Saints 1 Cardiff City 2 post match dissection
Lighthouse replied to Crab Lungs's topic in The Saints
3 years now we've had nothing but awful, awful football. I've been to 6 games this season, Burnley, Watford, Derby, West Ham, Palace and Cardiff. Complete sh*te every single one of them. I don't even have a scrappy 1-0 win against some no-hopers to get excited about. Just checked, I've seen Saints win 3 times since Christmas 2016. So yeah, I struggle to 'get going' if I'm honest. -
Looks like it was the usual for Boufal; they were losing and in need of a goal, so he was the first player they subbed off.

I think if Gao took over a successful tanning salon, he'd immediately sell all the sun beds and sit there with his feet up thinking of all the money he has just made and how much he's going to save on electricity.

That was pretty much it for me, first time I've left before FT since Chelsea were 3-0 up here a few years ago (Was literally 5 seconds away from the exit stairs when Stevens, decided to stick around). With about 3 minutes of normal time left and a goal down, Redmond did a fantastic job of time wasting. A good 2 minutes spent arguing with the ref. Even talked himself into a booking, cracking job there. -

I have no doubt that Gabbi wanted to leave and that he, "doesn't really suit Ralph's style," but frig me, why would you sell him and leave us with the garbage we've got now. If we'd kept him and played him regularly, he'd probably get a mediocre 5 or 6 goals by the end of the season. Instead we're left with Long and Austin doing pitiful impersonations of a professional footballer. -

I've got some stuff in the shed; no torches to burn but I think there's a scythe and a couple of forks if you're up for it? -
I would, in all 100% seriousness, rather have Yoshida up front.

F**k this bunch of gutless no-hopers. Seriously, just throwing every game away in injury time. They can't even hold on to a 1-1 draw at home to f**king Cardiff. Hate to say it but Ralph got it wrong today too, Cardiff at home and our attacking options are Redmond and Long. Fair enough if Armstrong is injured but Redmond is literally the only threat of any kind in that team. Long - That's one of the worst displays I've ever seen from a striker. His runs were badly timed, wrong direction and he looked on a different planet to the rest of the team. Half the time he isn't even running any more and I lost count of the number of times he just fell over under the lightest touch. Stephens - So what's the excuse this time for switching off completely and giving them a goal on a plate in stoppage time? There wasn't a Saints player in the same postcode as that pass. Gao - When we're watching League 1 players on Premier League wages play Championship football next season, I hope the shilling and thrupence we saved on Cedric and Gabbi's wages is worth it I really do. F**k off Saints, honestly. I can't remember the last time I was so angry at a performance/result. It's the same abject sh*te every week and they just never learn, from the owner right down to the players. -
Seem to remember going to Reading under Poortvleit and hearing that one of their youth team players had been killed in a canoe accident. Bitterly cold November game, they were top of the League and I think had a 100% home record. We won 2-1.

The body found in the Channel has been confirmed as being that of Sala. I know he has been assumed dead for a while but you’d have to wonder if Cardiff might the ask to postpone the game. Hopefully not.
-
Dont worry Munster, I got it.
-
Just show a clip of him diving for a low shot, usually takes about 20 minutes.
-
It was in UAE. 7 hours in business class drinking G&T and watching movies is a gruelling encounter but I’d say he’s had enough time to recover.
-
I just moved anything quoting the original post.
-
Don't see why, he's had a day longer since his last game than everyone else.
-
Based on that I'd hope we bring in Bertrand, Yoshi, Hoj and Gallagher for Targett, Stephens, Slattery and Ings. He wont, it'll likely be just Hoj and Long coming in but that's what I'd do.

Alisson - £67m Virgil - £75m Lovren - £20m - About £40m in today's money Henderson - £20m - About £50m in today's money Keita - £59m Sturridge - £12m - About £30m in today's money Mané - £36m - About £50m in today's money Origi - £10m - About £20m in today's money Shaqiri - £14m release fee Lallana - £26m - About £52m in today's money Firmino - £30m - About £50m in today's money Fabinho - £39m Wijnaldum - £25m - About £40m in today's money AOC - £35m - About £40m in today's money Salah - £40m - About £45m in today's money Adjusted for the inflation of the recent TV deals, I make that £671m spent on those players I can be arsed to check. And they have the nerve to say City are buying the title.

I don’t want to see some giant, corporate, global brand buying the Premier League. In fact, there’s only one thing worse I can think of; a giant, corporate, global brand winning the Premier League and thinking they’re special, it’s good for football because of their great history, it’s where they deserve to be and everyone else should be pleased because they’re a ‘proper club’ with ‘proper fans’. Actually two things, Pompey is the other.
-
He isn’t, Targett has looked poor in a lot of games. Was very disappointed in what I saw against West Ham and Palace.
-
The body has been recovered, I'm guessing the identity will probably be revealed tomorrow.

A decent preseason would help get an unfit player fit but there's a difference between being unfit and injury prone; Ings is the latter. All preseason is to him is another chance to get injured. I look forward to being told he has picked up a knock in a friendly against Real Sociedad and will miss the opening game of the season, only for that to mysteriously drag out until late September with little explanation given. Cynical, me?!
-
I'd disagree, that's 2 unproven players and one who is regularly injured. I'd be happy with that but someone stronger in place of Gallagher.
-
So would I but sadly we are.
-
He was good but no Nicholas Bignall.

I'd be astonished if either occupant survived the impact. I'd certainly hope that's the case. From the underwater photo it looks as if the top of the fuselage is severely buckled behind the wings. That could indicated the aircraft hit the water at a relatively straight and level attitude with a high rate of descent, much like AF447. That could indicate a shall, which could have been caused by wing icing. Just a theory based on pretty basic physics.
