  1. We haven't average £20m on the above 4 players.... So we don't need to average £20m on 5.... The figures we are spending you are more looking at 8 players for £100m... Stop being melodramatic. Another summer like last with 3 quality additions in quality areas and we will be in very good stead.
  2. That is utter hore****. Midfield is done and dusted, espciailly when ramirez comes good. We need a CB of Lovren or Fonte's level or better. We need someone like Osvaldo who isn't going to upset the team. We need a quality GK. As for spend. Ramirez is our most skillful player (£12m), wanyama (£12m) Lovren (£8m), Osvaldo (£12-15m). If we spend on good young players who actually fit and don't upset the team then I reckon we will have a very good first 11 next season. In perspective, we were close to drawing away to arsenal, beating them at home. In both games vs chelsea we utterly outplayed them for 60min (granted chelsea are far better than us and showed it in how they stepped up), we drew away to united, battered tottenham, drew with city when at 50% squad fitness. It really won't take much to push this squad on that little bit further so that we are challenging for europe. Certainly not £100m.... It is all about continuity and growing the squad organically... Not tottenham's upheaval. We need anther 3 quality signings and none going out next season. Yes the team has been disappointing of late, but we deserved at least a draw against Wet Spam, and Sunderland was frankly appalling, but its fine margins for this team now! Onwards and upwards.
  3. Note it down guys. It is also the first time I have whole heartily, unequivocally agreed with turkish. He has been direct, and straight to the point! Every season we have a pointless thread about potential kits. This needs to change. Every season we need a thread which states "Give us the kit above ffs!" - How much do they pay the marketing team.
  4. Haha, bless West Ham, they know how to cheer us up thats for sure. Just when we thought no one was more small time that the blue few, it turns out that hammers fans have a whole section focuses on opposition forums (but only when they win :mcinnes:) My favourite part about it is the hypocrisy of their fanbase now defending BFS's style when they wanted him out during the season he got them promoted. They really are a special lot, bless them!! This is literally hysterical. Dave in Sweden, you'll be pleased to know you made the list They even know where your from! Don't think they quoted glasgow though... he'll have to have words I mean he goes to so much effort! http://kumb.com/story.php?id=127386 Enjoy guys ::
  5. Purely because of the manager and no one else. The cup debacle was entirely on MoPo..... 4 wins in 17 tells another tale. Transfer wise, lets be honest, he signed Osvaldo, and the committee definitely signed wanyama and lovren, and ramirez. You give Nigel Adkins this team, we would score a **** load more, Lambert would be a new man, and we would go back to having **** all injuries... The most telling stat, Morgan no injuries for 3 seasons, then MoPo arrived. Adkins record once the team had adjusted is better than MoPo's, with a worse team. Plus Nigel actually loved the fans. Its clear than MoPo has far less feeling towards the fanbase, has zero interest in winning any silver trophies, and has openly refused to commit to the club going forward. I really hope we are looking for replacement's at this moment in time. Because we need to be ready when he ditches us, or being pre-emptive about it. Was it worth breaking up a winning team for sunderland? Just to go out of the cup, with a week to recover for this game? Is 9th place worth more than a possible trip to wembley?
  6. Don't hold your breath mate. He couldn't turn it around against Sunderland's second string and they would have gotten relegated in the championship. Serious doubts emerging. He is achieving the bare minimum with this squad this season and only 1 win against a top 10 team. Cortese would likely have got rid in the summer if we only manager a 9th place finish and limp across the line at that. MoPo is in serious danger of losing the fans after Sunderland, and a limp end of season like last year would mean most of us won't care if he leaves in the summer. Honeymoon is coming to a close, the man needs to step up, starting this afternoon.
  7. Thank god for no wanyama!!! Cork is twice the player
  8. Hmm, fair play... he does appear to have a bit of passion and spite and some of the criticism has clearly stung him. If he puts his money where his mouth is and delivers then I can forgive sunderland.
  9. It can be solved in excel using the "solver" add in... It would require some time on someones part and little bit of know how, but shouldn't be too difficult. Ultimately, you would have input all remaining fixtures, then set the solver to maximize the value of the 18th placed team and allow it to auto compute the results. (Not that the table would obviously fluctuate with each permutation so the objective would simply be to maximize the cell value for points at league position 18. You'd have to do some look ups to make the league table function.
  10. So, you can only name 4 teams with cup runs that you feel saw them worse off... that's an awful lot of teams who didn't have a negative reaction from their cup runs over the corresponding years
  11. The league cup less so, lets not kid ourselves. That sunderland 11 would flounder in the championship. It smarts more that the next round would not have been vs one of the favourites so as far as I am concerned, we looked a trip at wembley in the face then told it to **** off. It is a total disrespect to the fans (the ones who went should have been compensated no question!) and has instantly made me lose all love for Poch. If his heart was in the club he would want to win something for the fans and would certainly give them better than this. I will be very surprised if he resigns. and to be frank, i view him with total apathy at the moment. It will take something of an equal and opposite turn of events to sunderland to swing that back round. I support the team always, but i am not happy at poch and the clubs attitude... I thought i had a right rare bet when I got saints 50/1 E/W in both cups this year... How little did I know.... Season is over for us. And how shocking is this............. The only thing keeping me going is the chance to support england and cheer on some saints in the world cup. After years of supporting the team playng the better football in england matches (or us when we're the underdogs ) I actually get to cheer england on without headbutting the wall at how boring and negative it is... Saints players will be there to cheer on!
  12. All for Lambert to miss from 3 yards out This is a defeat.... Mind you Sunderland had win (and therefore defeat) written all over it! I have a mate whose family keep a west ham season ticket going in the memory of a late relative... Following on from the Sunderland game and having to sit in the home section during the 4-1 capitulation last season, you can imagine why I am not going to this again this year. I fully expect them to kick the crap out of us, Dickinberg to give us nothing and for the team to play crap after the poor showing in the cup... after all, what is there to play for now.
  13. In my squad, no! He is a good player of course, but he won't last the pace in brazil, not in those conditions, and not in a tournament. Add to that the need to start blooding the youngsters and the fact that this will be Gerrard's last tournament for sure.
  14. Anyone stupid enough to go and pay £42 to watch West Ham? Well I thought I should give you forewarning of what you are in for in advance... Clattenburg has returned! You can kiss those points goodbye.. I am surprised we have been given him again this season at any rate. http://www.romfordrecorder.co.uk/football/west-ham/mark_clattenburg_to_take_charge_of_southampton_v_west_ham_1_3339650
  15. Hart, (and 2 from Foster, Forster and Ruddy) Cahil, Jagielka, Terry, Baines, Shaw, Walker, Chambers (Allready better than Clyne) Wiltshire, Barkley, Barry/Cork, Carrick, Lallana, Johnson, Henderson, Milner, Oxlade Rooney, Sturridge, Lambert, JayRod OP has wellbeck and Jayrod - this will not happen. Lambert is of the boil to a degree, but its him or Carroll. I can't stand carrick, think he is useless, but he will go... All this ******** of needing him against possession teams.... Did people not watch him vs Barcelona, utter bystander 101. For me, the best English right back in the premier league, on current form is chambers. Lampard will not go to the world cup. Barring some major injuries. He isn't a first team regular at Chelsea and his fitness is not what it was.
  16. Happy Birthday Rickie! Greatest Saint since Le Tiss with no doubt whatsoever!
  17. What is even more laughable, is that people think our squad needs more than 1 week of rest to be match fit for the next game. Because what you are saying, is that with 1 weeks rest, our players would be unfit for the next match...
  18. Started as a rumour on facebook. The end.
  19. Posted at least 2min before the final whistle... what a gimp As for the game. The but starts and stops at MoPo, You can't have Lallana saying its the players biggest game of the season and then pick a second string team... demoralise the players before they even start the game. Other than that they were all fu cking useless bar Davis who put in a decent shift as always. Anyone else think that lallana and shaw espeically were worried about getting injured after the last game vs sunderland.... Its starting to get to their heads if so. All in all, no defending that performance, they couldn't have looked less interested in winning if they tried. Worst ever performance I have seen from a saints team.
  20. 21seconds, awful awful pass from Wanayama.... then again on 1min... Can't even make a 10m pass. Christ.
  21. Well played getting in before glasgow, i tip my hat sir! We should win this given sunderlands team.... However, everyone is expecting us to walk it (bar warnock who doesnt like us lol) I am therefore very nervous..., Poyet is a hard manager and a good motivator with a record vs saints... I therefore expect his weakest team to do something, especially given our starting 11 being below par. We underestimated sunderland with that team, we may regret it! That said, come on saints. And great effort by our fans to get themselves up there for this! Great effort!!
  22. No? Well neither did Portsmouth, in fact they didn't survive in League 1 either, and they are barely surviving in League 2
  23. Made a few changes (Underlined), but in truth I wouldn't argue too much.
  24. Those figures are selectively low in many cases, although it was my understanding that cork was on a free transfer at the end of his contract? That is semantics anyway; the point made was our Team last night cost £12.5m.... Which is clearly wrong since wanyama alone is over that. I wouldn't disagree that our starting 11 is under £15m on transfer fees alone. But lets not kid ourselves, we have spent very large sums on money in the past 2 seasons.
  25. Morgan £1m Lambert £1.25m Fonte £1.25m Davis £800k jayrod £7.5m Victor £12m Yoshi ~ £3m Do our fans really think our team costs £12.5m and go spouting that arrogant rubbish on other forums? Last nights team is over double that, circa £27m, ignoring free transfers for cork and boruc and development costs of the kids. We have 3 other transfers that add at least £32m to that as well.
