying to address is strength in depth. Why don't we all give him some time and stop whinging because it's actually pathetic. We have a new owner we shouldn't have all this petty moaning, our job is to get behind the new owner, the new manager and play our part in making this club great again.

Seems my mate was wrong on Stern staying. God i hope Pardew ties up the apparent two deals for the defender and striker. I'll not be as quick to pass on rumours as my source has been 50% with these things.
-
Rasiak & Saga off to Swansea for a combined 1 million (apparently) John staying put. Pardew in talks to sign a striker and defender. I don't know who just this is what I heard from my friend.
