  1. I'd say last season was tougher TBH. Other than Posh going on a rampage at the moment, there's really that much quality in the League. Saints are hit and miss, but seem to be matching the top teams for results. Don't forget last season we had Swindon, Millwall, Leeds and Norwich at the top and only the 10 points deduction stopped Saints from being right in the mix. This season we could have Dons or Orient in the playoffs. 'Nuff said.
  2. This is turning into an incredibly irritating afternoon. Was off next weekend, but will be working over the bank holiday weekend.
  3. That's what I thought earlier when people were saying, "another year in League 1". Even if we can't beat Posh, and personally I don't think we will, I'd fancy our chances against any of Orient, Franchise, Udders or Bompey. Anyway, let's not panic yet. There will be plenty more twists in this season. Posh look good at the moment, but you don't go winning 5-0 for 10 games on the trot. They will come unstuck at some point.
  4. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/12735013.stm They must be desperate. I'll bet Almunia is delighted.
  5. I'm not the one saying we struggle when Morgan is missing. I just pointed out that winning 3 out of 3 (or 4) isn't exactly struggling. Conversely at the start of the season, after Pardew left, we went 5 consecutive games without a goal and Schneiderlin played every minute. We weren't all on here saying, "Schneiderlin is crap" because there are other factors at play. In that case, not having a manager.
  6. When you have to take one of your central midfielders off after 4 minutes, it's going to create a problem whoever it is. Especially as Hammond and Chaplow were already on the pitch and we had to bring on Guess to replace him, who is a completely different player. Besides, from what people have said on here we had chances, but didn't finish any of them off at Walsall. Or you can take everything at face value, in which case it's still 3 wins and a defeat. 2.25 points per game without Morgan, compared to 1.73 before Morgan got injured.
  7. When carrying out a statistical analysis, you ignore anomalies.
  8. We've won all 3 games since Morgan got injured, scoring 8 without conceding. Poor form I know, but it could be a lot worse.
  9. Let's just dare to suppose we did get promoted, after an 8-8 draw with Posh at Wembley in the playoff final and a nerve biting 11-10 penalty shoot out win in which every smoker and/or lard arse in Southampton is killed by a massive infarction. So who would you keep next season? My $0.02: 'Keepers: Bart - In Forecast - Out Kelvin - Undecided(getting on a bit, hardly commanding at this level) Defenders: Harding - In Richardson - In Fonte - In Martin - In Mills - In Would be my first choice NPC LB in all honnesty. Jaidi - Out Butters - Undecided Good enough for the top of NPC? Seaborne - Undecided I don't particularly rate him at this level if I'm honnest. Dickson - Undecided Never understood that singing at all. We bought him in, then farmed a much better player out on loan to the League above us. Midfield Lallana - In If he wants to stay AOC - In As above Morgan - In I really don't think Prem teams will be fighting over him, regardless of how highly some posters rate him. Chaplow - In Hammond - In Holmes - Out Just too injured Forte - Undecided Haven't seen all that much of him. Gobern - Undecided Been flirting with the first team for a few years, but really needs to start making an impact. Strikers Lambert - In A decent pre season should get him fit again. Barnard - In Connolly - Out Guly - Undecided He wont be sold having only just signed, but I'm not convinced yet
  10. If we win on Saturday, we will be officially safe from relegation.
  11. Not sure how that tame effort straight at Kelvin in injury time counts as "going close".
  12. Who ate all the couscous Who ate all the couscous etc.
  13. There is no 'value' of a player, there is only what other clubs are willing to spend on a player and what we are willing to sell them for. This can work in different ways. A few examples: Player - Saints asking price - Other teams willing to pay - Result Kelvin £400k £0k He will never be sold Jaidi £100k £0k He will never be sold Harding £500k £0k No value because he is out of contract in summer Chamberlain £5m £10m He is in high demand, so Saints can name their price. Sells for £10m Mills £500k £200k He hands in a transfer request and a compromise of £350k is reached.
  14. Players are only really worth what someone is willing to spend on them. Look at Andy Carroll, a massive panic buy after Torres was sold, they paid 3 times what he's worth. As such I'd say players like Kelvin and Jaidi are worth £0. Not because they're useless, but because nobody is going to spend Money on a 34 year old 'keeper and a 35 year old centre half in League 1.
  15. I'm not sure the dump was particularly lucky, although I did feel much better afterwards.
  16. I've just been cleaning my bathroom. Not sure if this is lucky or not.
  17. TBF, they probably know their sh*t when it comes to a nuclear meltdown.
  18. Maybe it stands for offside? Quite an achievement for a centre half with the manoeuvrability of an aircraft carrier.
  19. It was like playing FIFA on the PS3, when you're taking a FK and accidentally press X instead of O.
  20. Cats in the garden are fairly easy to get rid of. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/5999091/Pet-cat-eaten-by-13ft-python.html
  21. Fonte and Lallana should be in, but that's it. AOC might have a chance, but he is inconsistent and I wouldn't pick him. Lambert, not a chance. Very inconsistent this season and a large chunk of his goals came from 12 yards out. Barnard would be my 1st choice striker at the moment.
  22. I'd forgotten about that. Priceless.
  23. Angry Hamster will f**k you up.
  24. Don't know what people are moaning about, we did exactly what we had to last night. Win comfortably. Yeovil came here with a simple plan. Stick 5 in midfield, stiffle all creativity and hope for a scrappy draw, or at best a Walsall style fluke goal. We managed to break them down and took our chances when they came. You can't really ask for much more that that. Having said that, there were a few sloppy performances. My thought's on the players: Davis - 5 Never really troubled, but feck me he made a meal of trying to put a cross over the bar. Dodgy kicking at times too. A throw in in your own half isn't good. Butters - 6 Never got too adventurous down the right and was barely troubled defensively. Great awareness for the first goal Fonte - 7 By far our best CB. We'd be terrible without him. A couple of panicked clearances. Martin - 7 Did alright considering his chances have been limited. Looked better on the deck than in the air, which was unfortunate as he had a lot of long balls to deal with. Harding - 7 Nothing wrong here, supported Lallana well. AOC - 7 Was a bit quite, but some decent skill in the lead up to his goal and a couple of decent runs. Hammond - 4 Looked like he was running in marmalade most of the time. Didn't really put a shift in. Chaplow - 6 Not his best performance. How the ref booked him for that challenge I'll never know. Lallana - 8 A touch of class Lambert - 5 still looks overweight and a bit lethargic at times. Barnard - 8 Looked switched on and took his chances. A worker and would be my first choice striker. Subs: Gobern - 6 Had a couple of good moments Forte - 6 Didn't think he was that bad, apart from his tribute to BWP with the 1-on-1. Richardson - Wasn't on all that long, but I'd probably start him at RB. He hasn't really had a decent run since his injury and Butters isn't all that.
  25. I get it. I get why this guy hates Britain, I get that he is in a small minority and that most Muslims despise his principles. My point is that we shouldn't be publicising this guy by making a massive deal of it. The only value his actions have is the value we give it. I could burn a poppy, Quran, Bible or whatever in my house right now. Would it matter? No, because nobody is there to see it. People like this should be ignored, then their gestures are powerless. This guy wants to burn a poppy, fine here's a lighter, go nuts. I'll just get on with my life. However by creating a media sh*tstorm about it we're giving this guy the attention and conflict he craves. I know. I just think there are bigger and more tropical fish to fry.
