I think 'what's the point of Danny Fox?' would be a suitably demanding dissertation question for any Oxford undergraduate. Is he simply a defender who cannot defend? A winger with no pace or attacking flair? Nothing to do with today in particular really, but he currently seems to have mastered the art of backing off and little else.

Obviously can't be Adkin's fault when a player does something ridiculous like that. But a cancer of incompetence does seem to have taken hold within the team and has been evident all season, and for that he has to held responsible. On a separate issue, why does the like changing the left back after we concede? He did the same against Brom. Hardly seems the traditional response.

Just as I don't understand the point of the non-scoring striker (Andy Carroll, Rodriguez etc), I fail to grasp the point of the non-defending defender (Fox). 'Oh but that sweet left foot really delivers a killer dead ball'. No, it doesn't. He's just a poor football player.

Problem for Nige is that when you're conceding 3 goals a game you make yourself a 'risk free' sacking really. I mean whats the worst a new guy could do? Concede 4? We're gonna go down either way.

We're conceding an average of 2.88 goals a game. There's no other outcome than relegation with stats like that. Everytime a team runs at us with pace they look like scoring.

With the possible exception of Messi, it's largely irrelevant who you play upfront if you need to score 4 goals to win a match because you're going to lose regardless. Just strange that Adkins would choose to pile even more pressure on himself by not playing him fully. I mean, we're going to be relegated as things stand conceding 3 goals a game so it would seem strange to not utilise a player who is widely considered to be your best in the process.

Stick with Adkins and it looks like we're going to have to score 3 or 4 goals to win a match. Might as well take a chance with someone else and see if we can get that down to 2.
