  1. Do we need another thread devolving into pointless arguments? I'm sure you two can sort this out privately or just resist the urge to reply. Debate, fine, but you're just chucking insults at each other now. Thanks for the info FF, it's good to hear. The media are trying their best to sell our whole squad, but this is very comforting!
  2. Seems like he's a bit of a 'plank` .
  3. Morgan's French and good at football, of course he's on Arsenal's list to buy, like he has been for at least two years. Doesn't mean he's going anywhere.
  4. Good news. Wouldn't be too surprised to see Hope Powell get into the men's game at some point.
  5. The squad is announced the day after the league ends. Roy will just read down the table, see if the champions have an English full back and choose him; if not, see what second place have; etcetera. That's how choosing an England squad works, right?
  6. I'm sure Osvaldo would've won that if he wasn't such a nutter.
  7. No. Next question?
  8. I really like the monochromatic version from this season, especially the white one on the away kit.
  9. I still don't think we'll be buying from any other PL teams, it just doesn't seem to be what we do, especially with cheaper alternatives available abroad.
  10. Mutch and Huddlestone might sneak in there. I think the more interesting question would be the best starting XI from all teams below us, with no Saints players in it. And then how well that team would do in the PL.
  11. Yep, we'll need Shaw, Lallana, Chambers, Reed and Lovren to be on top of their game against their future employees... Sorry, sometimes I forget that I don't write for the Mirror.
  12. Star Hen has a nice ring to it. I'm going to use that.
  13. It's fairly interesting that this man is UKIP's sixth larger donor... and also a Greek immigrant. I don't notice any of them complaining about immigration when they're paying for their billboards? Anyway, as noted above, every party has racists, misogynists and homophobes, even if UKIP has more than most. The biggest problem with UKIP is that should they get into power, they have some crazy policies beyond leaving the EU - so of course, they just focus on the EU and the immigration. I won't be voting for a party that wants to bring in a flat income tax rate for everybody, because I don't see why the bankers should be getting tax cuts whilst the hard working bloke on the street has his hiked up; nor can I support a party that thinks man-made climate change is a myth and that we need to be burning more gas.
  14. Clyne's was pretty damn good, but I think JRod's at Craven Cottage was the best.
  15. So... just really wide red and white stripes then?
  16. If our defenders are on their game and can effectively clear the million crosses they'll send into our box, we should be fine. They, like us, struggle with a plan B. Looking forward to this!
  17. If they can keep them both fit and get them up to form, Swansea's attack will be frightening.
  18. He certainly knows where the back of the net is! I expect we'll see him in the Premier League next season, he can't be content with another season in the Championship at Blackburn, can he? If nobody else has a punt I would expect one of the promoted teams to come along for him.
  19. I'm not so sure, the choice is which would be better - going to a Championship or League 1 side and playing there or staying with us, probably playing with the U21s and maybe sitting on the bench for the seniors. A loan could be great experience, but equally he could not have a great start, lose confidence and not grow much there. If he stayed in Southampton, he'd have the benefit of all our coaching staff and facilities as well as learning our style with more depth. It's a hard one, we generally don't loan out players, but it sounds like Stephens' is having a good run at Swindon. I think a loan would be good only if we can get in at least another two forwards over the summer, and to a team that would be able to give Gallagher the service he needs.
  20. The whole 'When England Came Calling' mini-movie was fantastic. We've got the media team, the groundsmen, and the players! Very happy being a Saints fan right now
  21. Precisely, Shaw only got a look in because Fox was hopeless. If we'd had a half-decent left back there already, I highly doubt we'd be hearing about £30million bids for Shaw, nor would he be in the team of the year or (possibly) on his way to the world cup. Shaw was given a chance and he took it, though it took him a while to really get going.
  22. Can you imagine a Saints team with Lallana and Townsend in it? It'd be exactly the same, just with Townsend sat on the bench. At least Roy would renew his season ticket.
  23. I think Gallagher's done well so far. His header yesterday was a tough chance, ditto his one at Arsenal... and I seem to remember most people on here singing his praises after the Arsenal game? Saying about how he was pulling their defenders all over the place? And then a fair few people called for him to start over Lambert the game afterwards. He hasn't quite got the finishing down yet, granted, but his positioning is actually excellent. He won us the freekick that Lovren just put over yesterday, made Barry look like a mug on the halfway line last week, and he is very good at finding the space. He's a different kind of player from Rickie Lambert, who likes to drop back and isn't so keen to run behind defenders. I think we, as a team and as fans, have gotten used to playing with Lambert as a striker who drops deep and can pass fantastically, so it's strange when we've got Gallagher there instead. Personally I think Gallagher upfront with Lambert in the centre of the front three midfielders could be profitable. He's 18, for goodness' sake, and I know that doesn't automatically make him better, but he's only going to improve. A lot of this thread seems incredibly similar to some of the stuff spouted about JRod at the start of last season.

    Artur Boruc

Krul could possibly be pried away from the sinking ship that is Newcastle, although I would expect him to go to a bigger club that us; similarly, Hugo Lloris. I'm perfectly happy with Boruc as a first choice keeper, but the backup is woeful, and given our mantra of buying first team replacements rather than bench warmers, I'd like to see us splash some cash.
