Yan Valery - Official: Signs for Angers
Baird of the land replied to SuperSAINT's topic in The Saints
Definitely prefer Valery over Cedric. -
Can't understand the injury time. How you can add an additional 4 minutes when 3 and half of the original 4 were played before long went down. Lovely goal by JWP. Think he was slightly at fault for their goal. Not sure why he did the poor headed clearance rather than volleying it out. Overall a very good display apart the panicky last few minutes.

Not a fan of var but it came to our aid today. We started brightlybut have faded badly. Johnson had some nice deliveries from left. Jwp very good again. Elyounessi poor. Ramsay looks ill at ease. Hopefully gallagher and Redmond on soon. -

Is Johnson playing Left back like bbc are saying. -
More amused seeing Watson eviscerating May with pity.

disappointed gallagher isn’t starting. -
Given the manager seems to prefers Valery, I doubt that’s indicative of Cedric playing a big part next season

Agree completely.

Think they should stick with what's working & that's back 5. Ramsay more of less played as a centre back for time in City game, so he could come in if Ralph doesn't think any of the other u23's are ready. Given the Hojberg will be back next game it probably makes sense to keep JWP in, if he's then going to go back to what is on paper his first choice pair. I'd assume Armstrong may be rested again as i know he had a slight ankle issue which was why he was rested for first leg. Think we have to keep redders in the team and hope to take him off after an hour if we are in the lead. Gunn Cedric Stephens Vestergaard Ramsay Targett Slattery JWP Elyounessi Gallagher Redmond Subs: Mccarthy, Vokins, Bednarek, Romeu, AJohnson, Long, Barnes, -
Is klarer injured or is he being considered for midweek cup game?

The goal we conceded was very sloppy. Can’t understand how vardy wasn’t booked. Valery needs to not react to whatever it was the Leicester players were saying to him. Hopefully he’ll have learned from this. Long did well against a very poor mendy. -

hoping gallagher gets a start upfront -
Missed all those chances he's had since potch left.

He hardly looked good when in our team. Went on loan to spanish second division and had his own forster moment. Happy he's flourished under poch but it was completely understanable why he was moved on. https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/571692/Paulo-Gazzaniga-Southampton-mistake-shocker-Rayo-Vallecano-Spain

At least finally there’s some clear out happening, that should have happened in the summer but for Hughes love of a massive squad.
-
Any chance gallagher will be on the bench. 90 minutes of long is far too long.
-
Somewhat a relief that he won’t start away to Leicester. Equally an opportunity for a younger player in the derby game

Wes Hoedt - Loaned to Antwerp: Official
Baird of the land replied to Cabbage_Face's topic in The Saints
Intrigued to know what style hoedt does suit. -
The logic(if there's truth to it) i assume is to generate 10-15 million that Ralph could then spend on a weaker area of the squad.
-
Depends what Mccarthy wants if there's any truth to it. If he would be happy with more money, winning trophies i don't think it would be crazy if Liverpool were interested given Mignolet is terrible and wants out. Equally Arsenal haven't given Cech a new contract so they may want someone else. If he wants to be outright first choice then he's probably looking at championship level as there isn't an obvious opening in the prem.
