I haven't been watching the Switzerland/Honduras game tonight, but in the first game, Shaquiri really wasn't very good at all. I'm not convinced.
-
Shaquiri has scored two goals for Switzerland; rumours abound that Liverpool are getting tired of chasing us for Adam and switching their attentions to Shaquiri. Good news for us.
-
Twice, I believe - once around midnight, and once again at a more sensible time.
-
Did he dump you for a younger, prettier model or something Alps?
-
I really don't get why Hodgson gets to keep his job after getting 1 point in a group where we were favourites to progress. Losing 66% of your games is sackable, I would have thought.
-
Sturridge shooting when he could have given Sterling a tap in! Luke Shaw has been excellent, Lallana may have had more luck if the rest of the team passed to him when he was in space, rather than to Wilshire surrounded by players.
-
I honestly think Lambert should come on for Sturridge, I think he would offer more for us in this game.
-
Lallana is quality. Wilshere injured within six minutes.
-
There we go - 2:44. Shaw passes to Lallana, "his Southampton team mate, for now".
-
Here we go. How long before the commentators say about Shaw/Lallana leaving?

It's pretty simple really. Without Rickie Lambert, Southampton are a League One side. Without Pochettino, we're a Premier League team probably finishing five or so places lower down the table than we did. Lambert left for one of the best teams in the country, whom he has supported since childhood, knowing that his career is nearly over and he would probably never have a chance; Pochettino left for Spurs, a job everybody knows cannot be held for more than half a season, who finished two places above us, because they are paying him more. Managers keep going well into their sixties - he could have applied any time in the next 15 years and probably got the job, especially with Levy there. Rickie Lambert is on the SWF banner and rightly so.
-
I guarantee Lampard will play. 100%.
-
Bring him on about 30 minutes earlier?

I went for Hull because of the lower entry requirements, I wanted a backup in case I messed something up. Hull wanted 300 UCAS points (equivalent to BBB or ABC) where the others all wanted AAB.

I'm a student now at Southampton uni, so I've got friends dotted at various places around the country studying different things. The overall consensus seems to be the further north, the better, purely because everything (most importantly accommodation) is cheaper. My second choice uni was Sheffield, and from what I saw the couple of times I've been, it's a very good university and a decent student city. I have a couple of friends in Bristol at the University of West England who are absolutely loving everything about it, and the first year accommodation is pretty decent too; a friend studying at the University of Kent (in Canterbury) who is also thoroughly enjoying it, she's completely in love with the city and her course (international business); one friend went to the University of Essex to study psychology and is enjoying it there too, although I don't think she likes the city (Colchester) so much. My personal choices (as you make five) were: Southampton - campus and facilities are fantastic, I'm sure you know about the city, and the student's union is really really strong. Biggest downside is people confusing it with Solent, where you can study for a degree in social media. Sheffield - loved the city (wee, trams!) and the campus was large and very impressive, lots of top-notch equipment. Birmingham - very easy campus for travelling (has its own train station) and the campus is impressive, but the facilities were a bit lacking - the chemistry department was two floors of a building, whereas Southampton has 3 dedicated buildings. A man sold me an ostrich burger though, so there's that. Nottingham - never went to visit it, only uni that rejected me out of hand due to a communication cock up on their part. I was set on Southampton/Sheffield by then so didn't chase it up. Impressive prospectus, I guess? I don't know anyone there. Hull - it's Hull, I guess. The campus isn't fantastic but the lecturers (for chemistry at least) are some of the best in the country. Hull are consistently high up in the league tables, and combined with low entry requirements (BBB where everyone else wanted AAB) and cheap living and food, I can see why it would be attractive, if you can learn to live with that accent. If you're willing to go really far, I can highly recommend Edinburgh uni - one of my closest friends has gone there, and is currently spending the third year of her degree on placement in Connecticut, and at least three of my lecturers studied there at some point - two for their degrees, one for his PhD. The uni is fantastic, if a bit spread out, and Edinburgh itself is really nice, and gets the comedy festival! Lower tuition fees in Scotland too. Gets bloody cold though. Personally, my family live in Fareham, so being at Southampton means I had the option of avoiding halls in my first year living at home with my parents and retaining the job I had throughout college, saving money. I moved out in my second year, which was horrendously expensive but worth it, and being close enough to move in/out in multiple trips instead of one big one is a big bonus. I wouldn't fancy getting a year's worth of clothes, books, etc. on a train or coach. Hope this helps!

I wouldn't sing it. Queenie don't need saving, although it would be good if she had some savings instead of getting us lot to buy her a new golden carriage. If you're going to sing it, then go for it, don't just mumble along. Standing in silence is absolutely fine.

You know Frank Lampard will play.

What irks me is all this hype before hand about how Roy's being brave and using a young squad, how exciting! The average age of the starting line up of both games was 27 years old; take Stirling out of that and it's 28. How is that a young, exciting team? I don't understand the logic of taking a squad of 23 if you're only prepared to play the same 14-15 players. I'm still fairly amazed he didn't bring Milner on instead of Lambert.

The sooner everybody, especially the media, stops comparing Gerrard to Pirlo the better. Gerrard can try all he like, but he's not at the same level as Pirlo, and it's time for him to hang up his England boots, and if he could take Mr. Hodgson with him on his way out, that would be great.
-
The England squad is a big bag of Revels, and Roy's picked all the horrible orange ones.
-
Do you work for ITV Sport?
-
Do you really believe that? Spain and Australia are out too, I don't think we'd beat either of them.
-
Already seeing people saying that we need a team of 11 Rooneys...

So, everyone looking forward to Wimbledon? Starts on Monday.
