Schneiderlin Joins Manchester United (Official)DuncanRG replied to Bewildered's topic in The Saints Probably. A good Van Persie replacement (or two) and they're in business.

Schneiderlin Joins Manchester United (Official)DuncanRG replied to Bewildered's topic in The Saints They're still at least a centre half and a forward away from being title challengers for me - and that's if those who have already signed can gel. Plus a keeper if De Gea leaves.

Schneiderlin Joins Manchester United (Official)DuncanRG replied to Bewildered's topic in The Saints Eh? He'll start plenty of games and is no doubt seen as a long-term replacement for Carrick. Anyway, sad to see a player of such class leave but what a pleasure it's been to watch him grow. £25m+ is very good money too, if that's what we've got.

Schneiderlin Joins Manchester United (Official)DuncanRG replied to Bewildered's topic in The Saints Atletico, maybe. Not sure what Spurs have done wrong.

Jay looks like he's put on a lot of bulk: (I hope it's bulk...)
-
You might have to explain that one

The 2016 headliners were booked before Foo Fighters pulled out so it won't be them. Aretha Franklin in the legends slot, please.

Without getting into a whose-club-is-bigger-than-whose discussion, these guys were hardly playing for Luton Town before.

I made all these complaints and more until I went. Best place on earth, brilliant weekend.

None of this is as peculiar as the new Saints signings being briefed to call us a big club.
-
It also happens to be the order in which events unfolded. It's a daft question because his rise hasn't been meteoric. He was a good performer in Championship for several years and a good performer in the Premier League for two years before the national call-up and serious interest from big clubs.

Seems he is/was willing to go to Palace so I'm sure wages aren't a problem

DONE DEAL: Saints sign Maarten Stekelenburg on season-long loanDuncanRG replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints Bloody hell, has he?

DONE DEAL: Saints sign Maarten Stekelenburg on season-long loanDuncanRG replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints I think everyone's expecting Clyne and Schneiderlin to go now and won't be too gutted when they do given we've brought players in first. A shock departure like Chambers could still rattle a few cages though.

DONE DEAL: Saints sign Maarten Stekelenburg on season-long loanDuncanRG replied to supersonic's topic in The Saints Pleased with this - as we were only after a loan it was unlikely we'd get another club's first-choice keeper, so getting one with PL, European and international experience is great. Hope he can rediscover form. Getting a run in the team (unlike Monaco) with a decent defence (unlike Fulham) will probably help...

They're a more prestigious club with a better team, they're in London and they pay more. I don't think any potential signing is going to be put off by the fact that they're selling Benjamin Stambouli.

There will be good keepers who see this as an opportunity to prove themselves in a stronger side and hold their place when Forster returns. Whether they would succeed remains to be seen!

Transfer update on Clyne, Schneiderlin and transfer prioritiesDuncanRG replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints Long's got a poem of some description tattooed on his chest, possibly others

Can see why playing alongside Vertonghen would attract him.

Transfer update on Clyne, Schneiderlin and transfer prioritiesDuncanRG replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints You're in cloud cuckoo land if you think Morgan conducted himself more professionally than Adam Lallana, Luke Shaw or Calum Chambers last summer.

Fan of his when I've seen him play, but it looks like there are a lot of hurdles to jump before we could sign him - not least that Gundogan's already leaving.
