Nigel is building the squad with the dual attributes of ability and attitude underpinning everything. Each player must possess both of these qualities - One will not do! Puncheon has ability but his past attitude is poor - Therefore he is not part of the direction we are headed
-
Will be tough and we must not be over confident ( although Nigel would not allow that anyway).. Will go for a 2-0 victory to us but would not be unhappy with a point.

Top of the league by 5 points after 12 matches ! I think its safe to say my expectations have been exceeded by some margin, and in Nigel Adkins I truly beleive we have a man who will become one of our clubs all time greats !! Ver happy and yes, very beleivable !!

A point I also raised, and perhaps added to that at the time is that the British government and to a large degree, the British people were wholeheartedly sick of football violence over a number of years. The culture at that time was one of containing potential violence between fans and not any particular regard for the matchday enjoyment or indeed the health and safety of football fans in general. It was a mark of the time that sadly culminated in the 1989 Hilsborough tragedy.

Brilliant team performance that saw us home against our big spending rivals - Noble was really their only danger when he came on, at least he tried to play football amongst the scrappers and hoofers.. No doubt that we are a very, very good outfit and are quite capable of winning this division. Congrats to NA and the lads.. Hooiveld and Chaplow MOTM for me, with Jos just edging it for keeping that big lump Carew quiet!

Agree on all counts !

First saw them in January 1980 at Runton pavilion in Norfolk. They were support band of the Pretenders that night - Although I am no great fan of reggae style music ( Food for Thought and One in Ten were the only songs I really liked), I could appreciate after seeing them that night that they had a decent musical career ahead of them...But after todays news what do I know !

Excellent - "The office stuff is now coming together"...... A new stapler perhaps or even better an upgraded shredder !!

And I think this tragedy was a culmination of many years of fan behaviour ! In those times of course ( as many of us from a certain age will testify), Football hooliganism was endemic, fans were segregated in cages, stadium infrastructure was basic ( even at some of the biggest grounds) and crowd control was mainly aimed at keeping rival plans apart and not necessarily pointed towards the Health and Safety standards we see today. The whole "set up" in football grounds and in the wider public mindsets during the 1980's was a million miles away from what we see today, and I guess that when the outcomes of this latest release of papers is complete - We should be mindful that all this happened at a completely different time than now!

Conversely, I was in that stand in 1982 when Norwich City took 10,000+ fans to Hillsborough for a promotion match against Jack Charltons Wednesday ! There were no crush injuries on that day. Of course the Taylor report highlights many aspects at the time, one of the chief recommendations has altered the viewing experience of football fans since that time of course, but on that tragic day in 1989 there was clearly a combination of factors that contributed to those deaths, and fan behaviour was one of them.

Leave it for NA to decide, but FWIW he has done a bloody good job for us so far...

Totally agree with you This is another gift from the gods landing at the feet of the "Phew" ! Unpopular amongst the dwindling Skate fans and underachieving with a fairly expensively assembled squad - Now the Russians don't have to consider sacking him and compensating him, but they have trousered some compensation and can go and get somebody better ( Which given Clotts record will not be too difficult to do). Another lucky break for the caravan club !

I think he can play up top, but on balance I would say probably not in view of his fitness record.
-
Hughton is indeed unlucky and does deserve better - Especially as the Carling Cup winning side is being ripped apart and they are living hand to mouth... A Bluenose work colleague of mine says the feeling around St Andrews is that if they can survive the season in The CC, they will have done very, very well... Does'nt it again sharpen your view that there are good owners and bloody bad owners, and how lucky we are to have attracted the former !
-
Fantastic words - Could'nt have put them better myself.

The media love him because he will always give them a quote ( The media loved Venables too for that reason), but like Venables there are too many "imponderables for embarrassment" for the FA to sit comfortably in the top job..
-
He's so old that he is probably still on a final salary pension scheme !
-
PMSL at him saying he has been to nearly every footy ground in the country with his children.. Should the sentence have finished... "Until we found one that would let us through the door"... !
-
Sorry to bump this one up the rankings again, but for those of you who attended Saturday's match how did this lad play ? Did he look like the £4 million "wonderkid" the Mirror quoted? I see he was substituted on the hour mark...
-
After 10 games we are 2 points clear at the top of the league ! Yep I think I can safely say this has exceeded all my expectations...
-
I agree he was a legend and we all loved him ! Also it's not an opinion but fact ! But what possible purpose does it serve to tweet such a snide remark - It demeans him !
-
RIP indeed - Great man ! Many of his comedies made me weep with laughter at the time - In fairness Allo Allo still does.. Then again I love some of the older "Un PC" comedy...
-
Good post - Plenty of sympathy there for some of your points from me.
-
Good man Danny ! Keep on getting better...

Stelling is indeed a journalist, and that was borne out yesterday evening at the Mayflower where he substituted the word "Freebie" for "Freeloader" when he opened the show! A bit more sensationalist that way and he did try to stir the pot a bit - No doubt in my mind about that at all ! Good for Matt he did'nt bite and he moved on..
