Great men are rarely so humble as he appeared to be. His legacy lives on. He will always be our legend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

anyone know how close Turnbull is to first team squad?

Silver linings and all that then.....means everyone can enjoy your incessant negativity more regularly. It's a great day for Saintsweb. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

IF Lovren wants out then that's disappointing an shows a lack of respect and commitment after only one season. IF he is willing to go on strike to force a move I say it's worth losing money on his purchase to make a statement and put him in the development squad. Striking within a temporary contract is pathetic. I agree with the right to strike but not in this instance, far from it. Reality check Mr Lovren IF this is what you are going to do. If it's Fonte that suggests to me that we won't be buying a better CB (which would would be a negative thing) or Lovren is off (also a negative thing. As great a servant he has been if we are to progress we need better than Fonte. If he is third choice this season then we are in a strong position. The captain needs to be the first on the team sheet, and Lovren fits that bill as does Morgan. Needs to be a CB or CM. Steven Davis clearly has the skills to be the captain but if he plays every game I think we may be struggling in terms of overall quality. Like Fonte a decent player and a great option for some games and squad man. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Lallana completes move to LFC for a fee of around £25m
MarkSFC replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
It's not a question of loyalty it's the way he's gone about it, all but saying that he is better than Saints and/or Saints are not good enough for him. Also saying he had wanted to move during the season only months after stating he would happily be a Saint for life only goes to show what an insincere man he is. He strikes me as someone who 'all of a sudden' had a significant rise in status and profile (Captaincy, England, big performances) and to coin a well worn phrase has 'let it all go to his head'. For someone who literally grew up with the club he has acted poorly and disrespectfully over advancing his career (in his eyes and almost certainly in reality). That is what most people find wrong. He has (intentionally or not, and I suspect the latter as I get the impression he's probably a little thick) let whatever bad blood between him and the club or certain individuals get in the way of rational thinking and respect for the only people who matter; the fans. Loyalty is reserved for fans and fans alone. Players and managers will come and go. How they do it is how they are judged and remembered. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Not the time to judge. 31st August is the first time to do so. My instinct is that he and the owner have very decent plans in place. You don't hire someone like Koeman with one. More importantly someone like Koeman isn't going to sign without knowing the whole situation. It's tough but we need to be patient!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Some people need to look more rationally at situations!!

IF we are selling Lallana (and maybe one or two more) as annoying it is you can't really moan. If we hate a player we are very quick to want them out. It best to sell now and before everyone reports back so the group who are going to be here do not have dissenting mouths in their ears. F*** off and let us get on with improving without you!!! Excellent post.

It's disappointing to lose a talented player but he's not the only one we have. The mere fact that so many players 'appear' to be wanted by other clubs proves we are in a string position. Of those linked, JRod,Lallana, Morgan, Lovren, Clyne, Shaw is the one to sell because the money is far more than needed to replace. The fee is high because of potential, his outstanding contract and his age. You never know, he may be very near his potential!!! Assuming we sign four or five 8-12m players we will be better off for selling. Our academy is strong and will produce many first team players but the reality is we won't ever be top of the ladder and some players will need to move on. The challenge for almost every club is to develop players and keep them long enough to push the team up the status ladder to make it easier to attract players. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Some good points FC. I would expand the question of value and make the point that if we sell Lallana it must be for an amount that the club thinks will make us stronger overall, not just to replace AL. If we sold him and for the money got another Lovren, JRod and Gk then the actual figure is almost irrelevant. The point of sport should be wrapped in learning, progression, a sense of achievement within structures that encourage all and favour none. And then there is professional sport, in particular football!! It will take a very strong so called 'smaller club' to buck the PR juggernaut money making machine that is the Premier League. Maybe we could be that club...the next few months will give us a clue. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The fact is that it has not been said how much the transfer budget is prior to any sales and nor should it be publicised or not will it. What you and most are doing is making a deduction based on everything you read and hear from all your own particular sources, itk if not, coupled with your own understanding and rationale. It's is very possible that the budget is 25-35m, it could equally be double that or anything else. Stop guessing and assuming and get back to being pedantic and stating facts. Far better use of your posts. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

What everyone has missed (I think) is that although I believe Les Red when he states any revenues will go back into the team, I do not recall him stating a timescale for this, ie not necessarily this window!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Any figure I the thirties minimum is excellent business for a kid with huge potential but still a few years away from his peak. Like someone says 20-30% sell on clause and happy days. I'd ask for Phil Jones as well!!

I realise it's not 'in the rules' (except loans) so you make it a condition of sale. We don't want to sell and don't need to. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Or just won't be able to play. We need to get rid of players earlier than that if we really are going to sell them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks for the update but I'm confused by the Koeman and training ground paragraph!!! So it's THE new striker and new strikers!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
