  1. I would be keen to see Reed given a chance. Can't say he's put a foot wrong in his brief cameos so a place in the starting XI is probably the next stage of his development. The injury crisis and our mid table security could give us a good chance to give more game time to those pushing for a place in the first team to stake a claim for next season.
  2. Young enough not to get more then a few dodgy looks for his efforts and maybe hearing the odd muttered profanity but, if you can convince him, maybe best going with something neutral. If he's a Newcastle fan through and through no sense trying to deck him out in saints gear!

  4. I think I am with the prevailing opinion, it would be great to have a dedicated standing area - the rail seating that makes it fully convertible back and forth seems to suit all. The obvious is the cost implication, I think part of the hope for safe standing is a reduction in ticket pricing but, with general trends and the costs of converting current stadia needing to be met, for a lot of clubs (ourselves included) I doubt we would see any such reductions for a long time if at all. People do seem to be stuck in the 80's with knee-jerk responses as soon the standing and football is brought up (of course it is understandable from those affected by tragedy but this does not make them correct). First of all ground safety has moved on dramatically and, perhaps more pertinently, we all now know standing was not the problem but shocking policing and management of the standing area.
  5. Glasgowsaint in negative fishing thread shocker ... Nothing wrong with being a pessimist or having a different opinion but kindly stop shoving them down everyone else's throat
  6. In my opinion I think we still have another year of Shaw at our club. Paper talk is paper talk but he is making all the right noises about knowing we are the best place for his development. My best guess is season after next he leaves for a significant fee! Those suggesting a fee is agreed, why would we have done so? His value is only going upwards, there is potential for a bidding war and he may yet go to the Brazil. If nobody wants to pay over the odds then I can't imagine we would sell.
  7. Crikey, potential good news for bmouth then! I still think, at a certain price, we owe him the chance to speak to a 'bigger' side should he want to. I would hope he would stay, one club man like le tiss is the dream ..., but he has given us so much I hope we'd include him in any decision to reject an offer from elsewhere.
  8. Value really depends on if he is keen to talk to a bigger club. 25 or up we owe him the option but we could, a good wc provided and a bit of a bidding war, see close to 30. Anything under 20 and simply no deal I would hope, worth a lot to the team for so many reasons!
  9. I know! Tried to get to one at the end last season but they were like gold dust! One of the london away days would be cracking this year, failing that I'll be sticking to the cat c home games, student budgets eh!
  10. Yes I did. No information was there about the whole loyalty before general sale that has been applied before for home games. As I have never been to an away I was hoping somebody could let me know if this was in place for away days. Do you have some problem with asking fellow fans a saints related question on a saints forum...?
  11. Agree with the lot really, I had backed Cardiff to have a good season but I honestly think the behind the scenes nonsense has affected their performances. I had Martinez down as somebody who needed to prove himself with a 'bigger' club and so far he's done so, comes across well so happy to be proved wrong about him. For me the big surprise has been Utd. Thought they would need time to settle but honestly could not seem them dropping out of the top four how they have. Had a bet with a spurs mate they would finish below both Manc sides, Adebayor and Sherwood (another shock!) appear to have screwed that one up
  12. Thanks, hope there are some left come friday!
  13. Sorry to hijack the thread but not sure it's worth a new one, anybody know a) how much tickets will be? and b) when will they go beyond season ticket holders and go to eligible previous purchasers?
  14. West ham did what West ham under big sam do, it's never pretty but it works, we need to work out how to play against this sort of thing because it will keep happening otherwise. Long term though I hope our approach of developing a style of playing and focusing on a "holistic" approach will reap dividends while they're serious short-termism will come back to bite them in the arse Genuinely used to have a lot of time for wham a few years ago before the Tevez saga, the sharp incident, the usual nolan antics and big sam! Remember when wham developed talented english players playing attractive football...?
  15. Sports knowledge, professionalism, record of success ... sure he can learn plenty about football on the job. If he ticks plenty of other boxes then let's hope he can add something of value.
  16. Fair point but I think Turkish hit the nail on the head, we missed the player he should have been. In my opinion it was a gamble worth taking mind you as he had plenty of quality and could have been the answer to a lot of our problems this season. We've really not been far from being real class, the summer could be really really interesting I suppose...
  17. Not happy, Sunderland always seem to drag out a result against us lately and a long away day for the fans. Oh well it is a decent chance to go through and more big guns likely to drop out!
  18. All sounds lovely but doesn't actually say much specific about long term intentions ...
  19. Yes but the city owners do have a whiff of bond villain about them ... we will slowly and secretly take over the world starting with our MLS franchise and there is nothing you can do about it Mr Bond! No? Just me ...
  20. How about a collective of soton/football fan businessmen, sponsors and fans trust. An elected chairman every so many years from the bunch and an element of collective decision making with a real push for sustainability. But then of course it comes down to finances, can we maintain some level of success and stability without a large benefactor?
  21. Okay we may well not be in the running for the title etc etc however I don't think I'm alone in enjoying the football we are currently playing. That and it's exciting to see the academy grads playing often and playing well. Throw in the fact that our league campaign might result in one or more of ours off to Brazil in the summer, now that's rather exciting!
  22. Use an add blocker and/or internet security. As others have said basically fine as long as you don't download anything. With wiziwig it very much depends which link you follow, I would suggest http://www.nutjob.eu/ but with an adblocker to avoid pesky ads!
  23. Brilliant that you immediately identified yourself as a tool

    Danny Ings

Surely it is more about potential? Ings is a fair way behind Rodriguez in his development so it is more of a case of "does he have the potential to be better than" not "is he better then" Either way potential is subjective and tricky to value, a player is always one injury away from oblivion, but I like what I have seen of him so far and I get the impression plenty of Burnley fans do too.
  25. Don't think he has actually moaned ... Honestly see this is usual tittle tattle and, if he does decide to go, we as a club should be okay. Let's not worry eh!
