McCarthy is one of those players I was reall6 happy we signed as I was impressed by what I saw of him for reading. Was disappointed by his injuries and lack of opportunity. Looked good today. Even the Pogba offside goal he got down to and got a touch, otherwise Pogba may not have felt any need to touch it in. As for Forster, perhaps if he doesn’t regain his place a club like Newcastle(post takeover) may want to have an England international between their sticks.

Rather strange lineup. Mccarthy, happy he's getting a chance. Stephens, why is he at right back again rather than as a 3 man defence. Why is Pied considered so poor he can't play right wing back. Romeu: who was horrendous against Spurs keeps his place Long, makes sense to play him just as it did when he was effective away to man city. until we buy someone else with pace to replace him he's always going to be the option for this sort of game.

Was there ever any explanation as to why we got rid of Sammy Lee who had an extremely strong resume as an assistant & was part of an extremely successful set up. Since then we’ve gone to the useless relegation specialist black and now to a complete rookie in the role.

Happy for Kelvin though i’ve Got to say I find it a baffling move. Surely underage groups are where he should be cutting his teeth as a coach and seniors should have someone with a proven track record of improving players and being part of successful coaching teams.

Liverpool agree world-record £75m deal for Virgil van Dijk

Well we've got good money for him. Can't stand way he's behaved and his attitude. Hope it goes horribly wrong for him at liverpool. Just hope we use the funds wisely and not all at once. The summer is the time to utilise money better, now's the time for some emergency patching. -
Forster Cedric/pied Stephens hoedt yoshi targett Boufal lemina hojberg tadic Long

Gotta assume that’s the final nail in the coffin. A performance akin to arsenal, utd & city games was needed and instead it was an embarrassing hammering.
-
what’s really worrying is how poor we are at holding onto leads. Even wham game which we ended up winning it was after we’d blown a 2 goal lead. The football itself hasn’t been terrible especially of late though. Given the quality I think we have the current points haul is very sub par. The only card he has in his favour is the lack of an obvious candidate out there. As wba have shown just sacking a manager without having a good replacement up your sleeve is dodgy. So i’m Still somewhat on fence. I’ll wait to see what club decide. Just hope if they do sack him it isn’t just to appease the baying mob and they actually have a plan in place.

Forster Cedric Stephens hoed yoshida targett Lemina Romeu hojberg Long gabbi Subs: McCarthy, van dijk, McQueen, Davis, Redmond, hesketh, tadic
-
Crazy by borough imo. Wins, up to 9th in a very competitive league in 1st season & they sack him. Wouldn’t necessarily be opposed to him at saints.
-
Personally thought Redmond was frustrating. Very diligent defensively. His pace caused them all sorts of problems but his final ball was either poor or he chose the wrong option. I personally was very surprised he was the one to come off instead of Tadic who was very sloppy twice before their goal after having a very bright start.
-
At least we are playing much better. Just a frustration that both Bertrand didn't finish the game off with his chance and that we gave them far too much time to put in that cross. Still of opinion we won't do much other than mediocreness as we can't hold onto what we get. Really hope Hojberg stays in the team.
-
Second half much better. Disappointed we didn’t get all 3 points but an away point isn’t horrendous.
-
awful goal to concede. Started from Davis passing back needlessly, then hoed horrible dithering.
-
Forster(I'd still prefer Mccarthy because i don't Forster's desire or coaching team's desire to palm shots away rather than catch) but can't see a change happening Cedric(if injured Stephens) Van Dijk Hoedt Bertand Hojberg Lemina Davis Boufal Austin Tadic
-
Frustrating last minute but a very impressive display otherwise. Not sure about decision to take off Long. Austin was a bit pointless in this sort of game where we were living on scraps and trying to break quickly. Hope they can carry on this form into Bournemouth game. Hope Cedric isn't out long.
-
Should be on the bench at least imo.
-
I'd keep PEH in definitely. If Romeu's going to come in it should be for Davis, who might best be saved for Bournemouth game Please no last thing we should be doing is inviting City on by playing 5 at the back. Actually think the opposite, i'd happily take redmond's pace in for Tadic, who is very ineffective in these sort of away games. Though i'd happily take Mcqueen as another option.

Saints 4 Dugout Pioneers 1 - Post Match

Find it funny that anyone on seeing wba/wham/Everton/palace scrambling around for mediocre managers that they think the grass would be that much greener for saints. Personally i’m Very happy saints have pushed themselves back towards mid table security with this win. Things have hardly been perfect under Pellegrino but given we’ve beaten the bottom teams we should be panicking. Another big game against Bournemouth next weekend. Hopefully confidence from this display will help us. -

Best performance of the season by Saints. Lots of quick passing. Clearly everton are a mess but we needed to put them to the sword and we did so comfortably. Gives the manager some breathing room & takes the silly monkey over lack of goals off team as well somewhat. My MOM was Hojberg, such a different player in the one and a bit games i've seen him in this season than his appearances last season. Deserves a run in the team ahead of romeu who has been average this season. Not Austin's biggest fan usually but if he can do that in the box regularly i'll happily accept the lack of his all round game. After reading all the so called fans at half time on the match thread berating the manager and the team just because Sigurdsson pulled off a worldy of a shot it was lovely to see the team show them up. -
This season the premier league has depressed me. So many poor teams, such a gap between top 6 & uncompetitive rest. Saints just one of that poor pack.
-
McCarthy Cedric yoshi van dijk Bertrand Hojberg Davis Boufal hesketh McQueen Gabbi Time to try couple of youngsters & hopefully McCarthy over sir palms a lot.
-
Still not completely in the out camp, mainly because options being spouted are so terrible such as Fat sam etc. Though if i was told it was Adkins coming back i'd be happier in the out camp. As good as potch was, it still hurts how we ditched him.
-
First goal tadic was terrible. Undid all the work of being organised that we'd put in to nullify them for first 20 minutes by a moment of stupidity. Third goal forster was terrible palming it right onto penalty. Hope that isn't what he is being coached to do. Only relief is that there are so many poor sides in the league. Next week vs everton is going to be huge. Think Pellegrino will hang on till then but if he comes out of that without a positive result & display of some description his days will be numbered.

I'd prefer returning to Long and Gabbi to be honest but playing Long makes complete sense to me especially away.
