Possibly the least Southampton-like signing we could make.

Liverpool vs Saints - EFL Cup Semi Final 2nd Leg - Match Thread
igsey replied to Dalek2003's topic in The Saints
Loads here. Second AceStream is particularly good (beinsports rather than Sky) https://www.reddit.com/r/soccerstreams/comments/5q5397/2000_gmt_liverpool_vs_southampton/?st=iyde2gbg&sh=2c9c6465 -
I'm sad he's gone, but I don't blame him. He was never going to get first team football for more than a season or two after this one, might as well do it at a club renown for paying silly wages for old players. Great servant to the club, great captain - now to stick him on the banner and move on.
-
Good to have some actual rumours rather than 'Liverpool to buy all the Southampton players LOL' - presumably we could offer higher wages than Wolfsburg, but I'd imagine there are other PL clubs interested.
-
How's our feeder club north of the border getting on? Are Bitton or Dembele ready for us yet?
-
It's like being in the same tournament as your little brother. You want them to do well, you occasionally take some interest in how they do, but when you play against them you go all out and enjoy the game.
-
So that's what he's been trying to do all season! What a goal! Our defensive players love a cracker against the Arse!
-
So it's a 4-3-3 with McQueen on the right, Long on the left and Boufal down the centre?
-
Don't quite understand where all the moaning is coming from to be honest. First choice keeper First choice LB First choice CB Third choice CB who's been as good if not better than Fonte in the games he's played in Europe Second choice RB as Cedric's only just returned from injury and put in a massive shift three days ago Young DM who everybody keeps crying needs more game time, and Romeu has played a ridiculous number of games this season - at some point he will get injured or suspended, Claude will want to have a look at our other DM options Most expensive and exciting player in Boufal who has shown flashes of what he can do against a weak/young side that will give him time and space McQueen was a left-sided winger before a LB and has played LB/DM/CM/LW/ST before, he's shown what he can do and he's not likely to get minutes at LB with Bertrand back Yes I'm disappointed about the lack of strikers, but Austin can't play every game and Shane needs a goal - if he can't get one against that back four then I'll be concerned. I'm a little surprised Sims isn't starting after his great debut on Sunday but again, he put in a big shift and he's only young. Can see him coming on for the last half an hour. Should be a decent game, I think we stand a good chance against that side. I'd be fuming if I were an Arsenal fan.
-
Should have been 4, Costa missing when clear on goal. Jagielka and Stek have been awful. Shame.
-
Fonte for Yoshida (who was excellent vs Sunderland), Austin for Rodriguez, and that is a full strength team. Bertrand is not match fit.
-
Big club reject, French? He's off to reunite with Pardew at Palace, surely.

Saints 1 Sunderland 0 - Arsenal away in the quarter-final

I have to say, I love how many English players we fielded tonight - I make it eight and a token Welshie. -
Don't bother with the BBC's text stream - West Ham, Chelsea, Manchester Derby? They've got time to post about what songs the crowd are singing at Old Trafford but only two posts about our game in the first half hour.
-
JRod off with an injury - to his eye. He's gone down the tunnel, sub incoming.
-
Dreading the customary dodgy back pass from us today, this side will punish us for it. Looking comfortable so far, their defence is vulnerable.
-
Targett has come a long way in the last year or so, there have been a couple occasions where he's put in some fantastic crosses. Most of them are still pants though! I'd feel more comfortable with a fit Targett starting against Man City, but none of us really have a clue what McQueen's like defensively.

From the BBC preview: "The match at the San Siro will be the first meeting between the two clubs and comes six years after Inter last won the Champions League. That same season Southampton, then managed by Alan Pardew, won the Johnstone's Paint Trophy and finished seventh in League One." Gives you a sense of perspective.

Watched what I could muster before falling asleep. A combination of Fellaini and Mourinho against an attacking side was always going to be a bus parked game. On a positive note, Mané was w*nk.
-
There were at least 3 occasions yesterday where Steve Davis just came out of nowhere and nicked the ball off a Burnley player in our half. Kept things ticking in midfield nicely, as he always does. Great game, great player, must be great in bed too since he's clearly been ****ging verlaine's wife for so long.
-
Glad to see it's not just Tadic that can't take a decent penalty. Players need to stop with all the give-the-keeper-the-eyes, waiting for them to dive b*llocks and just concentrate on taking the best shot they can. It worked for Rickie.

JayRod back to match fitness, could start, Boufal on the bench. http://southamptonfc.com/news/2016-10-14/claude-puel-pre-burnley-sofiane-boufal-jay-rodriguez-team-news

Fonte and VvD starting tonight... gulp.
