Cortese = Lowe + money. Not that I am complaining mind. I thought Lowe did a very good job here just as Cortese is doing. The problem is that both have a terrible grasp of PR. Which is weird as to sweet talk a football fan is the easiest thing in the world. (if in doubt just ask Mikey (Saints Go) Wilde) It's a shame that Lowe's appaling PR with the fans with always overshadow his acheivements here. He took a club with a run down ground, academy that had done nothing since the Wallaces and playing squad just about the worst ever in the Prem (bar one player) which was a purpetual relegation candidate and turned it into a club capable of competing in the Prem League in the 21st century. I cannot think any sane fan would look at our squads from the late 90s and say that apart from MLT we would have been relegated. The writing was therefore on the wall that as soon as MLT's powers on the pitch wained we would get relegated. However, after the takeover, the setup put in place by Lowe actually meant the club improved even tho MLT's influence got less and less. Under Hoddle and WGS we were a top 10 Prem club and reached the Cup final. This was a pretty good achievment given what Lowe inherited and also the fact that we were one of the few Prem teams not able to run at huges losses due to being subsidised by a sugar daddy....

No L1 club will ever win the cup. HTH.

Exactly, even with hooliganism under control there are still occasional incidents that cause the FA much embarresment to not a chance they will allow something that could be viewed as a breeding ground for hooliganism.

Waste of time. Will never ever happen. The authorities would view the safe standing (a contradiction in terms?) area as a breeding ground for the more unsavoury elements of football behaviour. Hooliganism has been dramatically reduced in recent years and those in power would view safe standing as something that could contribute to in going back to the bad old days.

It included the old favourites of Chuckles saying he has seem someone's Mum in town, leaving when someone had proved him wrong as he had to take his Missus to the hairdressers and my personal favourite, him posting his mobile number and asking people to ring him for a 'chat'... Whatever happened to him? I guess he is more tied up with his Socialist Worker activities in the current economic climate.

Given that Pompey haven't been able to field the maximum number of subs on the bench how on earth can they play a reserve team? (or was it just a keeper and 4 outfield players playing?)

We did not outspend every L1 club in the last window. We brought in 3 out of contract players (all fullbacks), one resulted in a tribunal fee but other clubs in L1 spent a lot more than that.
