  1. Just been in a cab with my ex-Ajax-playing friend driving in Amsterdam... Last time I saw him they had just featured the Jan Saints experience in a Dutch documentary His first words to me today were, "Sho...., you now have the shnake in charge..." lol
  2. I think I actually nearly agree with nineteen canteen here. You never know. The gap between top end non-league and championship mediocre is not that great these days (as we will be getting closer to finding out next year btw)
  3. He was awful in his time with us. The end of season "meaningless" period, we were up and down, but I thought his attitude stank. If we lost it was always "their" (the players) fault. He seemed very similar to HR in his "not me" attitude. That Villa away game (first game following season), was one of the worst performances i have ever seen from us (including some this year). I walked away from that thinking we'd had it. Which was confirmed by the Bolton performance a couple of days later. He was not up to it. Agree with DD.
  4. probably worn out.
  5. Silly post. It's a results business. Pearson produced the "keep us up" result. To have done a worst job than the current brigade, Pearson would have had to have us bottom right now, with 14K crowds. Might have happened, but more likely not. Pearson, prior to joining us also impressed under Allerdyce at Bolton and Newcastle. Pearson, is also, undoubtedly a bright and articulate person. If you are not bright you will not hack it as a manager in this day and age. Pearson has not had bucket loads to spend at Leicester. And you tend not to get to the top of any league by luck alone. You also tend not to drift towards the bottom by luck alone. The Leicester team seemed slightly younger than ours (Dickov and Oakley excepted) last time I looked. So what was the gist of your post ? "Pearson was lucky, JP was unlucky, and the Leicester crowd are doing it ?" Results business as somebody once said...
  6. Bit of a flawed argument SOG... What does 75% of "down the pub" or "around the dinner table" conversation have as a basis ? Things that have happened previously - either shared experiences or individual experiences that the other parties to the conversation have had. Sure, you might spend 25% of the time talking about the future, be it how to remove Lowe, how to fix Saints, a new investment strategy, this years holiday...etc, but the bulk of the time you will, in one way or another, be reminiscing and embroidering. You try, next time you are with a group of acquaintances purely talking about the future. The conversation will be like one you have with your hairdresser or dentist..."where are you going on holiday this year....etc." Not generally a barell of laughs....
  7. Mrs Moore is pursuing this currently (she works in the medical field so is well aware). The deterioration has been very rapid over the past couple of years sadly.
  8. Exactly why we are bottom(ish) -> the spine of our team is: Davis erm erm erm Mc erm A competent manager would have addressed at least one of the "erm"s by now A competent chairman might have asked a manager to do the same...
  9. As a non smoker, I am now appalled that all pubs smell of stale food and body odour. It's ok though, as the pub trade will gradually go out of business. Nice legislation.
  10. I'm not sure if I understand the amount of abuse heading AS's way. I have seen every home match (pay as you go), except Norwich. I have seen some good halves of football, some nice touches, and some below-par (in terms of Saints year on year comparison, which is way-below-normal-par) defending If I had to summarise my view of the season, I could pretty much cut and paste any one of AS's posts I could probably have had a good predictive stab after the Stoke friendly, which was a bit of a harbinger....
  11. It's ok, "points are a priority" is the new dutch mantra
  12. The manager lost that for us today. If Perry had started things could not have been as bad as that first 30 minutes. Second half we were spirited and organised. The first half was a shambles. Euell was as effective as anybody until he went (which looked very harsh - they didn't even appeal). Cork was good. Morgan was good. Surman was good. BWP was good Lancashire is the most lost player I have seen in a long while. Within 5 years he will be playing for (or against) Totton. McG is not any kind of answer for us going forward. Does not hold it. Does not do the simple thing. We haven't the time for him to learn "alone" this year. The way the first half was going we could have let in six - against an average looking side. Brum and Reading will be the automatic two. Wolves are not good enough.
  13. Cynically, you might observer that as long as we are outside of the bottom three, we appear to be playing our "cheapest" side... ...no John, no Skacel....etc
  14. Charlton marketing contact
  15. He is off to Charlton shortly, so why be bothered....
  16. And Charlton's next big money signing will be ..... .... Stern John..... .... on loan which is probably more worrying for us than a let down for them
  17. Steve Gibson ? The old guy at Blackburn ? The Ipswich lot ? Ideally, you do want fans involved in running a football club. You should be saying something like, "dumb people or people that don't understand the business should not be involved in running my football club."
  18. thought Mills was one of our best players. No CM first half. Mcgoldrick has not got it Also thought Gillet and BWP did well Surman needs to start in the middle
  19. I don't know how KD is not in the player of the month shake-up...
  20. ..errrr... "sell everything with a pulse" (as spotted by alpine), would more than achieve this...
  21. I would bet money on Davies playing more games than Svensson over the next year. For whatever team he ends up playing for. The OS headline should read "Saints sign occasional player to be paid occassionally, whilst knee disintegrates." Equating Svensson with Davies AT THE CURRENT POINT IN THEIR CAREERS is daft. Davies is promising, very good for CCC, and young. Svensson used to be a good player in the premiership five years ago. This is not knocking what Svensson has done, or how good he was, or how nice a guy he is, but this is where we are. If Lowe is thinking about sanctioning the sale of Davies for 1.5m, then, once again, it highlights how little Lowe knows about the "product" of his company.
  22. Same blond said 17,000 to me an hour ago...
  23. I hope I'm wrong, but I can feel a struggle coming. Against a half trying Stoke we were very poor. Lightweight, wrong options, no forward threat... Let's see what happens tomorrow
  24. Darren Powell is currently being introduced to staff at Charlton...
  25. come on people, you are either good or not. I can run around all day with keeness, but am sh*t. Rasiak, in this league, is class. Part of the manager's job should be in making Raziak and co want to contribute to the cause.
