  1. If Cortese wants rid after the Villa game (assuming a defeat) he might as well wait until after the Everton game. As sure as night follows day we get beat up there. That way he might take less abuse from the press for dumping old Nige after a 6th straight defeat.
  2. So frustrating. We look great sometimes and pass it really well. But whenever a team run at us they look like scoring.
  3. Surely every manager in the league will just say 'attack down their left hand side and you'll score'. Truly awful. Just cant see how we'll stay up in our current state.
  4. Of course it looks ****e, it's a football shirt, they all do! If you want a decent shirt get down Jermyn St, SW1.
  5. Haha, they really are vermin. What cheating filth on every possible front.
  6. Now that is a 'positive' I can take from the game.
  7. Obviously willing to give Adkins a fair degree of goodwill given what he has done for us, but he lost us the game. The players he took off were the best for us because they offered us an outlet to take the pressure off. Without them we were trapped in our half, and with players of United's quality and defenders as poor as ours, we were asking for that. Staggering incompetence really.
  8. Nothing 'hypothetical' about not selling out for our first home game back in the prem really, it was there for all to see. If the demand was there we would of. It wasn't, so we didn't. Given that it was Wigan, these kind of games should serve as a benchmark against which to judge the case for expansion. If there were a case we would be selling out such games mid-season. The fact we couldn't do that on opening day after our absence from the division makes the case exceedingly weak.
  9. Just your standard over-priced average English footballer really. 10-12 goals at best.
  10. Time to offer them Guly as part of the deal and wrap this thing up.
  11. If only we'd played like we did when we were behind when we were in the lead! Proud of them though.
  12. Yeah, definitely a shot of a middle aged man with a bit of a belly, face paint and jester hat, 'they're just going to enjoy the day out whatever the result'...etc etc. Perhaps also some reference to how much our entire squad cost relative to one of their players.
  13. Try and get him signed up before he sees us ship six or seven on Sunday and have second thoughts ffs!
  14. Given the start we have, and the lack of quality proven signings, it would hardly be a shock to see him gone by Christmas/New Year. As things stand we're only a couple of injuries away from being spanked out of sight as opposed to just the standard humiliation. He may well pull off a roy of the rovers style season, and of course I hope he does, but it's hard to find three clubs to finish below us in truth.
  15. Good grief. Sometimes there just isn't enough vomit in the world...
  16. Help me out here lads, so now it looks like they're going to get away with it again? I mean if you had to provide odds for a 100% book, what would be your two percentages as things stand today survive/not survive? The prospect of some 'roy of the rovers' style season whereby they storm the league with a bunch of kids, with the press fawning all over them, 'what an incredible story', 'back from the brink' etc etc makes me want to vomit.
  17. Nothing wrong with the ceremony at all. It's the political spin that isn't required. I appreciate it's practically impossible to remove politics from these things completely, but to watch last nights events and then attempt to use it to promote your ideological commitment to a particular model of health care provision is absurd. But then I do find the notion of defining national identity by reference to such provision utterly bizarre as others have said. I've never had an overwhelming sense of 'Britishness' pour over when driving past a PFI funded hospital. And equally, looking back to a 'golden age' of the NHS is just a classic case of being nostalgic for something that never really existed.
  18. Emergency meeting in Downing Street today I heard. Health policy being radically changed on the basis of children jumping up and down on beds in the middle of a stadium......more to follow.
  19. A bankrupt nation spending millions on holding a great big festival of drug taking, wonderful. And they have to hold it during the school holidays so all the flight prices and hotels abroad are sky high meaning you're trapped. Can't wait for the extra 2 hrs travel time to work this weekend to make way for some random 'sport'.
  20. That was a great bit of business by us, we got Beattie as part of the deal as well if I remember right. Confident Henderson at Liverpool will turn out awful value at £20m!!
  21. I wonder who's owed more dosh, Kanu by pompey or HMRC by saggy chops...
  22. I wonder how much it would be to have a plane fly over Fratton on the big day with a little farewell message from us trailing behind? Worth looking into to considering all the media that will be down there reporting. Would be a final and painful nail in their coffin.
  23. Not exactly a bold statement to suggest that a football club should always aim to achieve more. But the reality of the situation as it stands today is that we're 5/4 (a 44.44% chance) to get relegated next season! Clearly a difference of opinion somewhere!
  24. He'll probably find some mugs who want to pay him to sit around injured betting on horses I suppose. Just hope it's not us!
  25. This level of relentless collective self pity has become more depressing than the events themselves. Seem to be really struggling with their recent irrelevance it would appear.
