Romeu was not our second best player yesterday and Davis played excellently in the deep role against spurs.
-
Thought he was very mediocre.
-
Stephens & Bednarek at centre back pls. Also like to see Davis in for Romeu. Ideally Obafemi is fit with Austin back to being a 20 minute sub man.
-
Brainless. It's pelting down with rain and windy and Vestergaard thinks now's the time for a flick backpass. Need a clearout in the summer regardless of where we are playing. We were slightly unlucky only in the sense that we should have had at least one penalty from the Armstrong/Redmond challenges. Hopefully Obafemi or Gallagher will be fit soon as gabbi looked lost and Austin just isn't mobile. The positives were that Bednarek played well(barring one error trying to control a ball). Stephens came on & did ok, even out ofhis favourite position.
-
His one mistake aside i think Bednarek is doing ok. Valery a least is trying to defend, which is an improvement on cedric recently. Not sure this set up does much more armstrong. We need to get him more central. Positive is that at ht it is 0-0.

Just spotted the cb thing. That’s completely bizarre.
-
Guessing he’s going for aerial ability from his 2 center backs. Glad Valery is starting. Thought Romeu looked so off the pace in his cameo on wed, so hoping that won’t be the case today. Maybe in for his height too. Given how he wants to play really suprised Austin is starting. Also disappointed Davis is completely absent after playing really well we’d.

While i’d Like Lookman loan, the fact he’s starting or coming off the bench for Everton argues against it. -

Doubt we’d want to commit to paying them earlier. It’s all rather moot as I don’t see Liverpool loaning clyne after Gomez just got crocked. -
If we don't play Vestergaard for that reason i'll scream.
-
I'm going to go for positive new manager bounce win. Mccarthy Valery Stephens Vestergaard Bertrand Davis Lemina Hojberg Armstrong Redmond Ings

No i don't think so. Think we've landed a coup in terms of manager. watching tonight's game you could still see elements of real quality in our side that hopefully a decent manager can take and develop, whilst cutting out the schoolboy errors.
-
I thought Stephens was good today. Assume the manager's first job will be to work out whether any of the 5/6 centre backs can be made into a complimentary pairing.
-
To be fair Austin was only marginally offside. Given their first goal came from a corner won after a not spotted offside they can't really complain. Beautiful ball through by Davis. Bizarre game, we played some really nice stuff but also completely shot ourselves in the foot. First job is to find and organise a back 4 that won't make as many individual errors. Stephens was by far the standout of the 4 today. Thought davis was good today in the deeper midfield role but had horrible slice clearance that contributed to the 2nd goal and should have shot when he worked a glorious chance. Romeu looked so off the pace in his five minute cameo. Can see why he's been with u23's. Hitting the woodwork so often is comical. Equally we need to be finishing the rebounds. New manager bounce against cardiff hopefully

Not a bad performance against a very good team so far. Atrocious by yoshida for their goal. Midfield set up has generally worked. Though Cedric seems to think he is a right winger rather than a right back at times. Gabbi needs to be less wasteful when we do get him the ball.
-
Annoying that we handed them a goal. Midfield has actually looked tenacious so far.
-
Rare opportunity for Davis & JWP to impress the new manager in the stands. Assume Romeu has been left out as he's not considered mobile enough. Brave move to switch back to a 4 at the back. Wonder if that suggests a lot of the squad don't like the 5. Curious is it going to a 4-5-1 with JWP out wide?

Is there any one you would rather have got than Ralph?

Very excited. After recent appointments I was expecting little and to get someone so exciting on paper is fantastic. Let’s hope it’s the start of a return to better times. -

Personally given we’ve a very good player in targett I wouldn’t be averse to Bertrand leaving if there was a very good offer on the table. -
If we are going to do any business in January it should be loans.

Hope you are right and we will give them a go. -
Options are very limited. So going to spurs and playing with pace up top seems preferable and that’s taking a gamble with Redmond or elyounessi. Gabbi is hardly a lead the line striker and Austin is a waste of space. Forgot Barnes isn’t eligible. That’ll teach me for not putting Austin on bench to weigh it down. Think Davis gives more mobility than Romeu which is why I plumped for him.

Even someone paying a proportion of Austin’s wages whilst on loan would be an improvement. Wonder if Bertrand or jwp may be moved on if we get offers. Jwp is barely playing whilst targett seems to me at least ready for starting spot.
