I guess the problem is that the league can't be seen to help one club at the expense of others. Say they give Pompey a hand, and as a result they stay up. Whoever goes down in their place is going to be mightily p1ssed off. And would probably start court proceedings.

If we sign a striker in January, they are likely to spend 90% of their time on the bench. Essentially they would be cover in case Lambert gets injured. There are better areas of the team on which to spend 'real' money.

Right, just been asked to organise a stag do for my brother. Problem is it's in a months' time so pretty short notice. Need to stay fairly local (within a hour, hour and a half) as my wife will be eight months pregnant and I need to be within reach. Most of the people going will be late 30s with a couple older than that and a couple younger. What ideas do people have? Anyone been on any good stag do's in the local area?

Hi. My brother in law is looking to buy a desktop. Doesn't need anything flash, he'll mainly be browsing the web, doing a bit of wrod processing and accounts etc. Doesn't do much gaming (he's got a PS3 for that), only needs to be able to handle championship manager. Wants to spend less than £500. Anyone know of any good deals?
