Think cork is an absolute amazing player. Really worried if the club think he is somehow surplus to requirements. Fonte's solid & would seem odd to ditch such a loyal servant who played an important role throughout his years here.

Looks like a decent signing by swansea(though you can never tell till see in the flesh).
-
Depends on the length of service a player gives. Lambert 5 years, Mopo 16 months.
-
I'm definitely looking forward to him failing and getting sacked. Hardly like he even tried to take us to the next level, just walked off to a club that is itself outside the big boys.
-
Don't agree, believe the goals and assists he would have got in the next couple of seasons are worth far more. Hardly like he's gone down the leagues because he can't hack it anymore. I don't begrudge him his dream move but just think that Saints are the party that has lost out in the deal.

Torino don't sound serious. Clearly want to reinforce their squad and then back out of spending money to buy him. Part of me still wants to see him adapt to premier league as he clearly has sheds of talent and is young. Don't want to lose Lallana but had wondered if we did might he have more joy for us then.

Definitely don't want Moyes. Don't think he'd be a good fit with us at all.

Will Saints ever be a "bigger fish in the sea"?
Baird of the land replied to Fitzhugh Fella's topic in The Saints
Personally i'd like squad wage caps to be introduced into european football. If set properly they could help address to a degree the hoarding of players by certain clubs. -
Keeping my fingers crossed that the Koeman thing happens. Hopefully June's going to be a great month for Saints unlike May.
-
Can't see Rickie having an England career beyond world cup anyway. Next euro qualification is super easy for England because of the increased number of teams that qualify so any sane england manager will look to bring in younger players during qualification.

Yes there are always going to be bigger fish in the sea, even for the likes of Liverpool(if Madrid come calling). However we don't need to be small fry and right now i'm extremely annoyed at the condescending pity being wafted Saints way as people try and justify why we aren't allowed to try to keep any good players. Whenever Baines was being linked with Man U there wasn't any of that imo. -
Hoping that maybe they'll allow him back into the director's box in future when he comes to watch a game.

England are apparently quite happy to muck up their preps for liverpool's sakes and do medical in Miami( daily mail) After that we'll probably hear they are quite happy to do it in rio. Hodgson's I want everyone focused on England was just bs.

Does anyone still believe we will be competitive?
Baird of the land replied to Frank's cousin's topic in The Saints
Only 3 of them were key players & one of those left in January. -
Don't see how koeman's can be compared to the waste of space that was wotte.
-
Really annoyed England are apparently bending over backwards to try and facilitate Liverpool lallana move and Hodgson is going on record talking up a move. Why can't he just be diplomatic and state that where the players play is none of his concern.
-
Definitely hope that is the case.

And Mayuka. Though none of them really fill me with confidence.

I do admit press attacks have worn me down some. I still can't wait for the World Cup to start especially as it'll put that stuff down to a simmer hopefully. -

We were battling much of that season and it's not if we sold Morgan, Lallana, Lambert and Fonte beforehand. Maybe we can buy really well but history suggests some duds and the pure problems of trying to gel a bunch of players into an effective unit. I'm still at times hopeful we won't lose 4, well at least in my less depressed moments i am. -
Agree, i can see the pure financial logic in Cortese's thinking but was completely against it because of what an important player Rickie was. It was one good thing the new board did imo.

Been following prem league since its inception and also just now had a scan through some of the teams transfer history back to the 90's. Losing 2 is rare(remember thinking Sunderland should be worried by losing 2 key players last summer). The only examples i can see of a club losing more than that is Newcastle(the season they got relegated) and Leeds(the season they got relegated whilst bankrupt). Hardly auspicious examples. Would you care to name an example of one that lost 4 and did well? -
Reed seemed quite strong on the academy front personally when i've heard him interviewed before. Under the new board though his sphere of influence has expanded and i'm not sure that's a good thing. Hopefully a strong coach and a storm weathered Krueger can balance things out in future. ... sudden positivity has overwhelmed me. No doubt i'll refresh my browser and the world will collapse again.

Wondering how you hide the money, i'm guessing its the add ons. I'd assumed they were crazy extras based on Liverpool overachieving in the coming season.
