  1. Furthermore, do we want a man in charge who's only experience of running a business is a failed restaurant that cost it's owners £100k before closing down, or a respected banker/broker/businessman with experience in handling many multi-million £ transactions?
  2. Saw Django Unchained of Friday. I'm not Tarantino's biggest fan, Death Proof is seriously amongst the dullest films I have ever seen and I really don't get the fuss about Inglorious Basterds - though that said Pulp Fiction & Reservoir Dogs are two of my favourite films. This latest offering was brilliant. A bit long, some bits a tad drawn out, but on the whole a great film. Some seriously pant-wetting moments. Absolute must-see.
  3. Not really. It's not exactly uncommon for clubs to go away on training camps when they have time between fixtures. Pretty sure this isn't even the first time saints have done it this season. Wouldn't be massively surprised if this planned previously, and Adkins would have been taking the same session if still in charge.
  4. Seems sensible if true. Get away from any unwanted attention, nicer climate, chance to get to know each other. Why not?
  5. Are you naive enough to think any player at any club would do otherwise? What sort of player is going to come out and say "we are all fuming, none of us are happy about this, and are not going to listen to a word the new guy says"? Clearly they are going to fall in line, and welcome the new guy. Especially those on the fringes of the team, who may see the new manager as a new chance to get closer to the team.
  6. Have to say Mr Alpine, I am inclined to agree with you here. As for MLT, can he just pipe down now, please. Yes, the guy is a legend. He was a fantastic player, and should be remembered as such. What does the guy know about running a football club? The guy has had one venture into running a business, a restaurant with his mate. This venture lost him about £100k according to an interview he gave a while back. Maybe we should leave running the club to the man that has bought a lot of success to the club since he has been running it.
  7. Ok, So, in the cold light of day... I'm willing to admit that I perhaps over-reacted and threw my toys out of the pram a little bit. I was, and still am absolutely gutted that Nigel has gone. I felt a great affection for the guy, given what he achieved at the club and the way he conducted himself through out. Perhaps, writing off my involvement with (i.e. following) football was premature and knee-jerk, but it has certainly dampened my love for the game somewhat, albeit temporarily. Time to look forward I guess, and hope MP is as good as some people say he is.
  8. Right lads. It's been fun. **** Football. I'm done.
  9. Talk about in-depth journalism http://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/2892/transfer-zone/2013/01/18/3681302/adkins-on-verge-of-southampton-exit?source=breakingnews&ICID=HP_BN_1
  10. Where though? Twitter? Every few days people have to deny rumours they are dead on twitter. In terms of papers/news outlets it's about the same.
  11. As was 'Arry, Di Matteo & Gross. Yet none were appointed?
  12. This is the problem with Social Media. One 'source' sees something, and then instantly thousands of others can propagate it. Smacks of the 'Arry rumours earlier in the season to me. Maybe I am burying my head in the sand, but I don't see anything to suggest this might happen, other than gossip.
  13. Apparently last season all we did is beat the crap teams, and we got promoted. Doesn't matter who we beat, 3 points is 3 points. No reason we can't beat Everton. Won't be an easy game for sure, but who would have thought we'd snatch a draw when 2-0 down at HT? I do agree we have looked bad at times, but we have also looked good at times too. IMO, yourself and certain other posters around the time of this thread we looking solely at the negatives and ignoring any positives. Balance is essential.
  14. Fair enough then. Maybe just try remember this next time we hit a bad patch in November, it's a marathon not a sprint
  15. Are you still unwilling to accept that yours and certain other posters reactions at around this time were a bit premature and OTT?
  16. Hehehehehe today's happenings throwing up some beauties, worth taking a look: https://twitter.com/RAWK_Meltdown
  17. Young man in growing up shocker. Come on, as if there aren't countless other players who didn't take time to mature. Our Rickie didn't exactly start setting the world alight until his mid-to-late 20s. Look at him now. He himself said he didn't look after himself and take professionalism seriously in his younger years. At 24, Forren is well on track, especially for a CB.
  18. Because he is clearly going to be a very good player for us. Simple as.
  19. The more I see it, the more I think Gaston knew what he was doing.
  20. Can't recommend Barcelona enough. Best bit is it that it is an amazing city, and has a really nice beach. Great food, great wine, beautiful architecture, fantastic transport links, and an easy hop across (usually pretty cheap flights too).
  21. I'll admit it. I wanted shot of him. I thought he was a toxic character that would bring us down. I was wrong, and the lad has shoved my words down my throat. Good on him. Hope he stays now.
  22. I know how simple this sounds, but I have been stung by this before: Read and understand EVERYTHING before you sign anything. Can save a lot of hassle in the long run. Good luck.
  23. Never been to the City properly, aside from one trip to Goodison with a toffee supporting mate a few years ago so cannot comment on that. But on Football they are really annoying. Still living on past glories. It's not the 80s anymore, they have been poorly run for a while now, spending a small fortune attempting to chase the big boys and spending very poorly. The backing of their fans for 'King Kenny' is just laughable. No doubt he is a legend for the club, deservedly so. But it was painfully obvious he was hideously out of touch with the modern game. Spent way over the odds on far too many players, and his handling of the Suarez case was shocking. The love in they still have with Rafa I find baffling. Another manager that spent a huge amount (despite constantly complaining about a lack of funds - as well as just about everything else (I really hate Rafa, he is worse than any L'pool fan, he seriously believed everyone should just lie down at the feet of him and Liverpool)). Fact is they are a mid-table team. Some good players, and I do rate Rodgers, although I'm starting to dislike him as he grows into this Liverpool victim the world owes us a favour, everyone should bow before us mentality. I do think they will probably come good if he is given the time to clear up the messes left by his predecessors'. Anyone follow RAWK Meltdown on Twitter? Some absolute nuggets of gold on there!
  24. Had a quick scan through, but sorry if this has already been posted. Nice tweet from Mr. Lineker: Gary Lineker ‏@GaryLineker Brilliant point for Southampton. Like the way they play and I'm convinced Saints will stay up
