What Manji said might be true, but Putin is still a bigger Cunt. He isn't in any imminent danger either, he has collected a lot of his country's wealth and his invasion has killed a lot more people than what supposedly came before. There are bad people and there are worse people, I will side with the lesser of two evils.
  2. Donuts cause issues Ok I know I have been away from the UK for a while now, but can someone explain why giving people donuts is a problem?

I bet Ukraine had wished they had listened to some of our surrender suggesting members a few weeks back..... Anyway, I think that some of those deaths might be people in different factions bumping off potential rivals in an attempt to jockey for positions in a power vacuum situation. Or people using this as opportunity to settle scores while a bit of plausible deniability is available. However most probably involve direction from the top.
  4. When I lived in North London I would try to get to away games in London which nets quite a few games most seasons. Now I am in the states my couple visits back I looked to making a match but unfortunately the middle weekends fell when Saints were away in the north far from family (Newcastle and Manchester I believe) tried to get to Milan when I was in southern Germany for work, but couldn't find a way there and back in the time window. So I do not know when I will get to see them live again. However one advantage is for $5 a month I cam watch all of their premier league games without needing to find a dodgy stream.
  5. Please no to the was once promosing but no longer good floating around clubs thinking each can unlock their potential, which has been robbed by age/injury/attitude but still on big money type player. If you want someone who is "good in the dressing room" I am sure you can find some bloke called Dave who will do it for 500 quid a week.
  6. Why do we not worry about pay rises for the top level of companies fueling inflation, after all these are the ones buying the expensive properties in London and other such things? It is almost like it is political pressure being used to keep people cheap so that a larger slice can be allocated to a different group....
  7. It must be super slow because they have not won much in ages. But to the point since Ferguson left they simply haven't had anyone with enough respect to force the big players to play together. Moreneo got closest but his toxic brand of doing this has passed it shelf life. They have also spent a lot of money so when the Man U faithful complain about lack of investment it seems a little off the point to the rest of is Premier league and lower teams trying to get by. Screw them I still remember listening to that 6-3 on Solent, one of the best afternoons I have ever had.

Seems like a number of people in here are French with their willingness to capitulate.
  9. That is what is often wrong the people who get sued are normally the ones with money rather than the most responsible, and this goes for most things. A look through various cases will see this come up. On another note I saw a story today of a 9 year old who was shot and killed in the car she was sitting in Houston, Texas. The shooter had just been robbed at a cash machine by a man with a gun and thought the robber had jumped into the truck so opened fire. Well he had not and today charges against him were dismissed by a grand jury. So here we have a man who decided he could be judge, jury and executioner but condemned an innocent victim instead while himself no longer in danger. An armed citizenry is the reason the police feel a need to, and excused from, shooting people. If anyone could have a gun anyone could be justifiably killed at anytime, without sanctio, or recourse. And if you are dead what good will justice do you. Before cameras became ubiquitous there would not even have been any controvening evidence that could refute law enforcement statements.
  10. Let's face it Bidens not a great President, but he his still better than an additional 4 years of a man who like Boris only wanted the job title not the job.
  11. It has been hotter than that here for ages, although I have air conditioning so you lot will just have to suck it up. I am sure to hear all about it when I talk to my mum this weekend.
  12. Don't worry the issue of diversity in women's soccer is even more apparent in the US https://www.goal.com/en/news/it-makes-absolutely-no-sense-why-is-the-us-womens-world-cup/1f8ptxyibchlh1pm46rqojzwod The problem being mostly seen around the "pay to play" issue basically if you want your kid to play soccer you have to join a club, which charges fees to cover its costs. Therefore only the middle class can afford the time and money (to drive to some edge of town soccer complex) for their kids to participate. The next bit is normally left off the discussion because no one in America thinks it unusual in that to access professional sports in the US you go via university, so you are probably familiar with this from American football and basketball but is also there for other sports you might not realize like golf, most of those American golfers will have played for a university team, athletics too. Now this is where football comes in to be an elite women player you have to go through university, for mens american football and basketball they find a way for those less gifted academically to get in and will have extensive teaching support to maintain eligibility, but for other sports and especially women's sport you will need to figure it out for yourself. So only those whose parents drive them all over and can academically achieve at college get a shot. When in reality what you need to get good is a ball, some friends and some flat land and then get some professional training as they get older. You do not see a lot of football played outside organized structures. The professional teams are recruiting from 21-22 year old college graduates not 16-18 year old local levels. This is clearly going to skew the types of people you pick up.
  13. My main issue might be the over exposure of one women's sport at the expense of other women's sports that are deserving and also competitive.
  14. Nah you are allowed to like them if they are the best in the world at curring cancer, sporting ability or making money. You are required to hate if merely useful like harvesting food, processing meat or sanitizing hospitals.
  15. It's clear the standards have risen over recent years. The biggest difference I see is that the passing distance has increased, there used to be only a few players capable of generating the longer passes now this seems a more regularly used ability. Comparing men and women's top scorers is kind of stupid, the quality distribution of sides is different, and I am pretty sure one of the complaints against Rooney was that he got most of those goals against the chumps in qualifying groups rather than against good opposition sides at Euros and World cups. For sport to be exciting, there must be something that hangs in the balance that it can go either way, that fortunes can reverse. If we thumped a bunch of nobodies 8-0 every week it would quickly get dull. The fact that in the past African teams could not compete was not so detrimental as it would only be a few games, and the exposure also help build these countries. What you want to make sure is that there is not to much of this going on to loose the spectacle. Showing you have a good product is much more beneficial that telling everyone how amazing it is only to be disappointed when they see it.
  16. He would only be worth those sums if Ralph decides to play in a style that suits his attributes, if he intends to carry on using the tactics of the end of the season there would be no point.
  17. If he has spent a number of years watching developing youth players, he will probably have a good knowledge of those same players a few year later in their careers, maybe now at the perfect age to sign them.....
  18. He is not going to voluntarily go, he will have to be pushed or more likely dragged out.
  19. Nice to see a good old fashioned bank run developing on the crypto lenders preventing people from making withdrawals. Having to be propped up with old fashioned dollar bills.
  20. I have lived in the US for 18 years now, and what I have noticed is that over this time people of different political persuasions have separated and you no longer will find people who disagree socializing with each other. Rural areas that would elect some democrats to county boards no longer have these people it is purely republican. Democratic cities the reverse. I have heard a lot of different people from various parts tell me the election was stolen, citing all sorts of stupid reasons and evidence. Democrats have given up trying to represent all Americans, they have retreated to the urban areas. A Christian nationalist agenda is clearly being pushed by some and it having an impact rational arguments tends not to work so well against dogma.
  21. I have always thought Shane Long was suspect from the time that Les Reed used him an example in an interview explaining how they used the black box to get value for money. That was a clear indication to me that they had believed their own hype a bit to much. Shane was at best a mediocre player in mediocre teams doing a decent job, but never going to set the world alight. To see that as value for money in a magical algorithm, makes you wonder if they asked anyone to use their own eyes to evaluate potential. Should have probably moved on 3 years back, but hey good luck shane.
  22. Ah the other side of #metoo those who were willing to do this stuff to get ahead, or give head in this case. Makes you wonder how some of the less talented people in various spheres got to where they were at the expense of more capable yet more principled individuals.
  23. Well another avenue of success is blocked off by the wealthiest clubs. Why invest in developing talent when the best will be cherry picked by the big boys who can offer more money, and do not have to worry if it doesnt work out, because they have enough cash. The win more system will eventually eat itself I hope. Beating up on chumps loses the appeal if they are too chumpy.
  24. I spent 15 years in Iowa, 3 years in west Virginia (it fucking sucks, decided to leave at earliest chance) and just moved to Tennessee. By contrast I lived in Southampton for 2 and it was fucking awesome. Except when a friend who lived in the city that should not be named would drive me over there, he is now a councilor on that fetid island.... The middle used to be occupied by a collection of Republicans and democrats who would get together on certain issues, but then Republicans decided that working with others was not for them. The democrats then held the center ground, but mostly as a reaction to Trump they have abandoned that to go find their own extremism. For structural reasons there can only be two parties. So I do not see it remedying any time soon without some external factor causing a rethink.
  25. Number one it's not about economic policy on the whole. Republicans have drifted towards control for controls sake, tossing out any adherence to a constitution if inconvenient. And are looking for ways to oppress people in the name of religion because that is what they think they need to do. The democrats are becoming beholden to identity politics to such a degree that they are losing support from these groups because they do not actually offer any help to these groups. There is a constant outrage at everything, but never actually doing anything to help anyone. Any consensus of progress in improving people's lives in general is lost as now the two groups mostly work for a select few. The already powerful on the right and the imagined oppressed people on the left (while ignoring actual problems, because it is hard and requires compromise). It leaves me in the middle scratching my head wondering what the fuck is going on while not being able to participate anyway as a Brit in the US.
