Can we not terminate his contract with immediate affect and sue him for subsequent losses?
-
Thats wrong for starters, there are countless examples of autocratic leadership bringing great success throughout all of history. The difference is not all succeed in that way and when they go wrong, they go wrong big time. That said, Cortese clearly knew what he was doing, and our journey to the top will not happen under KL.. You are kidding yourself if you think she will get someone in who can manager the club with the passion, ambition and cold blooded efficiency of cortese. The decline started when we where 3rd in the league, about the time that he handed in his notice funnily enough. The proof is that they knew NC was leaving and yet we have a team leader from deloitte as our new CEO.

The last 2 in table 14 for me. Prefer this years kit to stripes tbh. Makes a nice change, and we look like red and white wasps the way we press and hassle the opposition. Suits the new southampton tbh.

Found this article on Yeovil.... Not directly related to the cup but I think it encapsulates the spirit of the cup and the fight of the plucky underdog... I enjoyed the read at any rate http://theclassical.org/articles/yeovil-at-the-junction-the-hard-way-to-the-big-time-in-english-soccer

I like the current kit, like a lot of fans do. If we are to "revert back" it should be to proper traditional kits, not the stripes.

John Williams is the boy, if we can't buy success, lets be run by the guy in charge of pgmol! Winning through the back door!

Likewise I mentioned this when NC resigned... Not several days later. Its been going on for a couple of weeks, just not widely known. Leads me to believe its true.. or at least something in it. That said, all that has changed since I first heard about it is that NC has resigned and a guy called MLG started a thread online. I actually wondered at the time if NC resigned because club wanted to sell the club to a buyer who had no interest in involving cortese, although that appears wide of the mark.

Analysis: Katharina Liebherr's ascent to the Southampton helm
Saint86 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Football manager didn't.... -
Glasgow, we have one of the smaller wage budgets and one of the smallest expenditures on agents fees - all despite buying pricey big name players... West ham are paying both Ravel morrison and carlton cole more than Lambert gets here, and would increase his salary by 25k just to sign for them if the rumours are to be believed.... Couple with the above strategy we have had a meteoric rise up the leagues and reached 3rd before injuries hit. If you want to swap all that for a bunch of 30 something mercenaries with higher wages and higher fees then I'm sure as hell glad you have next to zero input into the club.

Cortese has left Southampton Football Club - Officially Confirmed
Saint86 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
You'd prefer he left in the summer? Causing turmoil In the club need to act to strengthen and defend itself in the transfer market? He's left us at the best possible time bar February the 1st... The club is safe, remote chance of Europe and shouldn't go down.... Time to get it sorted for summer.... Could also give him time to buy it. It KL to get a plan together for the future or also to sell. Bright side guys... The family that saved us now run us... They've done well so far with NC, they're good businessman/women and they support family values... Hard to believe right now but there is potential in this as well as a return to mediocrity. -

If mopo goes i'd love Nigel to come back. A man who loves the club, not its boss. Still not convinced we've seen the back of NC of course. I am slightly concerned these rumours of a Chinese takeover are true... We've seen what Asian owners do to prem teams... Maybe KL wants to sell to them and Nicola is of no interest to them. Hence faking out from his point of view. We may be shakey for a bit. But the players are in it together and the great team spirit will show through in the end. This was not planned that is for sure, or if it was, cortese will be back in charge. I can't go back to supporting the old dysfunctional saints, if we fall apart again I dread to imagine what it will do for my love of football. Would be a bitter pill to swallow for sure. -
Saints only team to take points off Man City in their last ten games
Saint86 replied to Tony F's topic in The Saints
Sadly guys, outplaying and almost beating the oil rich city with half a team and youth players isn't enough to be excited about for our fans. They want us to win the league and the fa cup this season, and then the champions league next season. Its like they think we have absolutley no chance of qualifying for Europe this year and the teams above us won't drop any more points. -
All the people moaning about their being nothing on offer at the moment are pathetic to be honest. If you can't stand to watch us go in to any game expecting to get a result then you are probably among the thousands who abandoned the club on its decent through the leagues... You go on about it being much more exciting going for back to back promotions and winning the jpt at wembley, then moan that we achieve our short term goal of reaching the premier league. Utterly pathetic, I have no interest in glory fans who are only supporting the club when they are winning things... Bunch of jokers. We didn't need you in league 1, and we sure as hell don't want you back here moaning that we aren't winning enough now we are in the upper echelons again. No issue with anyone that the above doesn't apply to ofc.

As tom28 says..... Don't be an ignorant moron, that was just a bit late, but not at all dangerous, deliberate or cynical. We'll ignore the filth fouls on clyne or lala being scythed in half in mid air during the first half. Or his utter lack of control of time wasting and overalling linesmen and women to Gove incorrect decisions on throws and corners.

Haha I called Kelvin! Can't believe he is best mates with fox considering the lack of cover gives him Down the left
-
I think he'll go for kelvin in goal, after everything he has given to the club and turning down west ham etc, he is certainly one of our stallwarts. Think we should do a competition to see who can predict his team. GK - Kelvin Defence - Shaw, clyne, Jaidi, Fonte Midfield - Morgan, Cork, JayRod, Bale, Walcot Forward - Lambert Rose tinted classes off.

LoL, OBVIOUSLY.. Do you have eyes?

On The FantasyFC... (Watch The Fantasy Football Club, 6.30pm and 10pm, Friday, Sky Sports 1.) Southampton midfielder Adam Lallana picks his #One2Eleven, while Benito Carbone is in the studio. Southampton and England midfielder Adam Lallana will pick his #One2Eleven on Friday night's The Fantasy Football Club. The 25-year-old, who's scored five goals for his club this season, is regarded as one of the rising stars of the game and won his first senior international cap for England in a friendly against Chile last November. Now, the attacking midfielder will have his sights firmly set on retaining his place in the squad for this summer's World Cup in Brazil. But who are the best 'ballers he's played with during his Southampton career? Surely Real Madrid's record-signing Gareth Bale will get the nod, but will current team-mates Rickie Lambert and Jay Rodriguez make the cut? Or will Lallana go for former Saints such as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain? You can find out on this week's show and there's also all this lot to look forward to... We'll see former Sheffield Wednesday, Aston Villa and Bradford striker Benito Carbone enter the studio for a chat with Fenners and Merse. Benito, who played for 17 clubs during his career, including Napoli, Inter Milan, Derby and Sydney FC will share memories of his time in England and could reflect on his days at Hillsborough with charismatic countryman Paolo Di Canio. Plus, League Two promotion hopefuls Chesterfield will test their mettle in our Two-Footed Corner Challenge. For those of you unfamiliar with the shows format, lallana will likely have the dubious pleasure of being interviewed by Merson whilst also picking out his fantasy 11 based on all the players he has ever played with. Enjoy!

I'd have our Nige back in a heartbeat, he's been shat on by Readings illusive owner who once again offered no funds (First with McD in the prem) and has ruled himself out of the West Brom job despite it being perfect for him. He has allready agreed to take over in June/July.... We all know NC lines up replacements in advance after all!
-
Newcastle and crystal palace should do far far better than predicted here, but an interesting share so thank you.
-
This! Fonte's was crucial, but league 1 promotion is nothing compared to getting back into the premier league. It was funny that we stopped brightons unbeaten home record in their final season there though
-
Biggest 2 goals of the championship season were scored by big Jos vs west ham.... People who think that the lambert vs leeds goal was the biggest goal need their brains testing guys! Jos got us 4 points off west ham, not 4 points to west ham - thats an 8 point swing... no promotion...
