  1. 20 years ago it probably would have gone over Danny Simpson's head.
  2. You'd be spitting blood if that was given against us. Not a handball at all - it would have hit his ribs.
  3. Yep - this has been a really good performance. Try and stem their momentum again and we've got every chance.
  4. Can someone give Niall Quinn a sedative?
  5. Got to score that - perhaps Wanyama should have shouted to lay it off.

Won't Guardiola have his own man?
  7. So good to see Rodriguez back. Hope he comes on and gets the winner. That's a very strong lineup. Vardy won't find it easy to get round Bertrand.
  8. Are you suggesting it's not a story?
  9. In which a player who's not in the team gets his people to rock the boat a little in an attempt to spook the manager. No conspiracy from outside the club - it's Tadic and/or his representatives playing politics, by the looks of things. Remember his comments about the Serbia manager.
  10. That's a little harsh on Welbeck, I always fancy him to cause some problems for defenders when he plays for England.
  11. I've decided the only reason I'd want anything other than a win is if it stops Tottenham from winning the league at our game against them.
  12. Fonte's always been open about his desire to go back to Portugal - but you'd sense it's paving the way for a move once he's out of our first team/captaincy. Can't believe he'd leave now.
  13. It's far from clear what would happen, but realistically no government with any political instinct is going to turf out famous footballers if it's in their power to prevent it. This quote from a Glasgow sports industry professor is interesting though: "I don't personally believe it will have a huge impact on the biggest names but it could have an effect on the general traffic of non-star international players, which may hurt the league's quality and attractiveness to foreign investors.
  14. Butland's fractured his ankle. Bad news for England and gutting for such a young keeper, but will also be a big boost for Saints in fending off Stoke. He'll be a huge loss for them.
  15. Hodgson said the other day that newcomers have got to do more than show a good bit of form to convince him to ditch a player he's been developing and working into the team over time. But that's when he was asked about Mark Noble, rather than someone who's been as good as Drinkwater. As for Lallana, I think it's the formation that gets him in over Vardy. Also, United would be mad to get rid of Schneiderlin. He'd go straight to one of their competitors if allowed and improve any of them. Mourinho will want to start him. Remarkable stat I saw today - 11 of the last 17 England debutants were managed by Pochettino when they were called up. He's as important to England as Hodgson, if not more. And no one can reasonably think Koeman is as good with youth.
  16. Think the above post is right, but he went straight for the ball when it was given. I remember he did the same once before but Fonte ran up and overruled him because JWP was the pen taker.
  17. I was half expecting Van Dijk to take our penalty against Liverpool. In the absence of a specialist, he's the coolest head.
  18. You want Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to replace Wanyama?!
  19. It's interesting that he was rarely mentioned among the best of all time until today. I'm too young to have seen him or recognise the context of the trail he blazed, given so much of modern football follows and has developed it. Did Pele or Maradona have the same influence on how the game is played? Will Messi?
  20. Anyone lip read the conversation between Lallana and the ref when he gave the penalty?
  21. Wanyama is an utterly brilliant footballer. We're going to miss him if he leaves.
  22. Absolutely. I doubt he'll want to go anywhere in this league where he'll be second choice.
  23. Two quality goals from us, even if Butland could have saved the second. Essential to get a result against Liverpool now and put the pressure on them with their games in hand.
  24. Same as every year - Gylfi Sigurdsson.
  25. I won't rest until everyone swaps the name 'Liverhampton' for the vastly superior 'Scousehampton'.
