In other more cynical words - the kit this year is a bit gash and we've undersold.... therefore we'll use this as a golden chance to flog a few more of them
-
Its a very valid point. I think for a long time now away fans get sniffed at. Its easy to go to home matches, far hard for away games.

Looks like a crap Jayrod to me...
-
Best news all week!!!! Get in VVD. Will have a definite impact on Liverpool if he plays. And on us ofc.
-
I don't think there is any point arguing over this, nor in defending Les. If VVD is out for the semi and we don't get to Wembley as a result then Uncle Les has really dropped a clanger. Has anyone considered what happens if Yoshi or Stephens pick up a knock?!?!?! Say first 20min in the semi And the semi is only one aspect of this, we have been very poor of late and have been relying on our defence quite often to get points. Stephens is a good lad, but its a trial by fire for him tomorrow! Here is to hoping we have another Gem coming through. I guess he's in a win win situation himself, everyone will fear the worst, he gets to start a cup final, and he has an opportunity to really make a name for himself - because certainly there will be a lot of eyes on the untested youngster!!
-
Is VVD fit or not. Pulling my damn hair out here!!! Mind you, I still think we'll win whether he's there or not! Liverpool have a complex about saints these days. The ones who left don't like playing us, their fans no they've raped and pillaged us over the years but they are always the favourites... and yet we nearly always give them a game plus a few hidings... We'll need to score for sure, but I think it might take 2 goals - and I think we'll do it. Go Saints!!! Standard disclaimer - if we lose because of a week defence and no VVD then its 100% going on Les' head.
-
Fonte would give his absolute all for saints in his last ever appearance in a cup semi final. He penned the fans a leaving letter and has had 8 incredible and emotional years here. I really can't believe fans think that little of him.

Are you joking mate? We created so many more decent chances from this and put Leicester under loads of pressure. JWP goal is 100% a goal from a cross. The own goal was a cross. Jayrods goal was from a freekick crossed in and headed down. Then there were numerous other chances including the first one of the match that redmond should have scored with. Insane that you can't see how much more potent we were with more numbers forward and more players in and around the box. It put real pressure on Leicester and took pressure off of our defence as the ball was nearly always in front of them. More direct, quicker tempo, and more attacking. More of the same please.
-
Then he is an idiot. Because we should never have sold Fonte without having a replacement. Could all have been done on Thursday. Only a muppet would expect Liverpool to strengthen our team right before a cup semi final against them. There is absolutely no defence for what he has done with Fonte, the timing is horrendous and could very well cot us a cup final. I just hope for all our sakes that our best player and captain is fit!!
-
The big difference is that we played more direct and had 3-4 players in the box for each cross.

Team moral is rock bottom. Beginning to be great full there is so much crap beneath us in the league. That said, I'd expect Leicester to beat us! Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk

Well said tbh. Only maybe lallana of the promotion bunch should get any grumbles and in further he was great for us. But seriously, anyone who believes the club and are slimey board on this are total morons. It is always the same, little ITK snippets on here, then let reporters in the press etc that tow the club line.... It's fonte off... Yeah yeah.. he such a billy big boy, a greedy bar steward etc... He upset the team.... So much that the players are coming out and saying they're gutted he's gone. He went down a league, won at Wembley with us, took us to back to back promotions, took us to 8th, 7th, 6th in the league, got us in Europe twice.... And these dip****s that we have as fans think he's just another greedy player who has milked is for all he's worth. It's clear he's been treated badly by the club this season, things have gone on behind closed doors and with only a few years left he had the choice of being marginalised and dropped, or making what he could of the club shoving him out. If he was a bad influence on the dressing room then our best players wouldn't be publicly stating they are upset at him leaving... Smacks of the impact the Lambert sale had and I suspect we'll see a similar exodus this summer. The only ones who are "greedy" at our board. They have dismantled the cortese team forcefully now, fonte was the last. They have flogged our soul and link to the team at the first opportunity to get what money they can, and they don't reinvest it... And yet, for some reason, we have fans that don't like it - but always it's the players fault, the managers fault, and not that of the board. Our ambition left when we lost cortese. Poch went, the team went, koeman went, his team torn apart. The common denominator isnt that they are all greedy slimey men, it's our board. Fonte deserves a hero's welcome, and he deserved to haved stayed here for a testimonial. As it is, from the golden team of a generation, only Kelvin got one. That is a bad joke and a failure by the board.
-
We really have some bell ends who will literally swallow whatever the club put in the press. Short memories and gullible fans. perfect for our board.
-
He is on loan at Blackburn.... not a positive.

Saints 1 Norwich 0 - For Once We Score A Late Winner!
Saint86 replied to St Chalet's topic in The Saints
If defending wasn't effective, teams wouldn't bother using it as a valid tactic. All teams struggle to break down teams that park the bus. Thats why we have the expression "park the bus". But outside of that, we can't score more than once against teams that are wide bloody open. Thats the real concern. Puel needs to go sadly. Its not going to improve. Not without spending big money and that means that the manager is not good enough of getting the most out of the players we have. Has to go IMHO; we are just wasting time and going backwards. One lower half table finish will undo most of the reputation we've gained in the last couple of seasons. -
I think the opposite of many Remainers but at least I rarely label them as such in public. I also often do my best to engage or help them out; unless of course they are of the particularly vociferous kind which are devoutly pro-corbyn / pro-farren. Those numbskulls are lost to the world and are a damning sign of our education system along with the idiots that can't pronounce the letter "t" through either stupidity or ignorance. But then it's all just personal views and opinions and we have to remember that whilst the left would oppress free speech, the rest of us uphold it as a fundamental pillar of freedom and democracy.
-
that made me lol in the office
-
We loaned one to Blackburn.
-
I think we would be doing better with Adkins at the helm. Puel has no idea how to attack in the premier league.
-
Add a decent goalkeeper to that and you a top 6 eleven - when all in their prime. Boruc Shaw, Lovren, Chambers, Clyne Lallana Morgan Wanyama Mane Lambert Pelle
-
The real fans are out in the real world. Everyone who over reacts on here or some other form of social media is just a numpty with no place to state their opinions in the real world. Every fan I know knows that the club has been poorly manged since the summer. Its not wrist slitting or being negative its a simple and blindingly obvious fact. Just scroll back to the summer threads and its the general opinion on here then. And simply put, its the tactics and inability to attack effectively. On top of that we have a board that rip up and unsettle the team/management every summer - be it to pocket some cash or because of ego's at the top. Regardless. The clubs ambition has been undermined since Poch and Cortese left. Every key staff member or player from that era has been removed from the club after Fonte. Thats fine when you bring success in like Koeman, but its clear now that that appointment was more luck than skill. I don't want to dislike Puel, but these players are clearly good enough and we never look like scoring. You can say he should be backed (and in fairness he hasn't been)... But he is either happy with what he has (and is out of his depth), or he is a yes man. That should worry us more, because it means he'll keep his job and that the board have no intention of spending money.
-
Good lord, we're hanging on at burnley for a 1-0 loss. How far have we fallen. Its the same players as the last few years, there is no excuse for this ****. 1 cup win (which should have been a lot better, i.e 3-0) and the clappers think they can say "told you so" to the rest of us. Fact is, today is what saints are these days.
-
Have we had a shot since they scored? This is a joke, and the apologists / clappers are just as bad as our tactics. God ****ing awful
-
Lowe did a good job for saints all in all (with hindsight and on balance). He got us the ground - without which we would never have been taken over as an "attractive investment". He also pumped money into and really established the academy into the force it is today. He also secured us european football. It all went wrong in the end and the fall out wasn't nice... but he wasn't that bad a chairman in truth. Especially when you consider what else we could have had.
