  1. There are very few players like him, so yes. That's probably the price we had to pay to have that useful option in our squad. Besides, I'm not that protective over our transfer fees. As long as we're not lobbing £20-30m around on flops I don't see the problem.
  2. Pelle had a good game at Stamford Bridge, but Mane always ups his game against them so needs to start. With the new system that will probably mean him and Long up top together.
  3. Can't say I agree. We had some shockers playing that formation earlier in the season, including the 6-1 against Liverpool, and have played four at the back during this run. It's defensive belief and organisation, which starts with Forster. I think Pelle's injury was a huge factor as well, forcing us to rethink how we could attack.
  4. Yep - if Goodison Park is the best place to go for neutrals' entertainment this season I think following us away has got to be among the worst.
  5. A) Goalmouth scramble between Fonte, Pelle, Fabianski and I believe a Swansea defender. Fell from the keeper's hands and down to Fonte who tapped it in, but the ref blew either for knocking the ball out of the keeper's hands or for some other foul. Don't remember any lunges at all, though we were at the other end of the ground. The only penalty appeal which really annoyed the Swansea fans looked like one of them running into Yoshida from behind and going down. Another great defensive performance against a spirited Swansea team. Shut down their space and made them look like they lacked creativity, just like we did against West Ham. Ward-Prowse probably my man of the match, got himself all over the pitch and put in a lovely cross for the goal. I'm not sure that is a good sign. This versatility is good but ideally we'd have a settled team that could go and compete every week.
  6. We're playing well, so they're all brilliant signings. Perhaps if we lose next week they'll be slightly worse.
  7. Think it was a late/night Saturday kick off.
  8. I always find it strange how some players' names get mispronounced by their own managers and teammates. Are you sure that's how he said it though? I can imagine a low quality video making it hard to distinguish.
  9. That shouldn't have been as hard as it was but what a big win! Wanyama's moronic red did change the game in a sense, because it spurred the crowd and team on. We might have fallen totally to sleep otherwise.
  10. Yep - I'm with you there.
  11. This was a brilliant game. Glad I can look back on it fondly though, if we'd missed promotion I'd still be fuming.
  12. Can people please stop acting like our immediate form with carry on indefinitely? People did it when we were on a bad run, convincing themselves we were going to get relegated, and are doing it now. Europe has got to be the target and we are capable, but competition is really tough at the moment.
  13. They were overreacting to the form of their team.
  14. The Mucky Duck for sure.
  15. Didn't notice it during the game but in hindsight you're absolutely right.
  16. You'd have to watch the Leeds game again to look at Kelvin's overall performance, but in terms of significance to the club it's no contest.
  17. All the plaudits will rightly go to Forster but Wanyama also had a brilliant game. Arsenal were clearly the better side in the second half but it was their quality rather than our weakness which got them their chances.
  18. Romeu's lost focus in the second half.
  19. Need Pelle on to hold the ball up and relieve some pressure. Tadic off, he's been anonymous for most of the game.
  20. Love the entitled Arsenal fans booing at half time when they've had the better chances and not had a single moment of strong support since kickoff.
  21. First mistake by Romeu and Arsenal are in - ball watching and losing the run inside.
  22. Romeu and Wanyama have had great halves. Arsenal are all over the shop defensively and we should have punished them. Lord knows they'll punish us if we slip up.
  23. This is going to be such a fun day - hope Jos, Morgan, Lallana and Lambert all make it.
  24. I think his Premier League experience goes some way to mitigating his lack of record, but I suppose United would want a manager who has handled the Champions League on top of domestic fixtures. He'd be something of a gamble, but they might sense that if they don't get him now, someone else will and for a long time.
  25. That's a ringing endorsement of Pochettino. He's crafted that team in his image. I expect he'll have a few offers this summer. If he gets Spurs into the Champions League he might well fancy another year with them, but merry-go-rounds like this don't happen every year. Think he'd be daft to choose Chelsea over United, if those choices were available to him.
