I seem to recall reading somewhere that survival is even more difficult in the second season following promotion than the first, since the euphoria of the promotion itself and motivation to punch-above-weight as plucky little club promoted has then well-and-truly worn off. For me, survival next season re-instates us to the PL Regulars club, by then stadium expansion (or not) will probably be decided, and then we can set targets to push-on for.

I thought that they only contribute to the refs decision-making on goal-line issues, and have no influence over decision-making on other aspects of the game ?

Much as NC clearly doesnt suffer fools or failure gladly, I still think the buy-out and his stewardship are guided by Swiss/German business ethics and not Anglo-American ones. Which means this is a very long-term project, to be seen through to its conclusion. There is still the less-than-trivial targets of stadium expansion and Champions League football to aspire to.
